In the horribly cruel world of Rubicon, knowing people like Pater, Michigan, Flatwell, and most of all Rusty, would have your back is enough to bring anyone hope. I just wish we had missions with the PCA and get to know them a little bit more, and more missions with the RLF, I would’ve also loved to meet more characters from them and sortie together.
If you fail to land a shot for a little while, they actually tell you to smile before basically handing you the easiest shot in the game in a scripted moment. The worm just sorta glides on the surface at you giving you plenty of time to hit it.
Why do people keep thinking he fires the railgun from across an ocean? The map shown in the briefing shows that the Overed Rail Cannon isn't particularly far away since it's installed on the spaceport, i.e. the thing the worm just attacked a couple of missions prior. This entire map is still considered the Central Ice Field, which the Spaceport is nearby.
@@StrikeNoir105E If you look at the surroundings of the map you will see that he fires from WAY further away than the Old Spaceport, even further away from any part of the Central Ice Field you've done missions at before. The briefing says they're diverting power from the Old Spaceport to the Overed Rail Cannon and it's visually implying he's at the Old Spaceport, but its actual location seen on the map is really really far away. I'm not saying he's across the ocean, but he's certainly way further away than the Old Spaceport.
@@Rafterz I love em all but Ayre the kind of girl that will find something for you to do on Sunday when she notices you have it off. Rusty the kind of guy that'll get a drink with you and let you bitch about it to him later.
@@Zenjie862 when i just skipped through cutscenes on my first play through i was so sad when i met rusty. "oh look its rusty yay!" rusty " you have no hoes, no friends no purpose "buddy" now gtfo outta my sight!" D:
Honestly that's one of my favorite tropes in FromSoft games. Gherman, Isshin, The Owl, Radahn. Warriors who are a bitch and a half to fight, despite being way past their prime.
@@jacobmcguire106we are basically side support character in his Hero story but we are slightly better than him in both endings. Surely MC has almost everything but he has a secondary character that can do a certain thing better than he does. That kind of thing I guess.
Elden Ring had the Radahn festival, but this fight felt way more epic to me. Not only are you teaming up with other characters, but it's with people who are against each other. The threat of the Ice Worm felt so intense because of that, coupled with the music and dialog. Fromsoft knocked it out of the park with the bosses once again.
If I remember correctly, isn't Radahn technically a side boss? Since you only need to defeat him when going for a particular ending? Also helps that the Ice Worm fight is basically built up towards and is a key turning point in the story.
@GoodwillWright well yes and no. To get the default ending you only need to obtain 2 great runes, which would typically be Godrick and Rennala. However, you could also get a Rune from Radahn or any other of the Great Rune bosses, but you only need 2. But that doesn't change the fact that most players would end up going to the Radahn festival, with the whole atmosphere being very impactful especially with the boss fight.
The dudes at the radhan festival are complete strangers to you when you get there, randoms even when you look at the list of present people. Participants aren't independant (summons), nearly 0 interaction, nothing changing after. Here we got the best of the best of the major factions very clearly established long, long before, coming here to kill a high stakes story road block. Each with a personality and mid fight dialogue, and the event has later relevance.
If the radhan festival has anything from an actual festival, then it's flaws related to characterization would have been mitigated: the event makes up for the people.
@@thegk-verse4216 You only meet blaidd and alexander and everyone else came from the depths of a seweer, the dudes in the worm fight are ppl that you know and have interacted before, the tension between character is on point, if you drag the fight before the first shot and second one there is a lot of cool dialogue, if iguazu is still up he will roast you for taking to much damage same for snail calling saying he expected more from walter dog, michigan will call iguazu to concentrate, snail calling everyone to get away so they dont take damage, snail making fun of iguazu for being the first one in failing, chatty and snail making fun of eachother, from outdid themselves with the script this time
They continue to excel with their boss fights, it’s remarkable. Everyone has their own favourite but each one is made so consistently well. Other devs just can’t compete at the moment.
