ARRL Field Day from Alaska - KL7KC

We had a great time at the ARRL Field Day event in Fairbanks, Alaska. We operated 4F. 20M was not too great, but when we switched over to 15m, I think I made about 100 QSOs in about an hours time.
The folks in Fairbanks were great. We were at a volunteer Fire house in "Two Rivers" just east of Fairbanks. N1TX was my host and fellow CW operator. He moved up to Alaska over 20 years ago and only planned on staying for a couple years..

That’s a pretty sweet club to do field day with! I did some search and pounce QRP (1B) and made most of my contacts on 15M as well! 73

My first AK satellite q from way back. Fd was fun this year. Some interfering issues between 2 Cw rigs but last I checked we had around 1400 ish Cw contacts. Can’t wait for next year

Interesting. We saw the opposite in Utah. 20 meters was hopping most of the time, while 15 was not so much. 3A UT K7UVA.

Interesting using a Micro Keyer III with the Elecraft K4 was it needed with a modern radio? or am I missing a good CW trick. Great video from Alaska. 73 Phil G0BVD

It was not needed with the K3, but N1TX that owns the equipment prefers it since he is used to the interface.

@@k9kj Yes I am in an airplane, it’s a Cessna 172. I am a private pilot. Made a SOTA cw chaser contact this morning. I have some POTA and SOTA in the log. Yes let’s do a contact for sure!
