I just purchased an Arrma Infraction v2. It sucks that happened to your car…but without this video I may have done the same thing right out of the box. Had no idea the speed pinion would cause that much heat on the motor and esc.
Time to put some earl Moorhead sized power in that haha. BTW of you tell horizon in the live chat that you have issues typing and would prefer a phone call they will call you! I have done it in the past!
Dang bro that sucks. And thanks for sharing. I know people are going to say "oh you were bashing around with the speed gear in it, your suppose to do 1 to 2 passes and turn it off." All the while addicted is still bashing around with his speed pinion. 🤣👍🏽. I literally had the same happen to me and my esc didn't go kabloomy but the motor lead wire came unsoldered in 2 mins of extremely light bashing with speed gear in. Castle system. But that's all it was luckily.
I burned out my infraction esc as well. It didn’t catch fire though. I was running a 25T pinion since purchasing it, so maybe 3 months of light bashing no consistent full trigger pulls back to back so i had no problems. Until summer here in AZ came. I think i got 5 min of running it and it shutdown never to turn on again lol. Overheated with the outside temp above 100 degrees, oversized pinion, and full throttle pulls.. but it never flamed on… so good thing horizon replaced yours man. Unfortunately your gona have to upgrade your electronics or run stock if you want faster speeds and longer run time. Castle 1717 combo is perfect .
Three things #1 You're in a church parking lot OBVIOUSLY yours was going to catch FIRE that's a given. #2 He TOTALLY jinxed you for sure. #3 Yes you know you shouldn't be bashing on the speed pinion you said it yourself. Good video, sorry for your loss. Time to UPGRADE THAT POWER SYSTEM!!!
What was the MAH and the C rating of the batteries you were running? I had my esc go up in smoke too...I was running 9700mah and 120C batteries...Horizon sent me a whole new Infraction.
I've been contemplating picking up a v2 Infraction lately because I find myself using my Mojave with Duratrax Thrush tires and my Typhon with Hoons to play on the street and parking lots . I wonder what caused your ESC to burn up ? Was it overgeard ? I know you were using lipos with a good C rating 🤔. I hope Horizon honors your warrantee !
