Wow Pete, it was a long one Sir! Plenty of innuendos to amuse me, thanks mate. BTW I do like your bright red balls. Much better than the plastic ones. Lots of great tips and information all professionally presented, I think all the checks and changes you made are great common sense and essential if you want to keep your Arrma in tip-top condition. You aluminium fabrication is getting really good now mate, I'm impressed! Definitely a good idea to trim those wheel arches or those tyres would be in a real mess after dragging against the Lexan. Like Damian, I also stayed with you my mate! Have a smashing weekend! :O)

Hiya matey. Hey I'm actually just in the process of enjoying your latest video. I will get back to you over there in a bit but it's looking great so far. With this vid it was a bit longer than I intended but I didn't want to leave anything out so we'll see what RU-vid makes of it. Analytics not too good so far but I thought I had to do another Arrma maintenance one as they are most of my top 10. Anyway just getting ready for the Great Dorset Steam Fair this weekend which will involve much beer. Hope you are enjoying your Friday with a pint or two. Many thanks for making to the end of my rather long one (!) Best wishes mate 😁

What a great video, I think the body looked OK with your cut. It is odd they changed it but your alteration has done the trick, other wise it would just ruin the body. The video edit was fantastic Pete, yes I did make it this far ;) All the way to the end. They look really fun vehicles and with all those tips that would give me some extra reassurance when going out to use it. Awesome job!

Hiya Damian. Yeah it's odd with the body. I think that my additional tape etc. might have made it flare out more but it was a real issue. With the edit I could have kept going and added a lot of little embellishments but I'd already spent so long on it that I thought I'd just publish it. It was sort of too much for 1 video really but I couldn't quite be bothered to split it once I'd started. Well done for making it to the end my friend, especially as you don't own one of these and the information is not that useful! Thanks for your great feedback as ever. Best wishes to you 😁

Hiya Mikael. Many thanks for watching even though you don't have any of the 3s range. I know you've got that 6s Typhon which is quite a beast. I would recommend these as they are not far off the 6s performance and much cheaper. Also the new versions of the 4s trucks look really tempting. Anyway, hope you had a great weekend my friend. Hi there Pete, oh wow! There is a lot of information in your great video. I’ve done the driveshaft thread lock on my Typhon, but not the suspension, shock tower, body strengthening & servo modification. I think that Pete won’t mind too much the thorough test. He’s obviously already had a great blast. I think I’m going to need to revisit your great video again 😁😉😊, to fully absorb all that great info. (You’re still on y short guru list 😉👊🏼). I need to upgrade to a 3s version of this truck. I have the 550 Mega and I really like it but the extra speed does look fun. Normally i am not a sped demon any more but i have beat one mine pretty well and not issues so far so I am confident with these tips it would be super tough nd hold up to almost anything!!
@PeteWylieRC

Hiya Addam. Yeah I think that the 3s versions are very different to the brushed ones. The Granite is especially wild. Wouldn't hurt to drop a new ESC and motor combo into yours. Many thanks indeed for your comments. Much appreciated 😁

