38 + 63mm is slightly weaker than 101mm one piece plate, so it is around 170mm hull and 178mm turret, should average out to 175, not 190

What's weird for me is why they didn't make a intermediate version. Just make front plate 80mm instead of 63 and turret 120mm thick and it will be completely invulnerable to a pak-40 from the front

@@tedarcher9120 I think the 190 is to account for the fact that shells rarely hit a target dead on and the game doesn't account for the angle of attack other than which side it hits.

Not exactly double, but it was essentially a m4 with an extra armor plate strapped to help with the Siegfried line

@@atkpwrgaming I’m not sure by how much but it’s absolutely over the actual armor the jumbo had.

Found a spruce stating: The standard M4A3 was modified by welding an additional 1.5-inches (38-mm) of armor over the hull front and on the hull sides. This increased the protection to 4-inches (102-mm) and 3-inches (76-mm) respectively. A new cast differential and final drive housing was produced that had a maximum armor thickness of 5.5-inches (140-mm). In addition to the hull modifications, a new turret casting was used. It was based on the turret of the 76-mm gun armed T23 and had 6-inches (153-mm) armor all around. The 75-mm M3 gun was mounted in the T110 combination gun mount that had a gun shield 7-inches (179-mm) thick.

M4a2 were the lend lease vriante of the sherman. M4a3 was the variant that the us used at the time the jumbo modification was used. Therefore the jumbos name is also m4a3e2

If shot from the front it's still more or less the same as panther armor. It's not angled downwards. if shot from like 45 Degrees either side it should be completely flat. still 80mm armour. But as some other guy said, there hasn't been a single report of the thing being penetrated from the front. There are some documentaries about the tank, of how it served on the eastern front, got called back for upgrades and then shipped down to Italy.

That is also quite a myth. The project of these vehicles was not super problematic. The issue is german logistics was crippled and most vehicles had to operate with second hand parts. The game cannot really try to simulate logistic issues. THE KT engine had on standard non combat condition nearly same inter manteinance range as a British Cromwell... the issue is.. germans could not afford do do such work.

that and the jumbo has a simple 75mm so in tank vs tank its no better than a regular sherman.

​@@tiagodagostinithat ain't myth,first batch of 12 Tiger II tanks literally losing to a Single T-34-85 Recon Tanks 😂 3 destroyed,6 captured (4 during retreated halfway had transmission/engine failure and left intact by his own crew and 2 of those captured during repaired on base) only 3 of those stay moving alive to germans lines 😂

That's not how angles work. 101mm angled is closer to 170-80mm and 177mm turret

​@@tedarcher9120 Yeah, mistake for the turret. Confused with turret side armor. Double checked about corps, equivalent to 138mm of vertical armor. Jumbo was immune to pak40, but tigers and panthers could penetrate it, though not consistently

@@ali2043 no, that's bot correct. Tiger could not penetrate the front and panther only could from 500m. It is equivalent to about 170mm, not 138. Angled armor is way more effective than line of sight thickness, that's why it was used

@@ali2043 elefant had two 100mm plates that are weaker than one 200mn plate too. So elefant is also not elefant level armor

GD is great, I love playing them

It's an excellent late game division, but this game is really heavily biased towards the first 20 minutes.

I think it’s quite good, but it never seems to work out as strong in practice

GD is a wicked balanced div. you don't want to play it on anything other than lategame setup, doesn't have good enough AT/mediums or air to compensate.

I love my balanced, no hating 😜
