I'm disappointed that they didn't use this opportunity to give players the benefits of a second core set too. This could have made Base + Return the perfect way to start delving into this game without having to buy a second core down the line.
@@arenkai I don’t see the campaigns at all replayble. Once you go through the story the first time, that’s it. You know it and nothing changes. And to move on to another campaign after campaign gets too costly.
We're talking about the company (FFG) who was forcing players to buy 3 core boxes of other LCGs in order to have a complete set of cards, so offering a few new cards - which some players might want to get - with a shoe box, is not something that surprised me.
I'm pretty sure the Dunwich cycle is going to get its own Return to.. box eventually - this product doesn't make very much sense if it's a one time thing. As for the free space - the standalone scenarios, like Rougarou and Carnevale, are probably meant to be stored in this one, and the box size is what it is because that's the size that will be needed for a Return to a full-size campaign.
Yeah, I think if maybe this storage solution were designed with dividers for all of the first cycle, then this might have been a worthwhile purchase, but I'd rather save my money for future expansions. I can always make my own dividers and put everything into my standard cardboxes.
I was thinking to buy the new revised core but after this I kind of hate FFGs abuse on their costumers… they sell you incomplete games for you to expend more money? What a empty expensive box! Thank you Zee!
Ended up with a copy of this in a big lot of cards I got off of ebay. Hopefully I can find a good use for it. Probably not enough room for all cards, but I might be able to get away with just player cards or just scenario cards. If people like return to dunwich more, maybe I could fit everything between those 2.
Wow! Great video. And what a disappointing product. I specifically was looking at this for the storage solution, and even I'm not convinced I want this. The box is obviously too big for the Zealot campaign alone, but to have it as a storage for all the generally needed cards (player cards and encounter cards used in every campaign) it looks kinda small. I was looking for a smart and elegant solution, like: for every game I pick up my "base box" with all the player cards ever, tokens, etc, and a campaign box, and that's all I need. But this is clearly not it. Also prior to this video I had the assumption, that this expansion is a continuation of the Zealot campaign. At least in some minor way, like same missions, same objectives, but the bad guys got older, some got replaced, and some minor things are mixed up. (Like what they did with the netrunner 2nd ed core box) It's disappointing in that regard as well. But have to give it to it, the upgrade player cards look interesting at least. Still might buy it for the pretty box though.
I agree with the review. I've just got into the game (Base & Dunwitch) so bought primarily as a storage solution. Agree, was disappointing there were not dividers included for more but, having Photoshop, I can quickly knock these up. Other note is, once base & Dunwitch cards are installed, the box is full! Can't even fit the gaming tokens in so needing to still keep the base game box - little disappointed in that. My guess would be that we might expect a number of these to cover off some of the other expansions perhaps?
Player cards are okay, Dynamite is a nice upgrade, Hot Steak is a nice stepping stone to the higher priced version. Alternate encounter cards are meh. Box size is ridiculous and doesn't even fit the cards, it's garbage. Dividers are fine but you only get base game.
@@chriswinston1223 Cool. So you are the target audience. I think most people, and I could be wrong. Feel cheated that they did not put all of the first run story dividers.
