It was stated on the news that they have done many test already in the nevada desert. Can be another hint towards time loop of them trying to perfect the infection
Because there's no way he actually has the entire story mapped out? They literally green lit the prequels right after announcing this movie and later on cast every character they wanted but for some reason you want to believe that he set up things in army of the dead without a clear plan for where he wanted his story to go?
FR - just call it "Army of questions that never get answered, cuz I signed a deal, and I'll just make up the answers later for the sequels and prequels, but please let me waste your time with the first one"
I believe the radiation slowed down Vanderohe's transformation, also because of the radiation he might never fully turn and stay as a better hybrid human - zombie
When Hiroyoku Sanata explains the plan to the team they actually show the events play out like the team is already living out the plan. This could be the movie actually showing us one of the time loops already lived out by the team. The confidence with which Sanata recites the plan could also hint at him knowing already how the events are going to play out
you people have to stop trying to find excuses for a poorly crafted moovie, poorly written, poorly framed, poorly executed and barely in focus... the moovie was shit so Snyder did what he could to salvage it ussing JayJay Hacks mystery box technique... wow loop? aliens, robots? let's sprinkle it so people may think it is deeper thant it is and not focus on the fact that it is actual shit that doesn't make sense... try to be an action film without any action scene that is cool to watch... humor that is physically painfull to listen to and dialogues that try to be deep but end up being so cringe it is haaaard to watch. This is the guy that pumped out a 4 h moovies after reading hundreds of critics and review for years and it was barely above what was 1st proposed... Yes watchman was great, but he didn't write it, the comics already existed.
@@ikasuki1 Huh? First of all the Snyder Cut was made years ago, back in 2016. So I don’t get your point of him reading critics reviews for years? Why would he read reviews about someone else’s movie? And what for? His film was already made and just needed to be released. Secondly, just because YOU disliked the film doesn’t mean everyone else does. It’s literally your own opinion. It has 2 prequels coming out and future sequels in store. Its clearly a much larger thing then the 1 movie.
There is no time loop. They are characters in a video game. They have died at this location prior and their corpses work like the Dark Souls bonfires. That is as far as they had made it in their last heist, which is why they did so well on this one. They had done it before. But not in the past. In the game they don't know they are in.
Oui oui !!Word of a frenchman i just clicked about these bloody robots... Snyder has no respect^^ thinking we all dumb and woke as him..^^ALIENS .. i felt from my sofa! Snyder plaisantin à la con^^
Let’s face it if Zeus was smart enough to wear a mask, ride a horse, and lead an army. But dumb enough to not know how to climb over some Shipping containers. Also let’s talk about the safe that was the dumbest cartoon shit I ever seen in the movie nothing but a distraction
@@brandonbrawner933 he could have invaded the rest but it was said in the movie rules needed to be followed. One of the rules I suspect are to give sacrafices every so often. If not, that's when the dead and humanity go to war because of lack of respect given. But they didn't know about the nuke
When they are looking at the blueprints early on Dieter does say that when he opens the vault it will be a doorway to another realm... and when he and Vanderhoe are shooting bottles, Vanderhoe does say not bad for your first time. But it probably isn't his first time is it 🤔
My guess is that the vault opening and closing is the actual trigger for the time loop. I also think Tanaka and the government are trying to close it and to capture the zombie head to learn as much as they can before the next time loop. They'll probably make a sequel with each time loop explained
The female alpha isn't called "The Bride", that's a completely different character. The Bride is the literal bride from the start of the film who caused the convoy to crash, the female alpha is called Queen or Athena
The first wasnt a bride or called a bride it was a male soldier... Zeus what ever time passedater in the movie his hair is grown out, weird for zombies

For every one else it took seconds/minutes to convert in to zombies after being bitten, but for some logic this guy comes out of the place walks a distance drives then takes a plane and then finally turns to a zombie.. wow.. don't you think that whole thing was just to show how predictable the endings can be.. every zombie/virus movie ends like that
There’s another robot zombie as the crew is trying to escape the vault. The eyes were glowing blue and I think the sparks blew up as someone shot it in the head idk
@@gsgambe01 then let me ask you... why didnt he get out of the vault earlier? zeus and the alphas were chasing batista for the latter half quarter of the movie. plenty of time to check if other zombies are gone. pretty sure he knows about nuclear fallout after a nuke so im sure he wouldnt survive that since everything is common knowledge nowadays right? even if he was bitten, its not like the weapons they left lying around were taken by zombies. he could suicide if he knew hes bitten already... my point is, the movie seemed forced. the way the accident happened the first time zeus got out was pretty cringey.
