Fun fact: When the powerful wraith-like undeads that Ainz summoned to use as messengers all disappeared after Shalltear clapped her hands, it wasn't them being unsummoned at that timing. It was Shalltear using holy power by simply clapping her hands to eradicate them from existence. And her having done it like that is something that the leaders of the lizardmen noticed, in turn making them even more terrified since she instantly eradicated 10 undead beings who each individually would've been able to annihilate all of the lizardmen.

Ainz is not always aware of what he is actually doing, but his pull up game is on point.

When ainz used the super tier magic in this episode it actually wasn't because he "didn't want to dirty himself with their mud" he did it to draw any potential YGGDRASIL players out that might have been on the Lizard men's side or if there was a player that just happened to be laying in wait since like he mentioned earlier on, in the game, it was custom for YGGDRASIL players to instantly attack/go for any magic casters casting super tier magic. In fact anytime ainz does end up using super tier magic in the series is for this exact reason, to draw out any YGGDRASIL players that could possibly be in the area(if there are any in the area atleast) and this isn't a spoiler cause it was mentioned earlier in the anime and it also tends be a detail people would gloss over or forget.

I love the subtleness of the term “2 legged sheep”, Demiurge doing “sheepeople” dirty. To be clear Abelion is a region between the Slane Theocracy and the Holy Kingdom where Demi humans (animal people) live and it’s where Ainz had said Demiurge had set up a ‘ranch’ for experiments in the 1st episode…

I actually laughed when Sheera said albino Charmander to describe Crusch. In a way, she does look like one. So Crusch is basically telling Zaryusu, "ZARYUSU I CHOOSE YOU!" 😂😂😂

I have seen many not appreciate the Lizard men arc, so it makes me so happy to see y'all enjoying it so much!

Fun fact: Gargantua is the strongest floor guardian in overlord, even stronger than Shalltear but because that thing doesn't have her own consciousness then Shalltear is the strongest Floor Guardian right now

LN notes: Victim actually speaks in reverse, and for this reason the only person who can actually understand them is Ainz. Also, during this meeting with the guardians, Cocytus was mentally shitting himself thinking that one misstep would cost him his life for his failure.

10:28 in the light novel it was said that shalltear actually wiped out the monsters instead of returning them. the lizardmen couldn't even damage one of the monsters yet several of them were killed instantly by shalltear.

Victim ( the angel fetus) is the ultimate wide range status bomb activated on his death. he also comes with low revive cost. victim is paired with the most powerful entity in all of nazarik, rubedo, on the 8th floor. gameplan is: fill 8th floor with raiders. victim dies and does his super status bomb. enemies are pretty much petrified, extra vulnerabilities, all the negative status effects you can think of stacked to max. then rubedo shrecks all of them. victim is the only floor guardian who isn't lvl 100. his level is 31 (lower than a death knight).

Victim himself isn't powerful. At all. He isn't even level 100. However, he is one of Nazarick's secret weapons. He is responsible for ending the biggest, multi-guild raid in the history of YGGDRASIL's server. Early in the LN, Cocytus described himself as the sword of his masters that doesn't think and only cuts. Ainz does not want to encourage this kind of behavior, especially in the Floor Guardians who have to be able to lead their own subordinates and make decisions in the field that lead to beneficial results.