@@willvermillion1025 I’m playing through Baldur’s Gate 3 right now, and that game is incredible but it’s a different experience. Genuinely interested if there’s something out there that’s as good as AC6 because I’d love to check it out
I’d say no one can make boss fights as exciting or satisfying as fromsoft can right now. Hopefully western game devs can stop making movies and focus on innovative game play for once in their lives.
Rusty is the Peak Male Fantasy. I wish I could make snipping look that badass. And the best part is that he isn't "just cool and nothing else" but his motives and character are very interesting, they have weight, they made a lot of people root for him every time he's involved.
This mission was sick. The 3rd shot IMO is the true GOTY moment, this is already awesome when you first get to it, but the last one with Rusty charging the last round and overloading the railgun, comms distorting... I replayed that mission just so see it happen again lol.
And then when you hear Rusty say it's his last shot, and Rusty's voice cutting out as he's going up to 115%, and the laser actually goes THREW the ice worm, man.. my favorite set piece in any video game possibly, so good.
Bcs it requires time, effort and money. But since correlation between coolness and sales figures is hard gauge, investors don't allow studios to waste time, effort and especially money on their money making product.
On my first playthrough I thought this was the final boss because of how cinematic it was. I realized afterward that it was the equivalent to Yhorm and Rylard and there were two more chapters afterward. This game is great
The sound design for this game is so good. The way the music stops and all the other sounds drop out before he says "I won't miss." Was just exquisite. Especially on a set up with decent bass.
A few years ago, in what would be my favourite RP campaign ever, we had a very similar mission as the conclusion of a main narative arc. You can't imagine the hype and nostalgia I felt when I realised how close this boss fight was from that mission
Yeah it’s got 3 grinding bits designed to suck in solid earth and pulverize it into a fine powder at the speed of sound. But I’m still going to roundhouse kick it in the mouth!
@@schadowsshade7870 yea! I looked up the Voice Actors the other night and it helps me away. You can REALLY hear it during the Ice worm mission. "I won't miss" .
For me it was the first time I fought Balteus. The missle attacks just floored me. It was epic, intense and just plain fun. I got my ass absolutely blasted but I had a smile on my face the whole time because it was just so damn cool!
Absolutely epic boss fight the first time around. But after playthrough 3 you realize the fight plays out almost the exact same way each time. Like a movie. Its a movie fight.
Swear, Rusty damn near steals the show for me, Especially reading his lore tidbits from the arena. probably the only other pilot I would have love to see more of was Freud but it makes sense why he only shows up the one time in story.. That being said though, they gave rusty the coldest lines in any fromsoft game and I will die on this very small hill if I have to.
I thought this fight was just a visual spectacle gimmick, and completely unfun gameplay wise especially when trying to S rank it. I really don't see how anyone thinks this is GotY when we got both Baldur's Gate 3 and Tears of the Kingdom this year. Spider-Man 2 also will likely be better than AC6. It's a good game but it's not GotY material.
Game Devs: "it's impossible to make a good game, the people don't know what they want." AC6 and BG3 just showing that every game feels stagnant for a reason, they just don't care anymore about the product
Damn this reminds me of Monster Hunter when we impale Jhen Mohran and Lao Shan Lung with Giant Harpoon and the MH theme start playing in the background 🥹
Me: I've seen about every scripted sequence by now, you can't just make me feel excited for- Rusty: I won't miss. _turns the worm's shield to a cloud of red dust_ Me: YOOOO
This and TOTK are easily my picks for GOTY so far. I know ima love Lies Of P but I'm pretty sure it isn't gunna get nominated. If I had to choose just 1, fuck I dunno that I can... AC6 is INSTANT gratification and fun, from the second you start moving, the game is a blast. TOTK has almost no limits on what you can do and build. Obviously there are limits, like the 21 piece building cap, but the amount of stuff you can do is astounding. When they said "if you can think it, you can probably do it" they weren't joking. I dunno, I might have to go Tears, but AC6 is easily my number 2.
Any chance I get to be Oppenheimer’s worst nightmare manifested - a walking talking nuclear bomb that can detonate multiple times - I put it up there among the GOATs
lol 2023 became one of the worst years for game launches to one of the best due to the releases of baldur's gate 3 and armoured core 6 and the upcoming spider man 2 aswell.