@@enix0053 Why would he leave the vault earlier?, he would have to run to the helicopter wich woudnt help beacuse that is where the zombies are chasing the rest of the team or try to run outside of the blast radius of the nuke and that isnt going to happen, so the safest place is inside the vault. And as for commiting suicide to not turn into a zombie.... it is implied in the movie that he only knew about the bite after boarding the jet in the bathroom scene. The way zeus escapes at the beginning could have been better i agree P.S: sorry if there are grammar mistakes, english is not my first language

He’s prolly AF- came from Area 51- all the troops from the beginning are defenders (AF MP) and if that’s not enough most of the time it’s the AF moving high value assets so my guess- on some kinda mission gas guy toe to toe with aliens and they wound him- his body mutates and from there he’s a living zombie of sorts- upon first viewing I noticed he had little cords similar to ones you’d find at the doctors office for checking somebody’s pulse- on top of that his hair is in military regulation so more than likely sole survivor of his unit or whatever- mutates- further experimented on by USAF and the virus probably killed all the original personality of troop- leaving only the virus in control- Zeus
If Van coming out of the ground is a time travel occurrence due to the atomic blast, then a sequel can bring back Bautista, I want and need more Bautista in my life and as this character!!!
Dude Bautista has truly turned into this actor that I get so excited to see in movies. He’s built like he’s believably brutal, he moves like an athlete, and then he hits you with a hilarious one-liner that only he is capable of. I’m with you!
My favorite character turned out to be Chambers. She went out pretty hardcore. Surprised she did not yell out that Martin blocked her way out though. That scene in the hall full of hibernating zombies where she was killing them quietly then had to use her gun was insane.
Absolutely. She was my favorite. I hope during this time loop deal they resurrect her and make her a bigger part of the flick. She was the embodiemt of badd ass and feminine. I loved it!
Of course, she didn't yell that out. Guzman could also have saved her and then run away together, but no, they had to kill her just for the movie's sake.
I hope the time loop theory is real cos it would bring something really unique to the zombie genre. And maybe, the aliens could be involved with the time loop in someway.
💯 agree with this statement, this movie was filled with plotholes and left things up for people to decide and assemble their own head cannon in the worst way possible. Lazy writing and the characters were not well constructed. If you're going to rip off Aliens, at least make it good. Like blatantly ripping it off with a Bishop not coming back to pick them up moment, a almost direct line about not seeing the zombies fuck each other over for profit, a Vasquez like character, using LV on the daughter's shirt, a corporate stooge fucking everyone over and getting people killed and the list goes on. Lame movie overall.
Pros: -The characters and actors were great. They really delivered. - Hints of Alien /robot zombie presented in a way to keep you guessing. Cons: -Lazy writing in order to move the story i.e.: 1. The 2 incompetent soldiers in the convoy lead vehicle. They were on a desert straight on which you would notice oncoming lights 5 min away. After HQ told them to leave the area to get the fuck out of there, Soilder still didn’t have his head in the game. After the 2 ran, they still didn’t have their heads in the game. The convoy could have easily included at least 1 attack chopper to take out the Alpha and any infected if things got out of hand. Why was the Aplha not bound in a body harness , head completely covered locked head gear? He was just in the container like he wasn’t dangerous wtf? 2. If retrieving a live head of one of the fast ones was the priority, why the subterfuge of the vault? They coyote and Martin and the camp guard was all that was required. 3. Everyone that went in with $ as a motivator was killed / infected regardless of experience while the daughter who went in humanitarian reasons survived. 4. Ghost had no idea he was lied to or the that Martin was going to betray them all, so knowing he was infected why would he not kill Himself? Maybe he wanted to get the money to someone but he doesn’t strike me as the type of character to put the world at risk like that. Final thoughts: Honestly the entire cast far exceeded the script. I could only recommend this to someone who was a fan of the zombie genre. As one I was disappointed in the overt message and weak devices used to push the plot.
