@@alestarbronson3263so basically the way supergms achieve high rating is by getting invited to closed tournaments playing against 2750+ and hopefully doing well against them but since he isn't getting invited(which will change since he is already world #4 and invites are sent in advance so he will get his invites for tourneys which will take place later this year and next year) so he decided to play strong open tournaments instead, risking his rating in process but since he is a beast he is destroying 2650s and 2700s for fun and improving his rating(he has reached 2778 in live ratings) so this is what comment writer means

Arjun was the closest to play 2024 candidate, after all the other 8 . He finished after gukesh in fide circuit. He was defeated by pragg in wc , could have qualified if he would have won. He was just a half point away to qualify through grand swiss.

Yes, we definitely want 16 people in candidates, that would be awesome. And probably also more fair than now with current system - you get there if you play one tournament of your life and people who should be there based on long term results are not. It is unlikely to happen, yet I would love to see it.

You can't judge someone strength by their rating, specifically when he has earned lots of point defeating lower rated player. Alireza also was 2800 some time ago but I don't think he is better than nodirbek.

As Nepo said and Fabi agreed, it is not FIDE Circuit but FIDE Circus! The point system just doesn't make any sense. Instead of giving these random points to different tournaments which obviously look totally unfair, they should rather give two places for top ratings.

FIDE Circuit is shear random points, like Agadmator mentioned in this video. All top players make fun of FIDE Circuit because of illogical points systems and rightfully so.

Nobody has qualified for the next candidates cycle yet. Arjun and Nodirbek are the front runners for the 1st available spot as of now. Qualifications for the other 7 spots will happen next year

And yeah there's no longer confirmed spot for WC runner up. But it gives some circuit points. If Gukesh loses WC he might win the circuit with these points and the other tournament performances this year. If Gukesh wins instead, Ding is unlikely to make it as he doesn't have any other good results this year

The points are based off the time control, format and time control. So the only reason the candidates is worth 2 points more is because it has a slightly higher average rating of opponents.

Thanks to Agad!!! In case anyone wondering why Arjun is not getting any invites - Arjun is Telugu state guy (not Tamilian like other 2) in India and not part of WACA. I have great respect for Vishy but it's a shame he always conveniently avoids praising Arjun because he is not Tamil guy (Gukesh and Pragg are from same state of Vishy - Tamilnadu and also part of WACA). Tamil guys are very biased towards their own state mates (not complaining). No offense to anyone but the truth is politics in India always play bigger role than talent. Pls forward this message to as many as possible so that people are aware of the truth and may initiate a welcome change in the system!!

Bro Gukesh is Telugu bro they settled in Chennai becoz of his father job.... his father from Andhra and pragg's mother nagalakshmi who is famous in the internet is also from AP only bro.... they both literally have Telugu in their blood and I don't think there is any discrimination because gukesh and pragg became famous for their strong play at like 15 16 years only they played top tours so they got media coverage but our Telugu tejam Arjun came late (17 yrs is not late but comparing to pragg gukesh it's late ) to the chess world so he has no much popularity and in top tournaments only 8 -10 players play they think like already 2 Indians are playing why we need third Indian .... It will be the last wc match for ding if he loses his crown to gukesh this time ... He has to climb a mountain and i don't think he has the stamina or courage left in him ... He might even retire from chess!!!!!! Maybe join top Chinese institutes like tsingua University as professor
