I damn near broke my controller today after the horrendous battle log mobs and trying to get my moonlight, psa btw, you need to checkpoint after the chest or log pick up to keep it on death, I know it makes sense but God it's frustrating to not realize on a chapter closing mission. But I hit restart mission after the last attempt I could do for work when I meant to hit restart checkpoint and puase the game and Leave it. At this point I'm going for my moonlight and Arora and saying screw Wesley and his sprockets. Sorry for the rant I just to vent in a ibis support group. Also are all c weapons weak to elec build up?

Just a note for everyone, the bosses respond to your input and movements. The reason IBIS is more cooperative here is because he wasn't just panic firing everywhere. If you're trying to shoot him constantly without stun or anything like that, he'll become erratic. There is of course randomness too it as well, but its just behaviour of the player its reacting too most of the time, so just calm down wait for windows of opportunity etc.

But if it reacts to your input and movements, wouldn't waiting for a window of opportunity be... impossible? Since it will react when you wait for that opportunity and isn't input reading dislike by most people in general?

@@lunarpurge8494 its not total from what I can tell, the randomness is still injected, but it dodges your attacks for example thats basic input reading. Its also locked on to you at all times. So when you move, it moves, when you shoot it dodges, when you get stunned it presses the attack, in some cases stun locking you. The window of opportunity comes from the wind up attacks. IBIS has a giant beam attack and if you watch carefully during and after its stuck in place, when its fired there is a couple of seconds where its just static because its just used its ability. I stunned it with needles at the exact same point, every time on all of my tries of second phase. The randomness comes in sometimes purely with movement and ability chains. The rest is predictable.

@@adventofknowledge Ah See i'm totally fine with that kinda thing, but I thought you mean like it would react to the button itself being touched, like if you were stunned and pressed the attack button it would still react to that, If it's reacting and it's fast then I have 0 issue with that but I would hate for it to just do something at a button press. Randomness in a fight like this is totally fine and even when it fires attacks that it leads, only things that drive me crazy is when attacks bend midair to go after you and from I saw when I did this fight that doesn't happen.

Malenia requires certain level of understanding of her mechanics and movesets regardless of your build. This game is much more about using the right tools against the right opponents rather than overcoming them with skills, for better or worse.

seems like the game learns or something? I know this sounds stupid, but the harder I try the worse I do. The first try is always the best, but I still haven't beaten this boss after rage-quitting 3 days in a row. I'll try this build soon though, giving the game a break for a while.

@@DrMantisToboggan2005 It seems that way. Balteus seemed to figure out the tank strat most people use against him. I tried a slight alteration to the build in my kill and didn’t have nearly as much trouble. Other bosses seem like they can do this too. I tried the one-two punch against IBIS and it seemed to figure out what I was doing.

I had 1 song bird 1 stun needle, ashmead(if I got lucky) 1 Gatlling gun, on wheelchair legs. Took a while to learn to dodge and to stay up on it, but I eventually downed it. Good luck.

If you start the fight with immediate twin needles and continue with gatling pressure, you can get Ibis stunned with the needles off cooldown and get like 75% right away. Even with sloppy play, I finished phase 1 before Walter was done talking with this build.

Oh wow, thanks so much on bringing up the stun gun build, I was stuck on this and my build was similar but with double songbirds, the idea is basically the same but the stun is not quite potent enough to burst through the second phase and the best I got is down to 20%, now this looks super doable and I will try it once I get some sleep.

I was literally in the exact same shoes as you this morning. Double songbirds/Gatting guns and I just couldn't do more than 1 stagger in the second phase. The stun/electric guns are 10x easier and holy shit saved me so much time. I think I beat Ibis on the 2nd try after switching to the stun guns.

Smashed the entire game up to this point and all arena battles including s tier with the tank high hp build, got the songbirds and gatlin guns and became absolutely unstoppable lol, until this boss of course haha. Had to switch it up big time to the lightest build possible, and those needle launchers absolutely did help.