Not sure why he couldn't just do a straight follow up to Dawn of the dead, this had too many contradictions and elaborate nonsense to even be set in the same universe.
3 was the kicker for me like wtf really, and she showed no concern for the consequences of her actions and that she got pretty much everyone killed to save 1 person except for having to shoot her dad. Even then it didn't seem like much of a big deal for her smfh.
My main complaint about AOTD is that if the US Gov had Zeus would they really transport him across land with limited back up in a shed that falls open if it's tipped over? No Zack, no they would not.
You'd be surprised how many times the army fucks up and doesn't reach the news. Plus the operation needed to be low budget to keep it under wraps, they didn't know the driver taking the container would be an idiot that doesn't keep his eyes on the road and that a couple having oral sex would crash into them.
Yes. Think about it. In the air you’re vulnerable to cross flights and air traffic and if something goes wrong up there you’re screwed compared to just pulling to the side of the road. The ground approach allows you to control traffic, send armed escort and have quick response.
@@paullew4853 Think about it. A world ending threat being guarded by a handful of soldiers with ZERO "armed escort back up"? The freaking Veep travels with more security than that
@@psn64sat63 I don't know why so many people think that the radiation would kill him. Maybe they watch Chernobyl and now think that is how all radiation is like.

@@bigdeal5394 Yeah, it's plot swiss cheese. Stepping back, it almost seems like it was supposed to be a zombie comedy that had every punch line taken out. As if they were supposed to make jokes about the robot zombies, the 'time loop', and all the other nonsense. Instead Snyder changes the tone and strips out the one liners.
@@patrickk5287 it must have been because I couldn't help but laugh at every single death scene that was supposed to be "serious". And the relationships were so contrived, it was painfully obvious when a character was about to die.

@@guy3090 man, that was the funniest one! As soon as they did that I was like "that chicks about to die". 😂😂 I'm not sure if that was funnier than them all just watching that one gangsta girl die after she jumped through that window though....definitely a close second!
I like the movie but I felt it could’ve been a four-star movie if they just didn’t write the daughter so stupidly, and there was no reason for the money heist
Agree about the daughter but . . . I think we are going to find out the money heist is actually important to the time loop. In other words: 1. Original timeline - JUST a heist (the dude trying to get a zombie head isn't there) - therefore the blonde "Coyote" isn't there. They all die. 2. Second timeline - Now the Coyote is involved (Maybe because she ALWAYS is the only one to survive, and the subconscious knows they need help. The coyote sacrifices the rapist to make the deal . . . and they get further. However, they are all killed inside the vault because the daughter breaks the truce to go after her stupid friend. (these are the skeletons shown in the film). 3. Netflix Timeline - Now the Japanese business guy has figured out there is a time-loop (maybe with the help of the government) so he gets involved and sets up a heist, pretending the vault is his. (Notice he doesn't have the codes to give them? Why not? Is this just bad writing? Or something else . . .?) He sends his dude who gets eaten by the tiger. Since THIS jerk-wad breaks the truce earlier than the daughter, the group is able to make it out of the vault because of the events shown in the movie. Should be interesting to see what the final time loop brings. I think I will re post this comment on the main section because I just thought of all this lol.
