😅😂😂Thanks my guy... You have just cost me 1,200 today! As soon as my Fireteam comes in, I am tearing it completely apart! I am going to do WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE from the factory!!! *MAKE ARRMA GREAT AGAIN* lol Edit: I have not been into RC for the last 9 years! No joke you have played great role/influence to me talking myself back into this endless money pit of a hobby! I hope coming back to it with this revives the fun I used to have! (and am not making a big mistake) -Former 1:8 scale buggy, and truggy racer from 2002-2012! Team XRay! Hardcore Basher/Thrasher with 3 or 4 Savages, and a couple Losi LST's ... No lie them bearings kinda crap for this quality of rc it's not a Amazon special its top of the line so should atleast have good shielded bearing.... but that's only some it... alot to explain... but that driveshaft coming out of the cup is probably what messed the bearing up when the shaft is out an bound up an your still moving the suspension up an down turning the wheels left/right while rolling is a ton of strain on the cheap bearing.... I'd be checking into why it came out pivot ball issue or droop screw issue keep that driveshaft in check an that will help your next bearing to.... keep bashing guy...

I don't see the HR Steering Blocks available for the Fireteam. What's the part number you used? My first run, I bumped into a rock and blew out the drivers side inner bearing. Seems with those BIG tires, the wheel bearings are a bit sloppy in the knuckle (steering block). I noticed that before I even took'er for a rip. That's okay... as, I'd rather have a cheap part blow out then break something costly or unobtainable.

I don't know Guy, having never ran that in water, that rust was there when you bought it and weakened that bearing and may also effect the others it appears now. Unless Arrma removes the seals and takes a close look at the bearings, they wouldn't know about that either! I don't know what their QC protocols are. But this looks like a problem that can happen to any of the RC manufactures. Really enjoyed your LIVE last night! Lot of great RC subs in there! Learned a few things! I'm also thinking that plastic carriers flex enough to perhaps put stress on the bearings and also allow for grit to pass by the bearings and get inside the carriers. In my younger days on farms and ranches, we greased bearings twice a day. I might try greasing the carrier bearings on my Maxx and keep running it in that sand to see what turns up!

Apparently i did ryn it in snow once BUT i did dry it off and wouldnt the existing oil in the bearings that are sealed supposed to keep water out?
@rt66rc86
@rt66rc86 2 года назад
@@rcguygarage Some oils would do well for that! In my earlier life, I was well involved in SWAT and Weapons Instruction in LE. One of the important aspects of "tool" maintenance that we were taught at several of the schools that I attended, was how to keep rust at bay. One product that worked extremely well at that was "Break Free", the same cleaner/lubricant that the US Military uses on their "tools". I've been using it for well over 40 years and have never suffered a rust issue on any of my own personal "tools" under any wet weather conditions. I use it on all of my fishing and hunting gear. I plan on using Break Free exclusively on all of the bearings in my own RC cars in the future after getting this education from you and others about RC bearings! You might consider trying it, it has passed stringent military tests where rust kills important equipment!

Arrma Maintenance says.. diff service after 10 packs, and shock service after 20 packs, they do not specify a service schedule for the wheel hub bearings.. but I guess you could "surmise" that if they want the diffs done at 10 packs, and shocks at 20 packs.. those bearings would be "recommended" perhaps at 10 packs ? But personally I would never even consider replacing those bearings before 20 packs.. but from seeing how the bearing looked when you pulled it out.. its a poor quality, and will def. let dirt and water in after just a few runs, just another sign of cost cutting and poor QC from a manufacturer. Its disappointing for sure and is def. holding me back from picking up any new RCs . And if I took the bearings apart for cleaning, I would have used some hi-temp grease, just for the thickness since the seal doesnt seem very good on those cheap bearings and I would worry the liquid lube would just leak out.. just my 2 pennies worth ..

