Nice my hometown You should definitively try "Käsekrainer" in Vienna...It´s a grilled sausage with a little bit of cheese inside and every sausage-booth there got it because it´s the most popular sausage there...Locals call it in slang prankish "Eitrige" meaning "the purulent one" because of the look of the melted cheese oozing out of the grilled sausage..Well Viennese humour is generally a bit morbid and ghoulish... And the Christmas market in front of the town-hall is also worth to visit...although in every district in Vienna you´ll find at least one but they are way smaller... "Tafelspitz" is also a traditional Viennese food I recommend to try... Tafelspitz (Tafelspitz, literally meaning = tip (of meat) for the table) is boiled veal or beef in broth, served with a mix of minced apples and horseradish. It is a classic dish of the Viennese cuisine and popular in all of Austria and was the emperor´s favourite dish.."Tafelspitz" is also the name of the "meat-cut" itself and because "the meat cut" is a bit different in Austria then in the US..Tafelspitz complies to the "the Standing Rump" or "Top Round", depending on the nomenclature of cuts used in the english-spoken world.. "Gulasch" you should try too, and you will love it promised... And last but not least visit a "Kaffeehaus" and try our local coffee-variations www.philodex.com/com/en/wiener-kaffeespezialitaten This should help you for orientation because otherwise it is a bit confusing by all the "strange names" we got for our coffee... By the way "Wiener Schnitzel"... we put some drops of lemon on the breadcoat everytime before we put the piece in the mouth..you should try it the next time.. Have a nice stay here in my hometown...
I’m actually considering moving to Austria for a few years, only been to Vienna a few times but got a good vibe. Planning to do some more travel around the country before I make the big decision.
Have fun in Vienna! I have been there two years ago in the summer and I immediately fell in love with this city. There are amazing parks at Belvedere, Schloss Schönbrunn and so many fun things to do. I did a concert at the orangerie of Schloss Schönbrunn. That was absolutely a ones in a lifetime experience.
The Rathaus has the best Christmas market, cafe vollpension is worth a visit for traditional cakes made by their Omas and Opas. I loved haus de meers too.
Hi guys! We were inspired by you to visit Vienna for Christmas, and already used your tips to find good places to eat! As we speak, we are at Mozaik Cafe Restaurant, waiting for the Snitzel:))) Thanks again, guys! Keep it rolling!
Hey guys! Love that you guys are in the areas of Europe at the minute as it is my favourite time to be there during this time of year! I am excited to see what happens next - but I have to say - if you would like to try 2 of our favourite places to eat in Austria and Germany - try Vapiano (an amazing italian restaurant) or Maredo ( an amazing steak house - nice reminders of america in there as well mixed in) anything there is goooood and especially the tomato soup at Maredo hits the spot when it is so cold! I hope you get to try it and i hope you love them! :)
Oh my god I was thinking about how you two should really go to Austria soon (I think it's one of the most beautiful countries in the world) and here you are!! Ecstatic. Hope you guys see some museums or castles.
Dang, can't believe you guys flew to Vienna instead of like taking a train say. Germany and Austria in winter are Beautiful I bet and probably a good time to travel by train, so that you can watch the pretty winter wonderland scenery but staying warm at the same time and not having to deal with icy conditions driving or whatever. Matter of fact, it seems like nowadays you guys are always Rushing around to your next locations. You guys are always rushing rushing rushing, going here, spending a few days or a week max, going there spending a week, ect..it seems like you guys aren't enjoying the Journey part of this cool lifestyle you lead like you used to a few years ago when you first started making videos. Taking the train would've been a much longer way to get there of course, but probably would've been cheaper, especially since you wouldn't have had to deal with an unexpected Uber ride. And if you guys stayed in hostels or cheaper local hotels or motels more often, you guys would probably be Able to stay in places a little longer, like 2-3 weeks. I mean heck, even just that place you guys are staying in in Vienna, even With the $100 less b/c of Euro conversion and even splitting it with another couple, that's Still a pretty indulgent place to day for 1 night if you're a budget traveler, let alone however long you guys are gonna be in Vienna. Which is absolutely your guys' choice to do that, of course. But considering how when you guys get to places that are new for your (or even if it's a city you've visited once or twice already) and you guys say there's still So much more you still want to see and do but you only stay there for like a week, if it were me I would Much rather stay in the cheapest (but still being fairly nice and safe) local motels or whatever in every location and spend 3 weeks min and spend a lot more time being able to explore and take in where I am and be able to just Breathe and enjoy where i am without having to spend half the time worrying about all the details of "what's next" and then rushing off to the next place. Idk....just something I've been thinking about as I've been watching your guys' latest videos. Seems like you're just always in a rush. Maybe a goal for 2019 could be to travel to a few less places, stay in AirBnB's a little less and cheaper accominations a little more, and maybe stay in each place 2 weeks instead of just 1 or less ............?? Idk... don't mean anything critical by that...just thought I would suggest.... :)
