Armor as Worn Group Fights

We did it again! After some deliberation a group of us finally got used to using armor as worn rules, which means that armor reflects its use in reality. Sometimes the fighting is a little clumsy, but that's because we're still new to this. If all goes well, we should be doing more of this in the future. I'll also be making a retrospective video about this down the road as well.

yeah more Group Fighting! btw did you make that poleaxe yourself? and is it the same one you used in the armor demolition Video? If so could you do a small Video About it and give some insight on the materials and other Details?
@LivingManuscript
@LivingManuscript 6 лет назад
I did make it myself, though it's not the same one as in the demolition video because this one is made from leather so that it doesn't do what the steel one did to armor haha. A video about it is a pretty good idea, I'll try to do that sometime soon!

Once again a realy nice video!! WD mate! btw why are some guys soooooo poor armoured? and why has 1 guy an leather or wooden halberd? the picture is just not right! Well yeah i hbope you guys had an freeking good fight and a good time! Greetings from the old "Noble Knight"

Thanks man! It was a really good time, I think we all want to do it again. Part of the game was the variation in armor, which encouraged more dynamic strategies and styles. So since not everyone was wearing a lot of plate we thought it would be better to use a leather axehead so that we don't kill each other or anything.

Where are you guys from? Cause it looks like you guys are from the Midwest cause of the vegetation and terrain, and I'm looking around for some nearby reenactment groups. I'm from southern Michigan, just twenty minutes from the Ohio border.

You're absolutely right that it's very Midwest! This event was in south central Wisconsin, about an hour south of Madison, wi.

@@ryancoakley you're not alone in being far away, a lot of the people at this event and in the group are all over the state and Illinois. Maybe sometime you could make it to an event, even if not regularly :)

Do you rate the fencing helmets as textile, also I might steal your rule set I like what you got going on here.
@LivingManuscript
@LivingManuscript 6 лет назад
That's right, we just lumped all modern equipment as just protective gear, including the masks. So modern plastic HEMA gloves would count as "unprotected". And please do use the ruleset! I'd love it if more people did this so that we can figure out the best way to do things! It was a lot of fun, and when there are enough people involved, the strategies get really creative and interesting.

Dat wuz funnn Stabs were allowed ... weren't you affraid for your eyes ? :c
@LivingManuscript
@LivingManuscript 6 лет назад
We actually didn't stab except with the spear for a little while. But the next step is to get everyone fitted with mesh face covers so that we can stab.

Living Manuscript I'd like to cover my helmet with a steel mesh (cover the holes from the inside) How will you secure your helmets ? What are your plans ? Maybe a bit of welding could do the trick

Bugurt still better
@LivingManuscript

Dkfl Cnfyrtdbx I'm sure we can agree that armor for the buhurt can get expensive. This style of fighting allows for easier entry and differentially armored participants. Another thing that I like about this style is that because of different armor levels, interesting strategies start to emerge based on numbers, terrain, weapons, and armor levels. Which I find to be similar to historical situations, and I think the next step is to have everyone try this with mesh face covers so that we can stab as well, which would also bring us closer to a historical situation.

Living Manuscript in Russia our armor usually unexpensive, 300$ cost full set for bugurt
@LivingManuscript
@LivingManuscript 6 лет назад
Dkfl Cnfyrtdbx Maybe I was wrong to assume that then haha. It is, however, still reasonably expensive in my area as far as I am aware.
