I think this is a good thing to point out. It's also worth noting that because this is Armored Core, the normal "military" and "civilian" designations don't really mean much anymore since everything is run by the corporations. For a Colony Ship that's meant to settle new planets, it'd make sense to have some military elements aboard. Plus those heavy weapons could be used for things other than fighting off hostile entities, such as clearing large space debris.

@@corvus9359 I mean if there's something EVE Online has taught us, it's never go into Z-sec space unarmed even if you're a utility ship. Still a laser capable of one-shotting a PCA warship seems a bit much and RAD does have a tendency to tinker so in truth it's probably both.

Maybe is the same láser that was used un the ice worm mision i mean ir was Made by RAD Carla could have just reused it.

Also those laser cannons could have been mostly used for taking out asteroids that might damage the colony ship on its way to its destination.

He was the main character of 4's and his Operator's best friend. It originally began as a friendly rivalry before turning into a full blown friendship. Spoilers for AC4 He was also forced to attack Anatolia at the end of the game, because he was blackmailed to do it because Omer threatened to destroy his own home.

gonna put it together to see, but from what I know now, alba legs/arms, the starting assult rifle, Laser Slicer sword, and basic laser cannon

alba arms and legs, mind alpha core, hal 826 head, Turner rifle, Vvc-770LB laser slicer, and the VP-60LCS laser cannon. Currently testing what generator for that ultra blue color and just good recharge, but for this mission recharge dont matter

If you look at some of the story, they keep popping up something called "core theory" for combat. Essentially the goal was to rely on highly mobile forces that could dish out pinpoint damage. A massive battleship to maintain (other than the ones they have that couldn't even house an AC) would just have a lot of weak points for an AC to exploit or some other small but pin point force. You can see this happen to the Xylem in the mission where you take it out in the Liberator of Rubicon ending line. The Xylem was a colony ship. It wasn't meant for combat, so that was the only reason it was built so large. It had some relatively modest weaponry (for its size) for self defense, but in this mission if you hadn't worked to take out those ships, the Xylem would have been screwed.

Tbf, we saw what happened to the Strider. Plus, PCA had satellites. There was no need for them to have a spaceship. You had to disable them ON the planet.

Like Null said, because this is a universe where investing everything into a single gigantic vessel is begging for an AC to fly in and rip it to pieces which is what happens in both the games the soundtrack and video AC are from, and what happens to the Xylem should you decide to take it down

​@CreativityNull first game in the series for me. I wouldn't have assumed this was how they design their firepower. I see the interceptors and think they need a carrier, to bring then all to bear on a system at once, without leaving their energy stores semi depleted or something from galactic space travel. Effectively a mobile space structure that is one part repair base one part command center.

@@werewolfjedi38 Actually the whole "core theory" thing only pops up in this game. Most of the games in the series with the same number attached to them are completely self contained story wise within the games with the same number (with the exception of armored core 1 and 2, and a very light exception with AC4A and Verdict Day.) There might be some Easter eggs that help you to understand the story if you played previous entries, but it is not required. This game is MUCH shorter range than most of the other titles, and they use "core theory" as their story explanation for changing the mechanics. From there a writer could have extrapolated that would have even changed ship combat dynamics. Also I had another thought, considering most of the combat was taking place on the planets surface, and the PCA had their closure system in place to deal with ships, I don't think anyone was prepared to fight a ship the size of the Xylem, because maintaining ships that large meant for ship to ship combat would have been an unnecessary drain on resources since it wouldn't have helped the ground war. Arquebus didn't have time to take over the closure system, which is the main reason the Xylem survived. Ayre took it over a little too late to be effective and would have finished the job with her mech had you not interfered on the Fires of Raven ending. Plus, a lot of the inspiration for the combat was Gundam. The mission where you defend the Xylem from the other ships is straight out of the first Gundam series No hate here. Your observation is valid. I just think that the writers had an excuse for it being this way and I'm trying to point out what evidence I have. From Soft is notorious for burying things in the details and not giving a lot of overt explanation. This has been the case since before even the dark souls series.
