Speaking as lead dev of prairie fire dlc - supporting the team with your purchase is a really good way to get extra assets added. These guys worked for “free” for nearly 5 years. Help them out and see what they give you in return. Hold back and you limit what is possible!
Your so right! I'm proud to be a talking to a lead dev of prairie fire. Wow! I am going to buy Spearhead right away while it's 10% off and I'm going to love it. I don't even know why I hesitated. Thanks for your reply...I'll see you on the beach...err I'll see you in the Bocage!
@@mrfootfxtish9430it's is only the map but the quality of vehicles in this dlc is better than SOG ones. And all these big ass flashlights and etc it's amazing. Gm is impressive to. It had some problems in the start but it all fixed
@@vaderksy4730 you’re right but also the vehicle variety felt too low, barely any helos or planes it’s like multiple variants of the same 1-2 tanks, or so thats how it felt
CSLA is obviously generally considered bad. Western Sahara is fine... amazing map (albeit quite small) and has unique missions etc, but in terms of assets is really just vanilla plus, which already exists with mods like Aegis. Not bad by any stretch but definitely not a must buy. Global Mobilization got much better with updates but initially had mixed steam reviews due to bugs (especially in the campaign), performance issues with vehicles and a relatively underwhelming map. SOG: PF has really been the only CDLC met with overwhelming positivity.
I like the tanks an all, but I get REALLY tired of having to shoot a sherman about 7-8 times with a Tiger before its FINALLY knocked out of the fight or crew bails. (Not all sherman engagements take necessarily that many shots but about 4-5 shermans out of 10 are like that)
@@elgungasucks6095 Nope, all I use for tanks is APHE or APCR. (Which APCR is designed specifically for penetration) Doesn't matter where I shoot most Shermans I shoot with the Tiger (On average) and take about 3-5 shots to eliminate (Sometimes as high as 7-9 shots) and that is shooting the Sherman in the hull, in the turret, on the side.. Maybe your experience is a bit different to mine are you using any mods that perhaps add this realistic effect for you? Or just the Vanilla DLC? Every time I jump on Arma I run these scenarios over several times, and my findings are consistent and conclusive to what I am stating.. I wouldn't be on here saying it after just a small short test.
I've wanted this for so long. Hope playing it solo is possible and not too bad. Sherm said that they've censored some of the symbols though, which I don't get why. I guess maybe for the few countries that ban them? Doesn't take away from it at all really but does take a bit of the immersion away, especially if you're wanting to make some kind of realistic cinematic.
Yes it’s got to be for places like Germany where you’re not allowed to show Nazi symbols. This has been a long time issue for World War II video games dating back to the 80s.
when u talk about immersion and symbols . u clearly talking about faschist symbols. when u play as german nazi and talking about immersion. ur post is just lmao greetings from berlin
u comment s hard on the line . over here in germany u could taken to court . glorifying them . relative they actions etc. if u where a german i would fill a online police report right now
ARMA 3 DLCs are a "always buy," thing for me; while I may not do much with 'em, I'm always up to help support folks' work. Look forward to seeing this one make it to the store.
This reminds me of what Invasion 44 _used_ to be back in ArmA 2, before they got merged into IFA3 and kinda lost all their identity turning into unit variations instead of it's own whole experience. Particularly the attention to detail in the uniforms and the vehicle variations, which reminds me a lot more of I44 than IFA3 if I'm being totally honest. I'm honestly wondering if the similarities in the name Spearhead 1944 are coincidence or if they are intentionally calling back to ArmA 2's old total conversion mod. I hope this CDLC gets updates like SOG, I'd love to see extra maps depicting Southern France and the Italian campaign... I've always wanted to recreate Operation Dragoon or the Anzio landings in a modern FPS. I honestly do see them updating the pack though because currently there's no representation for any of the commonwealth forces yet, which seems a strange omission when two factions of French partisans are included. It's possible this is just the first part of a WW2 mega-mod, much like SOG has become for Vietnam. They could be saving the commonwealth and additional aircraft variety for an update with a much larger map, further down the line. Again, similar to how SOG launched with only a couple of factions and one map, with almost no air support, and now has four jets, a baker's dozen factions, and three huge maps.
@@joostdriesens3984 I know, but the opinions seemed to vary (esp. early on) on the content quality \ proposition for WS. I do like the CDLC and think it's a good one, too, but wasn't sure in which category should I align it.
Yep. Most community mod developers were brought in early and as far as I know the Mike Force guys were making a version for Spearhead. Antistasi is also worth checking out if you’re into asymmetrical campaigns. And my mode Direct Action is very similar to mike force but geared for single player and small teams of up to 12.
Thx for the quick answer, would be awesome to have an axis side mission like mike force were you have, similar to the Hell let loose map recap the Normandy and push the allies back to the landing zones at the beach. If you hear something let me know please!
