Arrival of a new fully assembled Little Buck front end loader. First time fitment and use with my John Deere 445. I purchased the Little Buck after considering others like the Buford Mini Loader and the Johnny Bucket Sr., etc.

I've built two FEL's and bought several factory models. One thing that happens to people who own JD's is that they have never used the lower hydraulic lever and it does not work very well. I rigged up a male fitting to a short hose and inserted it into each lower fitting and with the hose in a bucket activated the lower lever back and forth. Any gunk that has built over many years will be discharged into the bucket. Just remember that the hose will be like a fire hose and want to jump around. Clamp it down well to the bucket or ground. You will have to replace the old fluid with new.

I have never again had a problem with the hydraulic hook ups, since that first incident almost 3 years ago. As you suggest, it was obviously due to never having been used before...

I got mine for my 420 a while back and hooked up great just a few issues with the bucket mounts to the front mounts that hold the bucket. It moves dirt with ease. Added a weight bucket and lug tires with weights. Thank you Tesser for you words of assistance and buck loaders also.

Thank you for posting this video. It certainly helps in the decision making process. This looks to be the perfect fit for my needs as well without the high cost of a 40 loader. Subscribed so I can see your progress!

I'm glad you find it helpful. I was looking for something similar when I was considering the options. I have been using it quite a bit and right now the Little Buck is exceeding my expectations. I will try to take some decent video and post it within the next few days.

The Bufort Bucket was made by a farmer out of Indiana in his spare time. After he moved to Ky several yrs ago, he quit building them....that was the reason you got no response. Seems you are happy with this loader.

Yes, thank you, I've been very happy with my Little Buck. Also, given my understanding of the Buford Bucket it does not have the same utility I enjoy with the LB. The lift height and reach of the LB means I can load and unload my truck and trailer, etc., as can be seen in some of my other videos...

Saks Place I was able to buy a Buford Bucket about three years ago. I sent an email and he responded a couple of days later. Granted, I don't have the lift height, but I can bolt on forks, and can lift around 600#. Mine has a better mounting, it sits in the frame notches and I apply 4 bolts in the frame holes. It takes about 10 minutes to mount. The Buford is more substantial and I have been able to pry some large rocks out of my lawn that got in the way of mowing. I think both buckets are useful depending on the job you want it to do. Mine came UPS in 6/7 pieces and I think I paid around $1700 for mine.

Curious, can you tell me the dimensions of the arms and cross pieces? The arms look like 2.5" x 2" or are they 2" x 3"?. Are they 1/4 thick or 3/16" thick?

I'm having trouble with my bucket not moving properly. It seems to not move correctly when the engine is revved up. Have you ever had this issue? Fluid is full.
@tesser5250
@tesser5250 4 года назад
I am not familiar with the problem, although it sounds like an hydraulic issue. Is the hose properly connected and locked in place? Try disconnecting the appropriate hose from the tractor. First, with engine off, wiggle the control lever back and forth then disconnect. Then reattach, making sure it is fully locked in place. Of course, also check hose for leaks, etc.

@@tesser5250 I contacted Lil' Buck and they gave me some tings to try. 1. The nut on the cylinder might need adjustment. 2. The 3 point hitch needs to be in the highest position. Also I might have kicked the rear hydraulics lever. I'll also try your suggestions. The hydraulics are not leaking or it would show on my floor. Anyone else have a suggestion?

Nice video on installing Little Buck Loader on John Deere 445 Tractor, and demonstration of bucket movement. I know in one of your other videos you wanted to purchase a Piranha Tooth Bar on for the bucket. Do you think the bucket can hold a pair of fork lift bars too? Most of the fork lift bars I see on-line clamp on temporarily to the bucket and probably could fit over the Piranha Tooth Bar. I don't know anyone with a Little Buck Loader fitted with both the Piranha Tooth Bar and clamp on Fork Lift Bars, and perhaps someone out there could respond to this possibility. Did you have to make any modifications to your 445 to accept the Little Buck Loader? Hydraulics, frame or front tires?

I am not sure about fitting forks to the Little Buck. They would produce a great deal of leverage on the bucket and, with any meaningful payload, possibly too much stress. Per the clip, loader came fully assembled and ready to hang on the 445. No special adjustment necessary, although I did fit the remote lockout because I have a 3pt hitch.

Just to follow up in your original question: I now have clamp-on pallet forks for the LBL and they do fit over the Pirahna tooth bar, as can be seen from my latest video...

I think the cylinders could be stronger but one needs to remember the front mounts only so without added bars to the mid area of tractor and braces one might be careful

Did you install some sort of relief valve in your transmission? Or did you just install and go? Thanks!
@tesser5250
@tesser5250 3 года назад
For the 425 and 445, there is no need for a relief valve. Other JD models do require one. Best to check with LBL.

Well, a couple of weeks ago they were $ 1990 plus shipping, a tad shy of $ 2200 to Pa. Owner mentioned he'll probably have to go another increase account of steel prices. Let's hope it doesn't go up like lumber prices..