Since nobody has said it yet, if you're looking for the Dual Zimmerman route the key is to find your openings. I personally found the best opening to be the move it uses at the very beginning of the fight. Avoid the initial homing beams and it's lightwave beam by boosting to the right and you'll have your grenade launcher/shotgun opening. Be patient and kite him. Make him come to you. The ideal dodge pattern is to pick a direction left or right. When he goes for the three wave beams, boost the opposite way for the first two and boost back the original direction for the third. Whem he charges a cross slash projectile, hover in the air and dodge in the opposite direction at launch. Same deal for it's large laser beam. Rinse and repeat, looking for that first attack pattern and punish it during it's opening.

PLEASE READ. Change the left arm to pile bunker. In the very beginning intro you can get a free stun with the shoulder shots, then go in for a fully charged pile bunker. It allows you to start the fight with around 75% of health gone for free. In the second phase just look for another opportunity for a stun into charged pile bunker again.

This is how I did it. Use the Javelin missile launcher that has high impact right at the beginning of the match when the boss reaches about max height to use his initial move. Dodge right and with a shoulder loadout that stuns enough to stagger, speed rush to go for a bunker buster move for max damage. It required patience but it worked and I beat the boss with some well placed bunker moves when staggered.

@@yuiitsu4595 In the intro sequence, you can predict where it's gonna be. Afterwards you just have to stun and use quick boost to get in. You can charge the spike right after you dash in.

I just defeated this boss thanks to the help of this video. Didn't have the legs that you recommended, so I decided to try out the Fortaleza tank treads. Turns out that's a great leg part for this boss because it is fast as hell and can help make it easier to dodge many of the attacks.

A little tip for this boss, to dodge his blade you need to have a very long dash and have to be able to dash two time, left then right or right then left. Also, in phase 2 he will have a very hard hitting attack that you need to be airborn very fast to dodge it. So, reverse joint is the solution.

You can also use reverse joint legs to jump up then descend downward at an angle to deal with the 3 blade swings. The upward lasers into blade can be dodged by ascending up then dodging right. Puts you in perfect position to shoot it too

@@garythesquidsquid7779I have just beat it with reverse joints and I use lance+pulse blade+laser canon or shit like that, plus a handgun, but that gun is more like decoration ngl, dodge that attack, charge spear it, hit it with the canon to make sure its stagger bar is full, now 2 hit pulse blade, and another canon if you can, that would probably 1/3 of its hp, the first phase is easier, try not to lose too much AP. 2nd phase, with the new attacks, the super long multiple blades strike I can only find 1 reliable way to dodge it, dodge back, as far as you can, get out of reach, that arena is big, you'll never touch the wall, with the super charge 3 time strike, you dodge right, left, then fly up, don't try to punish any of this, only stick to that one punishing move in phase 1, and pray.

@NickReilly-iv6jg I hope not, cause I'm using the 2nd lightest reverse joints in the game, so I can't really duo wield any broken set up, so using the lance+one melee weapon is how I'm able to beat this boss with a reverse joints build, cause that lance is broken af, if they nerf it, then I guess reverse joints light build that does not use the chicken legs is out of the question for this boss

Dude this build was a god send. took me well over 50 times including attempts before this build...even with this build it took about an other 10 or so. The key is calming down and not moving around at random. The boss is always tracking you so for a lot of attacks staying still before it launches its attacks actually gives you a better chance to hit and evade its attacks...took me way too long to learn that lol

I finally got him. I stuck to my speed build but had to swap to reverse joint legs to be able to carry the ice worm guns. I got him with 2 miniguns and 2 ice worm guns. The reverse legs actually helped a ton and a few of those ice worm shots were pure luck

I got him the next day. The opening in this video really helped she'd off a huge chunk in the beginning. The rest felt like more luck then skill. 2nd playthrough only took about 5 tries with weapon, damage reduction and health kit enhancements to os. All achievements except S class and final achievement. I know when to call it a day🤣

I only use tank treads if I really need some meaty AP for a 1v1 mission but when it’s too slow, I like to use the heavy reverse joint legs for the extra dodge range and high jump

I find the invincibility on phase 2's first two attacks really poorly communicated to the player. Somehow we're supposed to understand that from the super big red glow? Makes the experience feel cheap even though the rest of the fight isn't actually that horrible.

