Totally agree! I took out a brushed RC for the first time in years. Every RC I own is brushless but this little 10th scale RC put one of the biggest smiles on my face. Great video and tips👍
I fell in love with the Arrma Granite as soon as i saw it,- i just had to have one. I agree with you,- i have kept mine 2wd and put a Hobbywing brushless motor and a Hobbywing esc that you can use 3s with. I have had 35 mph out of mine so far. I have an upgrade, which i bought from China,- a metal spur gear with three pinion's, 17, 19, and 21 teeth, so i'm looking forward to checking that out, and the pinions. Thank you for your videos- i think your backyard is awesome,- i would love one. Take care
Ordered a senton 4x2 ...after i saw this video now i am going to put a traxxas xl5 HV that i had laying around so she's getting 3s and a 25 dollar receiver thanks for the video
Thanks for all the detailed information. You definitely have lot's of knowledge about RC's and I come to your channel when I need guidance. Great work my friend. 👍👍
You are also comfortable with that speed, more for crawler setup and stadium truck. That's what makes that truck great for you. The Vorteks, on the other hand, is lower, more rear weight balanced, and indeed does 30mph with the optional gearing. Add the 4x4 kit in, and it was still doing 28 for me, then popped a 10bl120 esc, dumbo rc reciever, and a 19kg fast response all metal servo. Powering a 3650 5200 kv motor no less, thou I used program card to tune the bunch down just a bit, will use perfect pass eventually to dial it exactly alone the entire speed band. 2s 120c 5200mAH lipo, or 3s 120c, and it's a 60 mile an hour or so beast, that runs for 20 minutes plus, digs in and grips in dirt, hauls balls on asphalt. Put in bigger shocks, over centershaft metal support for the chassi, upgraded the tranny driveshaft gears and steering cups / wheel hubs / hub carriers. Added my own modified skid plates front and back and she's a beast that can take horrific landings from super hights at the scate park, and I'm just loving it. Word to the wise, if you aren't READY for a 60+mph truggy, go for 3250kv for 3s, or you'll scare yourself.
I just got the vortek for my son , its really disappointing my son will not play with it lol my other son has the stampede 2wd and is faster and fun . Vortek on 2s is slow dosnt jump and spins out of control no mater what . I'm not looking to spend a ton on it . Any help would be appreciated sir! I had to put in esc from is redcat blackout xte cause oem was bad new out the box . Brushed version.
I think it's a cool truck for kids or even adults to learn with....my advice is always build a kit, like a stampede or a slash...Traxxas kits are great....and you will know the R/C's in and out, but the boost would be cool also for people learning....
Excellent video and great advice for people who are thinking of upgrading this platform. It's so true that you really shouldn't consider going four-wheel drive unless you're also brushless. That being said as you pointed out the car can be really fun on two wheel drive with just few adjustments and maybe a bit more power
I have this truck and would like to just change the ESC so I can use 3S batteries and get hopefully to 25+- mph. This would be a backyard and run around the neighborhood truck, so 25mph is plenty. I'm pretty new at RC, so wanted to see if anyone could tell me the right ESC to buy and how to keep it so it still uses the same remote control and receiver (or let me know a receiver I need to buy that will work with the stock remote). I don't want to drop a ton of money into it because the 3S BLX version is only $140 more (I have one of those too). I love the look of this truck, and mid 20s speed is fine for how I'll use this one. Thanks in advance for any help.
My whole garage is full of 4 to 8S RCs, but I bought a Senton boost specifically so my son can play with it on our road and some local playgrounds. 2WD is so much fun indeed. Can you tell, roughly, how much weight you put in the rear? Thanks! 👍
Also, didn't see you mention the 5 wire servo in this thing, so when you replace esc, you need to replace that as well. Which is too bad, the one it comes with isn't as bad as many.
Would you consider and is it possible to add one of the metal wheelie bars instead of just weights. Even if it doesn't actually wheelie it would look cool lol
This video contains some very useful tips. The truck looked good in the fun runs you were making. The truck comes with a receiver esc combination. If you replace the esc to run 3S. Do you have to replace the receiver?
Do you have a recommendation to make this same model brushless. Im having fun keeping it 4x2 but a brushless motor would keep it going for longer on 2s lipo. Dont want to change out the 2in1 esc just the motor
Still not super impressed with this truck to be honest . Put a 3000 kv motor and esc combo in it and it sounds like shit lol . Melted the spur gear on the stock motor . I've had my ecx ruckus for like 8 years and all I've gone through was 2 stock motors , an esc and an a arm . Runs amazing on the 3000 kv motor and esc combo At half of the price of the arrma boost . Super disappointed that ecx is going to be gone soon .
If your going to make the model brushless and all that just spend the 300 and get the blx for the same money if not motor to do this to your this video is useless im sorry but your not teaching anyone anything in this video just making them spend more money for no reason