I'm American too, and you'd be surprised. We might not have the network of trains that Europe does, but we do still have some, and there is Still a part of the population that enjoys train travel, and not all old. If I were traveling around Europe like that I would probably only fly in a few circumstances, and would much rather road trip around or take a train. My way of thinking is, what's the point of traveling around Europe if you're only city hopping, not actually Seeing Europe while you travel around? :))
You guys should totally go to EisOper which is the best gelato bar (in my opinion) in Vienna! The Haus des Meeres (the aquarium) is amazing and right next to it is the Folter Museum (the torture museum). I know it sounds weird, but it is so cool and super cheap :) Have fun!! I studied abroad in Vienna this past summer and ate my weight in Wiener Schnitzel lol
I'm lucky enough to get to go to Vienna with work every Spring. Love the city. Great choice in beers, my wife loves the Gosser and I love the Wieselburger. If you get chance, have a trip on the Danube. There is a half day trip which is good. A trip up St. Stephen's cathedral is a must.
The label "Wiener Schnitzel" is protected by law for the one made from veal... All other kind of Schnitzel which has a breadcoat made by meat like pork, chicken what ever has to be labeled "pork/chicken..Schnitzel Wiener Art" meaning something like " Schnitzel as like Viennese"
Perhaps it was called "Schnitzel Wiener Art" on the menu. A lot of people say "Wiener Schnitzel" in that case, and than it would have been pork. I guess he would have tasted the difference between veal and pork^^
@@ElRackadusch Well I´m Viennese ...and yes it´s called in the menu "Wiener Art" if it´s not veal because of the mentioned label-protection but when we order in a restaurant we just say the words "Wiener vom Schwein" (pork) or "Wiener vom Huhn"(Chicken) or "original Wiener" (veal)
@@michaelgrabner8977 interesting to know. In germany we say just Schnitzel for pork, Wiener Schnitzel for veal and Hähnchenschnitzel (or Neudeutsch Chicken Schnitzel^^) for chicken. I guess in the vid it was not chicken. Never seen such a thin chicken Schnitzel. Guess it was pork and they just said the wrong name.
I have that Nintendo Classic mini, it is AWESOME!!!! Earthbound is my fav game too Eric!!! Hope you enjoyed Vienna!! Cant wait to see where your going next!!!
a wiener schnitzel is made of veal, if it is made of pork, chicken or turkey, it is just a schnitzel vienna style 😉 wieselburger and gösser are good choices of beer 👌
Let me guess, the Schwarzenegger Christmas movie you watched was Jingle All The Way. Allison wearing that beret reminded me of the Benny Hill character Fred Scuttle (maybe it's just a British thing) :D
There's not really much to explain about it. You search for a place (preferably with super hosts), book it and then you go there and meet your host/pickup the keys and before you leave you give the keys back to the host (or dropbox).
Love the video favourite Xmas films Jim Carrey a Xmas carol . ELF it's a wonderful life and of course the classic white Christmas happy Xmas to you both.
Guys, love your videos! On this one I initially misread the title, which leads me asking this question: when are you going to Australia? It's warm there this time of year!
I believe they hinted in a video a number of weeks ago that they might have plans to visit some "southern" countries next year. Whether that ends up being Aus and NZ or places in South America (or all of the above) remains to be seen :))
That air BnB is ridiculously priced. If there are 4 of you it's 118 euros each a night!! It's not even near the centre of the city. I stayed in a hotel in Vienna centre recently. For me and my partner it was 54 euros each a night and we got unlimited buffet breakfast which was incredible. We didn't need to buy travel cards because everything was walking distance. We only got the tram one day when we went out to the giant Ferris wheel. I think now you get sponsored and clearly most things you do are paid for by other people you travel in a way that is far too expensive for regular people. I don't believe if you were paying you'd book that place. Bit ignorant not to realise why Austrian airlines would be playing classical music. When you are travelling to the country and city most famous in the whole world for classical music and opera.