I didnt make it through my first pack before having same issue. No flips, impacts or sand running. Just in a parking lot and super short grass and all the sudden it started doing donuts. Nope.. That bearing definitely shouldn't have blown out. I feel your pain, I've got RCs that are 3 or 4 years old running on original bearings.. I've also got RCs that blew bearings withing a month or so.! Btw, I've heard people say that you shouldn't oil bearings & CV/UJs if you're running in dusty conditions because you'll end up with a gritty paste inside everything which will wear your stuff out quickly. I personally don't know what's best.. Sometimes I'll oil up, sometimes I don't.. A bit like naughty fun time with the missus.! LOL.

At min 30.... you wonder why there's so much grit "in a sealed area". Well, it's not sealed. The bearings fit loosely in the steering block. They don't press in, nor have a rubber seal between bearing and block. If they PRESSED in, like a bearing into a alum wheel hub.... then, yes. They'd be sealed. The tolerances just aren't there. Maybe the Hot Racing block is a pressed in fit, and eliminates that issue?! Anyone with HR blocks who can attest to it or not?

I think it’s a FireTeam issue. My friends FireTeam has the same issue

Personally I like revolution bearings, one side shielded one side sealed, shielded side pointing inwards and sealed facing outward, find they rotate better s as no still keep out the dirt, the stock ones on my Arrma big rock v3 lasted approx 6 runs, the revolution ones I’ve had in for at least 30 packs and still running great 👍

Never heard of these until this comment, cheers, I've ordered 6 as spares to try because the Arrma stock shielded and some other brand shielded ones don't really work, my Typhon rear hub bearings always end up full of dirt and seizing.

For the size of that RC seems that the inner bearings are too small … needs to be beefier…

I feel that if you are running mostly in sandy/dusty conditions like Diamond Dust, more frequent maintenance will be required. 👍👍

Yep both my exb Mojave and my felony done this on the inside rear bearing on one wheel only. And only after 4/5 packs from new. Now I replaced them with the blue sealed bearings and sorted ....no more issues. I've had both RC'S for about 18 mths now still all good. I'm just putting it down to a bad couple of bearings. I don't understand how you popped the drive shaft out tho 🤔.... I don't Think it was related to the bearing she should have run on with the outside bearing support. Who knows. Hopefully it's ok mate. I was loving the run with this rc at DD2 before that happened great fun. I'm hoping you take it back there it's a interesting and exciting spot for testing these rc's out. Thanks T. For the repair vid 👌

The shaft popped cause the inner bearing allowed the spindle to push though the hub 👍

Has anyone tried the TRB 15x21x4mm bearings from Ama? If so... are they better than stock? Don't really want/need to put HR alum steering blocks right now, as I know that'll help solve the issues all together BUT transfer the load to another part when bashing those big tires into stationary objects.

@knowair6767

Just wanted to say, this is both a quality control issue and design flaw IMO. My bro had the same bearings fall apart on the second run with a brand new talion exb. I've replaced those same bearings on both the mojave and kraton more times than I can remember. The bearings are just too small for the job they're tasked with, add to that the "lowest priced supplier wins"..and, well you know the rest..love the channel Guy!!
@johnyortiz8774

Those bearings shouldn't crap out so quickly but that diamond dust driving is definitely tough on them. The only thing i could think of that would be as corrosive to run on for bearings would be salt water. Hoping mine don't go that quickly. I do mostly grassy field driving and no big jumps so I should be safe.

I usually give my bearing a little shot of WD 40. I'm not sure how much it helps or hurts. I do end up getting my rc's wet all the time during the winter driving in the snow. I just throw them in the bathtub to dry out since the snow isn't muddy. But I don't usually take the tires off and check bearings that often. I do check them whenever I have a reason to take the tires off. I'll be looking forward to seeing you check the bearings after the next time you drive the fire team at diamond dust to see if the oil helped or made mud!! Great little maintenance vid Guy!! 💯