@@writingref I think the film is in the 4th time loop. notice Maria's key pendant? The corpse that resembles Maria has a key pendant with 3 holes in it while Maria has 4, indicating that maybe this was the 4th time the team infiltrated the vault. Also, The 2nd time loop was probably in the casino. There is a copy of the blueprint in the casino and some dead corpses lying on the ground. It could mean that Dieter wasn't there or Martin died early leaving them stuck in the casino. Dieter is the only one capable of opening the vault while Martin knows the way in the casino and in the vault. And the 3rd timeline is in the fantasy scene, where Guzman's friend joined the team, Chambers is alive, Kate didn't join the mission and they successfully infiltrated the vault and took all the money. Now this gets interesting, maybe the US Government nuked the city unexpectedly. the 4 characters (Scott, Maria, Vanderohe, Peters) are the ones that died in the vault, hence, their corpses lying on the ground. And the remaining team either died on the rooftop, in the chopper, or in the casino while transporting all the remaining money.
"Is my job to make some pop-culture piece of candy that you eat and forget about the next day? Nah. I would rather f*** you up in a movie than make it nice and pretty for everybody," - Zack Snyder
When Zeus ends up holding the dead fetus, in the takeaway shot you can see 2 robot zombies with glowing eyes, it's around the 1 hour 41 minutes and 57 seconds mark
Why the hell would there be robot zombies? What is the purpose from making one? How is it relevant in the movie? And fid they even hint to it or foreshadow it? Wouldn't it be better if you made a regular humanoid if you have intended to use it as a weapon?
@@ArlindoBuriti What the hell do you mean? Why does the government need to make cyborg zombies to monitor the situation? Surely they could do that with drones, infrared, radar, etc. It just flat out doesn't make sense because there is nothing in the movie that justifies their existence.
I love that a character introduces the idea that rain brings dried zombies back to life but it's never seen in the film A nice placeholder comment for the prequel / sequels we may get.
If the government wants the blood, why would they nuke the place. Also the time loop theory doesn’t make sense for at least two reasons. 1) Why would they be dead in the vault but not turned? 2) If the place is nuked before the loop restarts, the bodies would be destroyed and wouldn’t have been there to find.
@@Mendedsticks 1, they could've killed each other or by someone else. Or been electrocuted, idk. 2. In the loops, who says the place is nuked each time? When they find the blue prints, there are a few. Meaning each made it to that point without it being destroyed afterwards. Obviously something in this timeliness lead to them actually nuking it and them doing it sooner. I think it's mention during the news cast, how some were opposed to the nuking.
I think the robot zombies are from the aliens observing everything, cuz I believe it stated that Alpha turns people into his soldiers whereas if his soldiers get someone they just turn into normal zombies, so he if he had bit a robot from the government he would know that it was not real
@Pat Mckinnon I'm talking about the one where they throw a grenade down a hallway by the stairs and the guts fly by on the covering wall. One of the zombies has blue eyes
Agreed alien material helped create these zombies. The timeloop is interesting. I initially assumed the clothing it was a directorial choice to symbolically show other groups have tried and failed but not that it’s the same group. There was some more complexities to the film than on the surface.

Most likely tbh. But, I think its wild that some of the fan theories I've read in this comment section sound like a much better film than the one I watched. The sheer amount of plot holes and unanswered questions just begs for someone to tidy it all up and then that gets made into the sequel. Time loops, robot zombies, advanced zombies that can think and act and procreate(?!) Not to mention the elephant in the room... ALIENS!! This movie had a lot of potential that was not expanded or explained. I would love to see a remake that handles all these issues (and without all the out of focus artsy shots 🤢).
am I the only one that thought not closing the container doors when they entered Las Vegas was a dumb move. giving the zombies access to the outside world
Cayote said as long as we dont bother them they won't attack us. las vegas looked like a prison for us but for them it was their territory. That also explain why the queen and the other zombie didn't attack the group when they gave an offering.
Honesty that’s the one reason I’d say it wasn’t a good movie. The stupidest things happened. Makes me wish I lived in a loop they don’t make dumb choices l.