I like your attitude! You really want to achieve the full potential. I'm a beginner RC driver and just finished a drive with my Arrma, also some dry sand and wet mud included. The thing is that it suddenly made a funny ratalling noise. I'm tempted to do all the mods, though curious what seems to be the issue in this case. Some guidelines would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC Год назад
Hi there. It's difficult to know what's wrong with your truck from your description. It depends under what circumstances it makes the noise and whether you can tell which end it's coming from. You probably need to get it apart and check the pinion and spur gear to see if there is grit in there and if the mesh is ok. It's always worth going through these trucks to make sure everything is as it should be. Many thanks for your kind comments about the video. Much appreciated 😁👍
@pan6260
@pan6260 Год назад
Thanks Pete! Indeed a good experience to undress the truck and see what's going on. Quickly I saw a bended alu motor mount. Also quite some grit / dirt everywhere. The diff seems to need some adjustments too. We'll see if this beginner can find his way - so my son can bash (and smash/break) it again soon 😋
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC Год назад
@@pan6260 Oh right so a few issues right there. I've done some other videos about this platform which might help. They were mainly about my Senton. Good luck!
@SnoriRC
@SnoriRC Год назад
That’s a great video. I’ve never really got to grips with slipper adjustment - I roll mine along the floor with a 2ml hex in the clutch and wait for the wheels to stop turning (whilst holding the hex tight) BUT different surfaces under the tire give different results. What would you recommend. Vorteks 3s. Cheers Again.
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC Год назад
Hi there. Well like I did at the end of the video I think that having it too loose and then test driving it and tightening it gradually until it doesn't make a squealing noise is not a bad method. Other than that the factory setting of fully tight then loosen a turn and a half is about right. Many thanks for your comments 😀
@JIPPERR_1
@JIPPERR_1 Год назад
Hi Pete, thanks for the informative vid! I just picked up a senton mega and have found that the axles are threadlocked super tight. I literally couldn't remove the axles from the diff, have you encountered this before? Any ideas how to get these apart?
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC Год назад
Hi there. Many thanks for your comments. Ooh no I've not had any that were that tight. The best thing I have is putting a hex bit in the drill driver. Obviously you need to be careful not strip the screw head. Do you actually need to get it off at the moment?
@JIPPERR_1
@JIPPERR_1 Год назад
@@PeteWylieRC thankfully I dont need to remove it now, the front gearbox was a little tight but seem to be working itself in. I have a feeling that I'll need to destroy the axles to remove them. Thankfully the car drives really nice so no need to get into the diffs to tune them. Maybe they'll loosen up on their own after i hoon it around enough lol. Cheers!

Just a heads up , DO NOT USE METAL PIVOT BALLS IN COMPOSITE ROD ENDS !!!, my plastic pivot balls wore out quickly so I hoped the hr pivot balls would be the answer but all they did was ream out the plastic rod ends. Now I'm stuck with ridiculous steering slop or buying more stuff to try to fix 2 issues (rod ends and pivot balls). Now I'm trying full metal turnbuckles that came with metal pivot balls from ebay , less than $25 bucks. No more issues .... Hope this helps save someone some time, aggravation, and money

It never ceases to amaze me how crappy some rc cars can be. No: I'm not a fan of a particular brand but I've been in this hobby for over thirty years, I have almost 300 (by now) rc cars and I've learned a thing or two about how some companies design and manufacture their products, and the disappointing quality of the electronics that they employ, not to mention of course the awful transmitters in their RTR models. In the category of electronics, Traxxas gets the prize to the crappiest ones and Arrma in the diffs category.
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC Год назад
Hi there. Yeah there are certainly things that could be better and it's a shame that more manufacturers don't make kit versions of their cars so you can build it carefully with the electronics you want. I would say though that nearly everything is better now than when I started the hobby in 1981! These Arrma trucks are in a different league to the Tamiyas I was running back then. It's good that there is a lot of choice now but you obviously still need to choose wisely. Many thanks for your great feedback. Much appreciated :-)

6:17 I did that exact same thing when I got my Arrma Vorteks 3s BLX before I was able to drive it the ones in the front was so super tight from the factory I could barely get them loose but the ones in the rear needed tightening and a drop JP WIELD on the 🔩 threads and now it's as tight as the front ones are👍👍 Another fantastic job on the video Pete all this was very insightful and helpful as well I wonder if the pick up truck body from this Granite or from the Big Rock actually fit the chassis on my Arrma Vorteks 3s BLX Pete????
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC Год назад
Hi there. Yeah these do often need a bit of sorting out from the factory. The Granite and Vorteks are both on the short chassis the the bodies may be interchangeable but I think that the Vorteks posts are lower. I've not really looked into it. The other cars are longer so the bodies wouldn't fit. Many thanks indeed for your great support as ever. It's much appreciated 😁