Here's some skipped context concerning Victim (the fetus angel Floor Guardian of the 7th Floor), and why he is a big deal. (There is no real spoiler below.) First off, one needs to understand how difficult it was to invade the guild base dungeon that is the Great Tomb of Nazarick. The floors are as follow: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Floors: Grave theme, with a lot of mini-bosses, culminating with a huge boss fight against Shalltear at the end of the 3rd Floor. 4th Floor: Underground Lake theme, with Gargantua as its final boss. 5th Floor: Glacier theme, with Cocytus as its final boss. 6th Floor: Jungle theme, with the twins Mare and Aura as its tag-team final boss. 7th Floor: Lava theme, with Demiurge as its final boss. 8th Floor: Wilderness theme, with a LOT of insanely powerful monsters and bosses, with Victim as its Floor Guardian, and it being the last actual combat focused floor. 9th Floor: Royal Suite theme, with it being the guild base living quarters of the guild Ainz Ooal Gown, with the Battle Maids and Sebas(the pseudo-Floor Guardian of the 9th Floor) as its only npc fighting force. 10th Floor: the Throne Room, with a video game final boss room theme meant for all of the guild members to fight invaders together while roleplaying as villains. Next, is the history of players invading Nazarick, and why they tried to do it. In the game, if one is able to conquer a dungeon guild base, they are able to take over the guild base for themselves and to disband the guild it belonged to. In the game, the guild Ainz Ooal Gown was both one of the strongest guilds and the most infamous guild, with them roleplaying as the villains of the game. HOWEVER, in all of the game's history, no one ever managed to reach the end of the dungeon. A lot of people where stopped at the end of Floor 3 or 4. The furthest into the dungeon that even high ranking player guilds and raiding parties ever managed to Floor 6. With time, Floor 6 came to be commonly known as the place Where Invaders Came To Die. The reason for that is how utterly broken the combo of Mare and Aura is as a boss. They tag team the invading raid parties, with Mare(the second most powerful Floor Guardian after Shalltear) handling both support and DPSing from the back while Aura handles both thanking with her many powerful monster pets and a mix of support dps and interrupting of the abilities of the invaders with her many powerful crowd control skills. Now finally onto the main topic, why Victim is a big deal. There was only ONE time that an invading player raid party ever went beyond Floor 6. When that happened, it was because the invading raid party in question was an great alliance of powerful guilds numbering to around 1500 level max players and npcs. ONE THOUSAND AND FIVE HUNDRED! This led to almost all of the Floors to be overrun, including Floor 6 (which caused a bit of mental Trauma to Mare). The 1500 strong invading force then continued further in, also overrunning Floor 7, only to be brought to an abrupt end in Floor 8. This is why Victim is a big deal. Even the countless powerful monsters in Floor 8 weren't enough to stop the 1500 strong invading force, and those monsters included all of the original Raid Bosses of Nazarick (from before it was conquered by the Ainz Ooal Gown guild to become their guild base) all tag teaming the invaders. Floor 8 also had the single most powerful entity in Nazarick, a custom npc golem made with a World Item, that npc being powerful enough to defeat all of the guild members of Ainz Ooal Gown and all of the Floor Guardians together by itself. It still wasn't enough to stop the 1500 strong invading force. Then come in Victim, who goes in and makes himself be killed by the invading players. This in turn actives Victim's MANY on-death skills through his Martyr class. It was such a min-maxed gamebreaking exploit-like combination of skills that just the effects that were inflicted upon the 1500 invaders caused them to fail and all die in that Floor. We don't know what exactly those effects were. What we do know however is that after the fact, the game's playerbase complained in masse to the game masters and the game company about how game breakingly unfair it was. The result? The game masters thought it was interesting and were awed by the incredibly clever way the guild Ainz Ooal Gown found exploited loop-holes in the game to make Victim the way they did. They thus told the playerbase that they wouldn't do anything about it. This thus marked the last time high-ranking guilds ever tried to invade Nazarick. Because they knew that as long as Victim was a thing, it would be literally IMPOSSIBLE to conquer the guild base dungeon of Nazarick. THIS is why Victim is a big deal.

It was really smart move from Ainz. Lizardmen were too primitive and displaying this massive strength and military capacity was enough for lizardmen to pledge loyalty to Nazarick and its ruler, Ainz Ooal Gown.

I love this arc, even though ainz is only a minor part of it he has one of the greatest flexes of all time after the lizardmen focused episodes so its worth it.

Good to hear that Demiurge's Happy Farm™️ is finally producing materials.

The spell ainz used here is called [creation], and a quick summary of what it does: creation change the terrain itself. In YGGDRASIL, it was used to guard against the heat of volcanoes or the cold of freezing lands. According to Ainz's experiment, it has an amazingly large area of effect and can cover the entire 8th Floor inside the Great Tomb of Nazarick. When ainz used it here, it covered the whole lake(this area is very big) in ice, this ice was permanent untill ainz removed the effect, when lizardmen broke the ice it turned to ice again in no time.

Not sure if you caught it when Demiurge said where he got the "sheep skin" but he said they were two legged sheep from the holy land. Meaning he's using human skin to provide the parchment sheets.

The lizard men arc is one of my favorite arcs throughout the show. Introduce so many new characters and instantly fall in love with them. The next episode had me in tears. Hard arc to finish. Cocytus is a very honest, honorable and a striaght bad ass character.

the Jedi mind trick that Demi urge uses is called command mantra and it compels everyone below a certain level to do whatever he says.

Looks like yall didnt catch it but Demiurge is demented and evil af. The "parchment" he uses for the scrolls is human skin. He has a place called the "Happy Farm" where he does all sorts of grotesque and twisted experiments and torture on ppl. One of them is cross breeding humans to find out what kind of skin best suits scrolls. Shit is sick af. They never go into detail about it so here you go.

just a small side note, think for a moment on the "Two legged Sheep" Demiurge is skinning for scrolls.

Lupa-san tends to forget that the Guild and it's NPCs were the "bad guys" of Yggdrasil so Ainz literally needs to put the act to keep the gang loyal, and also, (me speculating), the fact that he's a undead might be shifting his personality.

Im just waiting for the day Ainz finally finds out what Demiurge's "Sheepskin" is made from and how is he going to react

one of my favorite things about overlord that i think distinguishes it from other isekais is that the MC is so cautious, even though he recognises a lot of stuff from yggdrasil he quickly realises that the game changed somehow in the first episode, and also worries about the possibility of there being other "players". cant wait for season 4 hopefully you guys are caught up by then.