Ill support the creators no matter what, i just hope that more content that seems logical like the panzerschrecks or similliar things in other dlc's will be added sometime in the future
I really only want to play something like Mike Force or Antistasi in this Spearhead DLC!! I LOVE Mike Force in Prairie Fire...can anyone confirm if a grand COOP play mode is available like this day 1?? Not interested in the 20+ player campaign mode or really anything else just want grand COOP PvE gameplay
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.
My 3 only not good point is, 1. Sorry to see that there’s no big city on the map. 2. The guns are really good ! Sounds too BUT no recoil for some guns.. 3. The vehicules gains crazy speed when you drove it and turn your wheels at the same time, so when you drive a Tiger you really drive a Porsche Cayenne
They could have tried to make the houses look more interesting than just white exterior wall face. Somehow, I don't think the normans of 1930s-40s, with all its traditions (the opposite of mass produced mcmansions), would have opted for something like that.
Lots of lackluster things in this DLC for me at this moment, but it's in my opinion better than FoW and a lot lot better than IFA. Quality over quantity! I downloaded Random Infantry Skirmish, hopped into a tank and I never had this much fun in a tank in arma before. Great stuff. Maze of hedgerows sounds like a love letter to Hell Let Loose players who are terribly afraid of any map that isn't a maze of hedgerows xD
It has the bones to be a proper WWII expansion. And of course, modders WILL fix minor issues, like color corrections, adding swastikas, compatibility patches with existing WWII mods to supplement missing material. Its always better when the devs do it themselves, or incorporate those other mods into the official build in some capacity, but for little things, the community will have them covered.
You can expect full servers day of release and weeks after if it's good. But normally stuff like this go down to one or two servers publically. You'll most likely need to join a group to organize sessions for this mod.
Arma is all about communities rather than public servers mate. Feel free to join my discord if you like... everyone is welcome to join in on our events. Also don’t stress too much about region... high ping on ARMA isn’t a huge deal. We quite often play with guys from the USA and Europe.
On one hand, I enjoy these DLC's, but on the other hand, a game that is this old and the performance issues this DLC has, its kind of hard to justify the cost. Although I have not purchased this DLC yet, I will purchase it when I can get it at a discount. I have added it to my wishlist, so hopefully around the holidays it will be available at a discount.
I just played Mission 2 of the online campaign. I picked the recon squad. Running side objectives on the flank in support of the main attack force was fun. Particularly when everything culminates at the end of the level.
I wonder if these new weapons and especially the vehicles are in any way realistically balanced against the existing modern stuff. Like could you play a hellcat and pull off an ambush on a Leopard 2?
To be honest, I feel like this CDLC, while looking good, seriously lacks in vehicle variety, as a lot of users pointed out already: no Kübelwagen, no Jeeps, no American trucks, no Sd.Kfz. 251, no Panther tanks, no civilian vehicles, no Panzerschreck... It is like a puzzle with many parts missing. It is hard to enjoy the whole picture when key elements are simply not there. Not to mention that Normandy is a well-known setting and was done before many times in different games, including DLC for Iron Front game. The fact that ArmA3 is set in the futuristic setting doesn't help either, because most assets from the game cannot be really combined with WW2 stuff. To me right now Spearhead feels like a supplement for other WW2 mods, such as IFA3 AIO. In my opinion, it will take a lot of hard work to make it actually good standalone WW2 experience. I hope that devs will not abandon the project and will add more content. But for now, I'll pass... Maybe I'll buy on sale later if there will be updates.
Na, Bohemia is not doing the CDLCs those are independent studios. Bohemia is doing Reforger. Arma 4 not really because Reforger content will supplement for Arma 4.
well i knew it sucked.. thanks Billy i wont buy. Content added future updates ya uhh okay... SOG addded way mroe features and game play this ww2 is a joke DLC
wow, this is so underwhelming. We have seen much better before. Even the original Red Orchestra for Unreal Tournament 2004 looks better and has better gameplay from what I have seen. Why should we play this, when we have Hell let Loose?
@@filzargeynep3536 How is looking over walls from 3rd person view more realistic than HLL? It still boggles my mind to this day that Arma has it. If they just got rid of that shit I might give it a try.
Arma 3 is nothing but a tech demo. It's so unfinished and unrefined, maybe it's just too old now. It runs like garbage no matter how good of a PC you have, multiplayer is basically unplayable. I love it, but I had to stop playing it because it lets me down more than if lifts me up. Just look at the body physics when you kill enemies, still absolutely ridiculously bad, as is their AI. If multiplayer actually ran at a stable 60fps then this game could be one of the best around, but they won't improve the core of the game for some reason. Hopefully 4 is what it should be. All that being said, I see no reason to buy this DLC when we've already had mods for years that give us pretty much everything you could ever want in a ww2 game.
Supporting a creator team helps them grow and build more content. Up to you though. If you’re into ww2 milsim it’s a good shout. If you only played small limited games like HLL or post scriptum it could blow your mind once you realise what arma can do.
No other game, allows the game play possibilities and flexibility of ARMA 3. None !! I have 2000 hrs + on maybe an upper mid level PC and generally have very few problems. That said, I don't expect to run everything on high at 4k either. And usually as long as you're getting 30fps or more, it's fine.