The time-Loop wouldn't leave the bodies. It's more likely they're just other teams and a fear induce hallucination... If leaving the vault enter a new timeline but Vegas was still leveled, he couldn't then return to convert Vegas... Maybe something like the Aliens did a clone test like in the Resident Evil series, but... That comes with it's own issues...
you never know, there might be the possibility that those corpses weren't there to begin with. Maybe they can only see them, if I'm not mistaken I don't specifically know if they touched them? It was late when I watched so I don't remember specifically, but who knows. Also there is no way we can put logic to something illogical right, so time loop could very well leave the bodies, no one knows :)
@@JonathanRodriguez-iy6rq a "Time-Loop" is a reset in time, like "Groundhog's Day" so everything is reset including the bodies. The time loop thing is from End of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise & Emily Blunt. An underrated Great action flick. Each proceeding time, Cruise's character gets more and more confident until finally he's Ethan on a Mission Impossible situation with alien monsters just as vicious as zombies.
ughh, its neat that the movie has these weird little details, but its too bad that its not a great movie. I guess this animated prequel is happening, so that's something, but it seems like there are a lot of mystery boxes planted for exploration in future films, that could have just been used in this movie to be make it better.
I liked the movie a good bit but I gotta say the novel ideas are what worked for me and what dragged it down were the very cookie cutter aspects. Zombie hierarchies, zombie/heist genre bashing, and all the crazy different threads to follow like aliens, robots, time loops were all dope. The shoe horned gruff father/ distant daughter reconnecting arc, the frustrating sentimental pauses in the middle of dangerous situations, the formulaic procession of deaths of the crew, etc felt like a cool idea being forced into a hollywood mold

That Alpha/Omega timeloop theory is a massive revelation to me. The idea that the current Alpha is actually a previous Vanderohe, and the next Alpha will be the current Vanderhoe. The bite and delayed symptoms is something that might be related to radiation or time loop, Im not sure. I do think the robot zombie is a government military drone to keep tabs on the zombies in Las Vegas
It struck me with the Alpha and Omega talk that this was the edge of tomorrow universe. Especially with the time loop. Maybe it takes place after the victory in live die repeat. They’re experimenting with the aliens blood and time manipulation ability and also explains the zombies telepathy link.

@@iamjordanpass I would be pretty stoked if because of the radiation and the zombie alien virus he becomes like a “good guy zombie” that doesn’t quite turn but needs flesh to survive and goes after the government who wants to control zombies, if that makes sense. Damn, I don't remember any paintings of the last supper where someone is holding up a dead fetus. Got to google that shit now just to be sure I didn't miss anything.
I felt like I wanted to watch a zombie movie with David Bautista as directed by Zack Snyder, and that's exactly what I got. 5 out of 5, does exactly what it says on the tin!
JON RUSSELL I totally agree with you. I thought Zeus ( king zombie ) his Queen and Valentine ( zombie tiger ) were the best zombies I've ever seen in a zombie movie. Just my opinion
Isn’t it odd how Zeus didn’t just outright kill him. Like he was pissed about his queen but took his time with him. Maybe Zeus knew more than we are led to believe
Also dave(forgot his character name) didn't kill the queen. Zeus as you see, doesn't do the killing directly. He bites them and creates more advanced zombie
When I first watched Army of the Dead I didn’t catch those Alien lights flying away from Area 51 when the Military Convoy picked up Zeus. I also didn’t notice the blue like spores that came out of Zeus’s head when he was blasted at point blank range inside the helicopter. I just assumed that Area 51 was home to other various experiments that don’t necessarily have something to do with Aliens. I totally feel stupid now. I also really enjoyed the new take on the Zombie Mythos. I thought Zeus was absolutely Badass! I actually wanted to see more of him in the movie and in a strange way, I didn’t want to see him get killed at the end. I think having the superior Alpha Zombies and the regular Shambler like Zombies was a nice touch that made a big difference in threat level. But thank you for explaining and exploring certain themes and details we may have missed. As always this has been a great video and I look forward to seeing the next one! Cheers!
This doesn’t make any sense from the perspective of a time loop - if they stumble across their dead bodies from a previous ‘loop’ then it means they’re still in the same time
The only thing I can think is they are destroyed by the nuke each time and instead of "their bodies" going back in the time loop... the time loop restarts and everything from the moment of the blast is the same... but if that were the case... Las Vegas would be in nuked condition from every single blast. Doesn't make sense to me either. And wouldn't there be two of everyone, including the zombies?