What I love about overlord is how they manage to develop supporting characters like the lizardmen. made them interesting without making it too boring, making it important and interesting despite the fact that we already know the end of the fight. they do it quite a lot in the anime which rare ( more easy to do in a novel) and it makes it so unique.

Fun Fact : It's actually because of its secret job "The Overlord" that affects Ainz and not only because he is undead. The Overlord has an effect like the one that suppresses his emotion and the like, same goes to other jobs. Example, if your job is within the Evil alignment then you'll get the urge to do evil things.

If Cocytus managed to conquer the village then that too would have shown Ainz that N.P.C can learn and grow. Since Cocytus does not have any commanding skills or anything related with commanding soldiers in his bio. So if he had won the battle it would show Ainz that N.AP.C can learn and grow and do things that were not in their stats and Bio. Ainz gave him all the tools to beat the Lizardmen but he needed to know how to use these tools properly to actually beat them. Cocytus did not know how to use these tools thus his defeat was expected. If he won somehow then it would tell Ainz that he can lern and think outside the box thus giving him the same result.

Even the cameraman in the end was like “Cut it, that wasn’t in the script albino Charmander” that’s why the black screen appears.

Aims expected victory but it wasn’t a huge loss with mostly low level spawns. He’s more impressed that the floor guardian learned something. But he’s still an undead. Ainz isn’t a good guy and he will punish and help as he deems it fit. A loss is still a loss so the extermination is a punishment but another better option was given

Why Overlord works so well is because of the characters. There are various side characters we've come to love but, it's all pointless if the come into conflict wit Ainz.

Fun fact from the light novel, the Super tier ice spell that froze over the lake was literally could have eradicated all of the lizardman since it was the main source of food (which all the clans were so desperate for food in the first place). And there is a massive panic about it from the Lizardman, that's why they desperately ask Ainz if it will disappear before he left. Another fun fact is that Ainz literally only casted the Ice magic just to measure how far the range of it was, he told Mare to go through the forest and find out where it ends just so he'd know for future instances. He only casted the super tier ice magic to experiment the distance of far it went as well as the flex on the Lizardman.

Man Ainz flexing is some of the best parts of the overlord anime so far.

Always good to see other people getting attached to the lizard people. Wish we saw more of them later on, because they've got no right to be that lovable. Would honestly watch the shit out of a spinoff series focused on them.

The "abelion sheep" are actually humans that demiurge is raising at a place fans call "the happy farm." He finds it annoying to buy so much food to feed all of his "sheep" though, so he cuts off limbs, cooks them into food, feeds it to the families of the donor, then uses healing magic to restore them to full health so they will be ready for the next meal. He does the same when removing their skin for magic scrolls as well.

Ainz is basically a villain protagonist that is somewhat following the list of "Things I'll do if I ever become an Evil Overlord".

Fun fact : Skills are very important for players and NPC in Nazarick. For example, one without cooking skill cannot cook at all, every meat they cook will definitely become burnt charcoal. Ainz cannot weild sword normally as shown in S1, Momon can weild sword due to special magic.

Everyone thinking Ainz is some galaxy brain when he has no idea what he’s doing is still the funniest thing to me.

Not a lot of people know but stats actually do have an effect in this world rather than just being numbers on a screen that most isekai genres have. Also we need to give bone daddy some credit, he is pretty smart even before he became his character. He doesn't always just stumble onto plans. It's one of the reasons he was elected to be the guild leader even though he isn't the strongest player. I highly recommend people to read the light novel if you liked the anime.

The gap in power is insane. The lizard men warriors top soldiers are level 18 . A starting adventure copper is level 1-4,iron5-8,silver9-12,gold-13-16( after that’s where people with talent can get)platinum17-20,mythril21-23,orchalum-24-26, and at the very top adamantite27-29.level 30 and up is hero. And people like Gazef the chief warrior we saw at the start barley reaches hero. Ainz and eachhc floor guardian is level 100 and that’s not taking into account stats and abilities and races and such and there’s creatures in Nazarik who are stronger than the floor guardians

Someone probably said it on patron, but incase it got missed. Every way this was a "can my boy grow" set up. Cause like how Cocytus called Demiurge to question the crew he was sent with, and also reflected on this episode, he was sent with an army that could've conceivably still won the battle, but it would take strategy. So the first step was seeing if he'd peep that before hand. But then the bigger piece was seeing if he'd peep the probs after being beaten. Cause Cocytus by original design(back in game world) is supposed to be very rigid so if he can learn and grow, that means that with a few well placed lessons Ainz can make Nazarik even more impregnable.

Ainz character is supposed to be super smart but his memory is of a normal gamer human.
