Its a scenario made by Nicholas Kory from Mythos busters podcast, thats why it feels different that other standalones made in FFG. So you were close with the feel of the storytelling of this one.
Thinking the same. I'm basically a wargamer, but I am looking for more. Love Horrified n Forbidden Island. I've got pandemic, Reign of Cthulhu coming in mail. This looks like a good 'get my feet wet ' game, before I get in too deep$$$. Great job Zee as always.
Is Labyrinth of Lunacy coming, too? It's the only one, I don't own, but based on what I've read, I'm not sure, if I really want to own it. (Love all the other ones, Excelsior best, Rougarou slightly least, but all sitting pretty tight together.) Is that Zee's own game shelf in the background? Surprised, to see Great Zimbabwe and Antiquity there!
Possibly the best standalone yet, with the Carnivale being a runner up. Guardians is too difficult and too derivative. I'd rather play one great scenario then two mediocre ones.
You mean Mythos Busters I think. And he designed a few fan scenarios which are supposed to be quite good. I planned to try them out in TTS but.... well we all know how that went.
As far as i am aware, all of the standalone scenarios are printed in a different place than the big cycles and mythos packs. As a result of that, all of the cards from the standalones are a bit different in look and feel. However, the impact of that is minimal, as they don't contain player cards and the encounter cards are self contained without using cards from the core box.