Something I thought of now, a few days later. It doesn't even matter if something is being sponsored or whatever. Due to people using their ABNB code, they get discounts and stuff. Not sure How it works, but it probably makes it easier for them to afford ones like this even if they Weren't splitting it. Another way that the normal average budget traveler wouldn't be able to stay in ABNB's like this one. I think a fun thing to see them do next year would be to do like a challenge where they have to budget for accommodations and stay in places like back when they first started making videos. It would give people on a much stricter budget more realistic ideas of the kind of accommodations they can stay in.
@@keandric2765 Completely agree. I've noticed recently that they spend a lot of their time in their accommodation. They have seen nothing of Vienna. It is one of the most incredible cities in the world but they didn't seem keen to see much of it. They often don't set out exploring until the afternoon. Seems like a waste to me.
That actually I don't have a problem with. Don't forget, just because they don't film it doesn't mean it doesn't happen or that they're not interested. They spent I Believe 4 days in Vienna, but they only did a couple videos covering maybe 1 day total. Something else to keep in mind don't forget is that Eric has said that, in addition to the RU-vid stuff, he also does consulting work on the side to help fund their travels. So they're not able to just "play" every day. Half the time they're in a city they're probably having to work, much as they would probably just want to explore all the time. And I think they try to structure the work around bad weather as much as possible. So if it's pouring outside (which isn't conducive really to filming), they probably stay in and work, edit, do emails and other administrative kinda stuff, and go out in the afternoon/ evening when the weather has cleared up, or if not cleared up completely at least better for walking around / filming in :)
Beautiful digs guys. Possibly Eric's brain likes classical music better than he thinks, if he actually slept for the entire trip. Guess that I need to check the mail.
I think you guys should watch "The Sound of Music (1965)" movie while you are in Austria. I love watchiing your Vlogs. Thank you for sharing your amazing adventures with us 🙏💕
Lala VILI Actually it translates to mean Viennese cutlet and can be made with pork, chicken or veal. It's like American chicken fried steak. Anyway, it's good tasting.
I like that airbnb but I don't like to book there anymore. More and more flats in the cities are becoming just airbnbs and the people are not able to find affordable living space because there's just not enough living space anymore and the owners of airbnbs just invest into the flats, whatever the price is. Because of that the prices are rising too. That's becoming more and more a problem in our cities and airbnb is contributing to it too.
Yeah, I asked a question regarding AirBnB rentals on one of their Turkey videos, never got a reply. A lot of influencers are recommending AirBnB when they travel and I just wonder, are they aware of the implications of short term rentals in a lot of cities ?!
@@gerdpapenburg7050 I think a comment like that is mean. I never thought they are ignorant, maybe they just don't think further or because they never experienced the problem they just don't know that it truely exists, or they can't really talk about it. They are living from traveling. This includes partnerships with such companies. Somehow they need to get their money. I also work for some companies I wouldn't support normally, but I need to get my money (to pay the high rents ;-P ). Politics should take care of that problem but they are always so much slower than real life, until they will release regimentations I'll be a grandmother (and I don't even have kids). But I think it's important to point that problem out and maybe more people will think about it and choose another way of accommodation. Flying every other day is also not the best way to support our planet, there are a lot of points of criticism when you look deeper into an influencers lifestyle (whatever field they are working in), but I absolutely understand that people love what they are doing and somehow need to close their eyes to have the opportunities. It would be great if more influencers would live a life as a role model but it's easy said, I imagine it's not very easy to live as a travel vlogger, always on the run and always searching for partnerships/your money for the next trip. Also WE are watching their content, so we support their lifestyle with all the airbnbs, flights, whatever. Maybe we should start with us, but I don't want to stop watching them because I like them :)
Well that is problem for goverment, if they want cheap option for citizients to live in, they have to build it. They cant just say to private people who are building apartments from their own money to rent for cheap. And for tourist it is really good because it is much cheaper than hotels, because hotels are employing people and have other benefits that a lot of people dont need. This is just sign of capitalism supply and demand, if someone is investing money to build apartments of course they want their investment back as soon as possible. Goverments can make tax cuts/reduce tax for people that rent apartments so it would be more advantageous.
London's airport? There are 3 (excluding Stansted) and I've been to all of them for first flights of the day (except City) and have had no problem getting breakfast.
I highly doubt they are still there. I think they're like 2 weeks behind on videos. I Believe they said a bit ago they were going to go to Ireland after and then home for Christmas, and since Christmas is next week I would gather that they have probably already been and gone in Ireland and might even be back in the US spending time with family.. could be wrong about the Ireland & XMas plans part though since this was like a month ago or so when they talked about their plans for the rest of the year :)