I full committed into maxing quick boost specs and lightness while having as many missiles as possible (I lobe the arm-mounted missile guns; they're fun). It was a lot of fun learning to dodge everything; felt very anime :)

@@xellos5personally i built up a rather quick and maneuverable build that still lets me carry a shit ton of weaponry, using the spring chicken legs which gives you a possible dodge by onky jumping, so no EN consumption. Shotgun plus multi missile launcher in hands, and either double missile or missile with the Vvc 700LD made it easier for me. I also think not enough people invest in OS because although this fight is definitely challanging, i did not struggle as much as everyone else seems to be.

I had the same weapon load out but used quad legs and the booster that increases boost speed. The extra tankiness of the legs while being able to hover and dodge ibis was super useful. Best strat is to be patient and not shoot constantly, there is an attack where ibis flies super close which makes it super easy to stun immediately with the needles

If you fire right when it starts rising and then immediately side boost and open fire with the gats, you get a free stagger and half his health bar within the first minute of the fight.

Just beat this boss with light build, reverse joint legs, 4x shotguns. What a blast, took me like 20-30 minutes and a couple build adjustments. Just stayed constantly moving laterally, jumping and quick boosting, and alternating between dual shotguns to keep blasting away nonstop. This game is awesome.

For dealing with beam attack just keep your distance 200+ meters once it start charging the attack. The beam is harder to dodge if the boss too close.

4:39 heres a tip There is a way to dodge the blast because what the game dont tell you is that the blast will go a little bit over the direction you are going, so if you move left he will shoot in further left so by the time he shoot dodge right

I tried this boss for like 3 hours and brought to 10 health like 5 times. Only for it to run away and end me from afar. The build I had was good but as a keyboard and mouse user I was not using lock on. But now I see that it made a huge difference for this boss. For anyone still stuck, I just beat the boss with this method: First engage target assist (click in right thumb-stick), then stand still and let the lock on do the work while boosting up and down in the air slowly. Wait for the boss to stop moving then stun with your cannons and dump all your damage with your gatling guns. Being in a fixed position and maintaining only vertical movement, surprisingly nullifies almost all of the boss’s attacks. This strategy is also essential for the second phase because of the massive red fireball attack. This was the only thing that worked for me so good luck 👍

Dashes are incredible for avoiding attacks, but the more time you spend dashing the less time you have to attack If you move behind the boss while they're doing a slash attack they'll only attack once Vertical momentum and a sideboost is fantastic for dodging the big beam. When you see them charging jump in the air, then dash early to the side and don't press anything. The dash to falling momentum will help you dodge it most of the time The best way I found to avoid the triple slash was a dash opposite dash, then let go and fall. This saves you a bit of energy and not doing a dash gives you more room to get in an attack. Don't do any attacks that lock you in place when you're being volleyed by the lasers. That is unless you want to eat a sword

your build is really good. I'm trying out some expansion armor, more dmg mitigation and more kinetic dmg tuning to get the most out of this build. So far the closet I have gotten is about 2/5 of his health in the 2nd phase with this. When I get fully tuned I'll try again. Thank you so much man.

No one sucks and yes this is a huge difficulty spike, from soft thought it would be funny to put a dark souls boss in an armor core game and let it pass. Key things that make this boss impossible. We do not have I-frames no matter how hard you wanna try things are gonna hit you, and that doesn’t help with the fact you only get 3 heals. In your average dark souls experience a boss at this level you would have at least 6 heals to help ease the pain, but noooooope, you get three measly little fucking heals that don’t do anything regardless of how you invest your osc points. Not sure why they thought this was a good idea. Makes the boss more of a chore rather than fun. But good luck everyone this is really the only way to go about fighting the boss. It’s ridicules but you’ll get it eventually if you keep trying

Holy shit I finally did it with this build! Even second try 😊. My first build was double shotgun but i didn't hit once because tracking is to hard for me (I play on PC). Second build with good success was 2x the 10x Shoulder-Rocket launcher, the normal Rocket Launcher and the Nebula. Reached second Phase 6-7 times out of 20 trys or so. Third build was rocket launcher, Zimmerman Shotgun and the Laser Srewdriver. I got lucky once and made it to 50% of the second phase, then the boss did some kind of Radahn attack three times, which killed me. Problem 1.its moonblade attacks are like margot....it fired such way that works against my usual habit of dodging. 2. That lift laser beam...has a AWE on the ground.... So try jumping. Why do i feel like its a she.?

