Bax weaves a thoughtful, pensive, well constructed journey through mysterious landscape.

Deep, grandiose, wide open to our ears....There is something Sibelian and Griegrian floating in the air, isn´it ? Thank you from Portugal.

Unsettling...

Interesting to contrast this performance (with the RPO) with Handley's other recorded performance (with the BBC PO). The slower tempi in this, earlier, recording (together with one or two cuts), adds some two minutes to the time taken in the later, BBC PO, recording. It would be interesting to learn how Handley's views on the recording of this piece altered in such a relatively short space of time.
