My husband and I tamed a giga without a taming pen using a Tapejara. We tried with a Quetzal and wasted a ton of tranq darts because it took too long to reposition when the giga moved. The Tapejara was perfect because I could follow the giga everywhere while also constantly going straight up to stay out of its bite range. Also, I tamed my Tapejara by just eating rare flowers and facetanking it while I shot it.

Rare flowers are my preferred taming tool for these now, to turn them from skittish to aggressive. Then I bola them to hold them still.

@@mercury2053 it is not. It is tape JAH Ra. It is a word from the natives, the Tupi-Guarani people, from the territory of what is now Brazil. The word tapejara means The Old Being and it is also a name of a small brazilian city. Tapejara was incorporated to the dialect of the Brazilian Portuguese when the natives and the settlers from Portugal mingled with each other. Although the name now is used as the name of a small brazilian city, instead its original meaning. Note the species of the Pterosaur known as Tapejara is also from Brazil.

If I'm not mistaken, to circumvent this move there problem, add your tapejara to a group and make this group active, so only your tapejara will listen to the command. Loving this series too. Keep up on keeping up, Phlinger. You rock!!!

I made the "Move there" mistake and moved my whole kibble farm to the middle of my base. Took me 3 hours to fix it, only to do it again not realizing what made them do it in the first place. Lesson learned.

You can actually go through and tell your individual dinos to "ignore group whistles" in the "behavior" wheel. That should solve the problem for ya.

I will tell u whats even worse! When a stupid dilo enters your base and every effing dino tries to kill and harvest it. Yeah!! Happened to me twice then i whisled all the dinos to passive. Now i lost a quetz to a raptor!

Phlinger Phoo for best ARK Survival Evolved RU-vidr! I love watching "Soloing the ARK" because it helps me do just that. I love the "ARK Basics" because I learn things about Dinos that I didn't know about before, as well as new ways to lure and tame them. You have been the single best source of info for ARK that I've found Phlinger! Keep it up!

First time I played ark, I tamed a Tapejara pretty quickly, then proceeded to not really use it much... And now, my second game..... I had no idea how lucky I got that first time. Now, they seem extremely rare. And IF you happen to see them, they’re usually already in the sky and just never seem to land. FINALLY tamed one again today.

you could also combine methods; use a rare flower to make the tapejara chase you, then use a bola to lock it down as it charges straight at you which will be much quicker than waiting for it to land and much easier than hitting it while it is constantly changing directions...

I just did this in the Red Obelisk in The Island and it worked wonders. It kept attacking my Argentavis, tanked it like a chamo and just bola'ed it.

How I tamed my first Tape was ... less than optimal. I basically scarred it away in such a way that it flies to the vulcano ... and all the way up. 1 hour later I got one to the top of the vulcano, it dropped into the crater and got stuck on the Tec entrance. 3 Tranq arrows and I knocked it only to realise: I forgot to check its level ... level 2. Still love that one, just for the memories, but damn that was stupid.

My first Tapejara was a brownish, greenish one with dark wings. I named him Toey. He was very faithful. Unfortunately he died somehow I that forgot and I still miss him….

Ahh, memories of my first Tapejara tame. It was a complete accident, I bolaed what I thought was a Ptera on the edge of the jungle at night and KO'd it real quick. After I had it down I found out it was a Level 116 Tapejara. I spent the next 20 minutes scrambling to find enough narcoberries to keep it asleep. Got crappy taming effect because I only had regular raw meat, but it was awesome all the same.

I like this idea. Not a lot of people realize the farming aspect of them. Same with my favorite 1st dino to tame in a server, The odd looking puppers, aka the maschops.

For me Tapejara is one of the cutest pterosaurs plus elegant ... thats why i made a custom of it for my CHANNEL... ( its a lego like figure only) .... i want to make more more pterosaurs soon... i want all the dinosaurs and extinct creatures to be featured in my channel ... they deserve an equal footing ... btw cool video keep on coming

I got these for their movement to make building easier. Personally, the only thing I can’t stand is how it keeps moving a little after key presses. Love that it can attach to vertical walls and hold two other people

Thanks Phlinger for the tips on taming the elusive Tapejara! I have yet to take one because of my incompetence using a bola! I ran into a 150 last night on Ragnarok and he flew up, up and away.....needless to say I gave up! Dirty Tapejara Bastard! I'll be making a B-Line for some rare flowers tonight and try again. Hopefully the Pulse Pounding Phooness tips & tricks will be with me!🤗

i was very lucky,i am near a mountain,and tapejara's spawns there,saw 3 spawn,2 flew away,saw one,it had a green body and purple wings,loved it right away,then i bola'd it,the first 3 was a little better but i missed them (the third one was near the swamps,it was red and lvl 150)now i have a beautiful tapejara

Keep an eye on the torpor if you don't have increased food consumption for Dinos. Which I do for all my tames but as soon as I tame it I make it 0 and the same for babies

You don't need to have a gilli suit just crouch and be able to aim a bola some distance (easier if landed)

They should make like a tarp gillie that only works for x amount of seconds that you could cover a Dino asleep which makes em invisible to wild Dino’s for so long not a crazy amount of time so you need multiple but would be cool for like a giga or something tameing in default takes forever

When I first saw one I knocked it out so many times but can't tame it so ended up killing it then when I know how to tame one now pretty much just impossible never tamed one out of four attempts but I wanna try the rare flower and taming pen method so I hope it works my hopes are up

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or if this is something that was changed since the video, but bolas don't seem to work on these guys for me. However, I usually tame things at relatively lower levels right now anyway, so my level 20 tapejara went out with just 1 shocking tranq dart.

How do you get the shots to actually do damage from the saddle? I find 90% of the blood splatter registering hits don't register damage with the server, even on a lan connection to the server.

I have a 263 Ascendant crossbow I got from a Red Drop, at what damage percentage will a Long Neck be worth it I know a regular crossbow vs a long neck there is no comparison? It just seems a I have such a much easier time knocking out stuff than I ever did with a regular crossbow and it is way easier making tranq arrows than the darts. I tamed a 150 Argy with my crossbow and didn't even come close to bloodying it before it went down.

I'm only laughing because I didn't have a Tapa, so I grappled my Argie and sent him after the Quetz. After three trips and two hours, I managed to solo tame the Tek Quetzal.. by being Robin Hood. 🤣🤣🤣

Hey Phlinger! It's time for Broodmother and need your help. My fifteen rexes are at 50k health with 350 asc. saddles, my yut is 60k also 340 asc saddle, (you can't imagine the resources for those saddles ugh!) What should my 4 Allos health and Melee be at? and yes 350 plus asc for them too. I'm just unsure what their stats should be. Copied from Baryonyx thread, sorry for repeat.

I am new too, but I would say probably. The descriptor is weird, where Keratin and Chitin is a bit more straightforward with the either or. But really it is so easy to get the organic polymer, there is very little reason to ever use the regular kind just like making cementing paste vs raiding beaver dams.

No, for ghillie it has to be organic. If you don’t have the gear to make it to the snow biome, a hesperornis will also drop organic polymer. They’re the goose/duck things that swim in lakes.