When the boss starts it's first initial dive you can unload on him simply by looking up very quickly instead of dodging

I used double plasma missile launchers on my back coupled with a rocket launcher in my left hand, and a nice long range rifle in right. The bosses attacks don’t have good tracking at a distance. The plasma missiles have good enough tracking to keep up with his dashing most of the time, and my rocket launcher would almost guaranteed staggered him after one of his big wind ups. Great guide. Only thing is locking on reduces your accuracy by about 30% so take that into consideration. You will feel it more with other weapons

Great vid! I had thought to use the needle launchers in tandem...and was using the songbirds with the gatling guns but the works perfectly. Does your OS build matter at all for this?

OS shouldn't matter too much but kinetic damage will help, it's 15% more damage

I just beat this boss after the 18th try lol wasn’t too different of a build I had the Gatling gun, Chang Cheng MG with the stun needle & 10 missile launcher :) this games amazing honestly

I’m starting to get tired about this, is it possible to beat this type of boss with something else that double big shoulders canon and double gats ? I feel like it’s the only answer available when facing a big PCA ennemy. I don’t get the point of putting that much stuff, stats, and builds possibility if the only that work is big boi with double « insert ultra fast fire rate weapon » and double big shoulder lasers. AC/AC fight gives possibilities to try all what the game offers, principal boss fights are wonderful I have to admit, but totally broken. I first try almost every AC but I still feel that I evolved even if they really need to be stronger, but PCA boss are always the same story, just impossible so let’s go 1500 bullets /min

I finally did it with 2 Needles, 2 Gattling and the fast tank tranks, medium Abot-008. The secret was to use the auto-lock(mapped to an easier button) AND TO NOT FORGET TO NEVER MOVE THE CAMER STICK. That would break the lock. This way the gattling guns easily chipped away and I stayed pretty close to it and kept firing off needles. They hit surprisingly often after Ibis does a dash if you're close to it.

One more thing to add, I'm through my second run, but I still fight Cel 240 with basically this build I noticed one thing you can do at the start if you are using the controller, wait for just a split second and fire both stun gun immediately you can almost gaurantee a stun right off the bat, the follow up with your guns and you can chunk off 25% right at the start, a bit cheesy but I think everyone would let this one slip given how bad this fight might get lol.

Yeah I did this too. There's enough of a window to mash both stun guns at the start and then go into a stagger break.

If this doesn't work for you, just build a fater mech and equip 4 kinetic shotguns. Don't spam attack them. Treat it like a Dark Souls boss - get close and only punish when it attacks you. Might take you some time to learn its moveset, but I got S rank that way. Tried the build in the video and it definitely feels more reliable and easy to use tho.

I hate how it starts you off on retries without lock-on or boost engaged, it keeps getting a free hit on me. I was swapping out my gatling guns with a sword and bazooka but switching is so slow, sluggish, and unreliable, half the time I had the wrong weapon in my hand. I'll pop those stun needles on the shoulders, thanks for the advice!

Thank you very much for this, could deal with the boss with my usual gear in phase 1 no problem but phase 2 I found to be just horrendous BS Didn't know just needed 2 big and thousands of small acupuncture darts to deal with them

HOLY SHIT! I banged my head against the wall for hours with this boss and this build, second try. I used one stun gun before but that was the problem - only one. Almost exactly the same build other than that. Shows how important it is to get the build right for some bosses (unless you are actually good unlike me).

2:54 if you fire at this right moment, you can stun him the first time, before the battle even started. PS: Fire shortly before he stops rising into the air.

I cant get past this pos. The only build I have found that works, at least in the first round, is load up on nothing but heat seekers, and fire each weapon one at a time. Granted they arent the most powerful, I can at least get through the first fight that way. Also, did you do anything special in the OS part, because im doing less damage than you on this build