@@mcfixer9503 my assumption is he stayed in the safe until after the nuke. When he comes out there’s literally nothing left, which leads me to believe he was bitten before he was pushed into the safe, which means he wasn’t effected by radiation until at least 20-30 minutes after he was bit... Batista turned in about 5-10 minutes and got a direct blast of radiation on the initial impact of the nuke while flying away in the helicopter... Vanderohe seems to know more than he was letting on.
I've only had time to watch it once, but I have a question that maybe someone could answer for me real quick: How does Guzman have a youtube channel where he's killing zombies, if the zombies are walled off inside Vegas? Is he sneaking in somehow? And if he is, why doesn't he know about the "arrangement" with the sacrifice required to get a little freedom to move around inside the walls, and why doesn't he know of Alphas and the tiger? Did I just miss something that explains this? I'm hoping to get a free two and a half hours to watch again maybe tomorrow, but I'm curious now!
They were made before they locked down vegas, you can tell by the way the city looks in the video compared to the current look when they go in. You can tell there were years of decay in between
All of the "cool hidden hints" seem like the kind of things LOST had going on before everyone figured out the writing staff had no vision for a greater picture and were just throwing stuff at a wall to see what would stick, ending up in a position where they had to write themselves out of a bottomless plot hole.
Bruh I would have loved to have seen a god of war situation where lily becomes friends with the queen zombie and it ends up being like Kratos and Mimir.
Yeah there's a timeline where they walk away with 2000 kilograms worth of money just the 2 of them. From the vault to the helicopter. Smart thinking. Lmao. Not physically possible hahaha. Yikes.
@@LiftYourGame its just a movie anything can happen maybe they are all still alive ang get all the money and put in the chopper and hords of strong zombie came in surround them only peters, lily and chambers get out in there and the misile strike peters lost control and crush the chopper and peters did not survive only the two badass lily and chambers survive with the money. the end 😂
So the theory I came to after watching the movie on the Vanderhoe case is that we've seen throughout the movie that the turn happens faster or slower depending on whether the bitten is still alive or not. Vanderhoe is bitten, and the radiations from the bites are "fighting" over control of the body with the radiation from the nuke maintaining him seemingly alive event though his body is actually slowly but surely shutting down. I like the alternate timeline concept, but I thought I'd mention it :)

Also, Tanaka's whole heist charade was pointless, why not just have your loyal goons get the blood sample instead of wasting your time hiring outsiders and giving them a fake mission. Then at then end when the helicopter crashed, the movie just kind of forgets about Geeta lol These plot holes might be addressed in the prequels, but filmmakers shouldn't really do that as the movie suffers from it. With all that said though, this is a Zack Snyder movie, I knew what I was getting myself into and I still enjoyed the movie! The whole aliens, robot zombies, and time loops has me interested :)
Zack did a great job on this movie I’m actually in a time loop of rewatching it lollll I would love to see Van as a hybrid! The robot agents are an incredible idea as well 👍
Thanks for the thoughtful theories. I’m surprised you didn’t mention John Carpenter’s ‘Ghosts of Mars’ when you talked about the alien zombie theory. The alpha in that movie and Zeus act and look very similar. The film doesn’t get much love but it looks to me like it may have been some inspiration for AOTLD.
With the whole time travel thing, they could make a sequel and make someone change the events of what happened so that everyone ends up living or at least have Dave’s character live
Honestly, I was surprised that two people were still alive at the end (the daughter and the guy who was bit but hadn't changed yet). Just think of when he worked with James Gunn on Dawn of the Dead. It ends with a few escaping just to run into a horde of zombies and they all die.
Thank you! Theories or not, this movie...BLEW. I really felt Bay had his hand in this monstrosity. And as annoying as the daughter was (and got everyone killed)...she was so HOT. She was my favorite part of this 2 1/2 hour mind rape.
