Yes, thanks for the legit review. Especially when you’re looking in this price range for a hobby. I wouldn’t be too thrilled dropping $1000 and then having to spend another $500 to upgrade everything.

I just bought one, my first true RC car like this. Mine wheelies like crazy. Especially once I calibrated the throttle. I also calibrated the servo end points.

I bought some belted Duratrax tires and it spins hard on pavement. No more wheelies but some drifts now. The Copperhead tires it came with had a nice soft compound but ballooned at high speed. I'm torn.

Anyone know of a battery tray upgrade that does NOT use straps? I hate the straps. Thinking about 3-D printing some kind of adjustable brace or enclosure. Is there something already out there?

Great video ! Getting my first Kraton in few days ! Going to quite the distance to get it also since it's no hobby store that sells it in my country ! New to the hobby and I have been soaking up your video's to get more integrated. And actually this was the video that "sold" me the Kraton. Also love your Snow videos ! my kraton was shimmed perfectly...i couldnt put another shim in them..i'll check again after a few packs have been run threw it.

@LVC RC Great review and just subscribed! Looking at getting an RC Truggy/Buggy to take on woodland walks with me ( won't be going to any skateboard parks and sending into space ) and have been looking at the Kraton, but also the Talion and the Typhon. Which would say would be the best for this ? Only 1 point to make is I have very little experience at maintaining RC cars but have seen a lot of useful vids on RU-vid to help me on the way if needed. Any advice would be much appreciated 👍✌

Thanks! I appreciate you subscribing. The Kraton, Talion, and Typhon should all work well for what you’re looking to do. I prefer the Kraton because it has larger tires and does better off road, but it’s all personal preference since they’re pretty similar vehicles. 😄👍

Same here. I was surprised when it was mentioned it was hard to wheelie as I have a hard time keeping the front wheels on the ground. However this was a great video. My biggest concern is the motor gets very hot. I thought about adding a heatsink/fan but hate to spend the money if there is no need.

Other than adding shims, do you recommend any other out of box differential adjustables. I have seen people talk about topping and changing the fluid.

It definitely never hurts to check and top off the diff fluids. 😄 The rest is typically personal preference. I added thicker fluid in the center diff of mine to make wheelies easier. 👍

Nice review, well done. 😎 Never had an issue with any of my Kraton diffs, but I have blown out a diff recently on my EXB Kraton due to doing some standing backflips. Not saying shimming them doesn't help, just saying I've never felt that it was necessary. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Ironically, the old red servos performed better than the current Spektrum ones. Pretty much every ARRMA we sell ends up having the stock servo die within the first couple of runs. Rumor has it that the BEC is set at 7.4v and the servos are only rated to 6v. Which would explain why they die so quickly and so often. Anyway, it's good to see a well balanced reviews on these cars. So often I see one sided reviews on socials, so really cool to see a well edited and presented review. 👍

Thanks so much Vas! Standing backflips are definitely brutal on diffs. 😅 I completely agree, those ADS-15M servos seemed to be much more reliable. The high BEC setting would definitely make sense, that’s very interesting. I really appreciate it, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! 👊

The best thing to do they one if you dont want to mess with diffs ever is to get the hot racing gearbox for the rear diff. Didnt break any diffs yet after a year on my kraton exb and in my notorious who is a few months old(it was converted to exb since day 1 but only the chassis remains stock) the RTR diffs are cheese if you bash hard

I got the 4s batteries for this today and she rips . Is there much a difference with 6s ? My receiver held good today and also impressed me as I’ve had others cut out and it’s annoying . All I did was drive around the infield and outfield running the bases and some full throttle . She got hot as expected with a 4s . The grass wasn’t super high . These should come with a fan or two for the motor imho . They all should at least come with one .

I wonder why they include a motor fan on the 3s blx models but dropped it for the 6s?? Seems like a no brainer and it’s not like it would cost arrma much.

Hey. I bought this for a week ago. But when i drive, after 2-3 min the tire will not turn sometimes. So i am afraid to drive fast becouse sudently it will not turn to the side i want. I most use the throotle again and then i can turn again. I have a dx3 transmitter. will it help to bind that transmitter to the car? Or is it the receiver that is broken somehow? Sorry my english.

@@jake4194 Hey.Yes i think that too. or maybe losse wired? It was like this when i got it. I have used it about 30-40 min. It can happen when it stand still too 20 sec after i turn the car on. But then again i can drive 5 min without have any issue?? haha.. i had a similar thing with my granite. And that was becouse of as loose wire, So i hop it is that now to.But i think i send it back on rep!

Hi I’m new to RC cars had a few in the 90s but nothing as good and powerful as my new kraton 6s v5 first run out of the box tapped 1 kerbstone and the rear hub exploded I have watched loads of videos on here and you guys give them hell do you upgrade the hubs out of the box or did I just have bad luck with my car changed my hubs for metal ones now just waiting to see what breaks next

Unless you plan to drive the truck super hard, you should be able to get by with the regular 6S version. I’ve had mine for years and haven’t felt the need to upgrade. 👍 Either way, have fun with it! The Kraton is an excellent truck.

Im a self confessed Arrma fan boy - but i also admit the Arrma Kraton is by far the better vehicle, on 6s, or on 4s as i run mine for safety issues etc

How does a truck of this style compare to something like a udr?

The UDR is designed more for scale driving and small jumps while the Kraton is able to handle harder bashing.

I’d suggest to tape the inside holes of the tires, if not water gets in, wet foam spins fast will rupture the tire, if taped, all good

no, the proper way is to make two to three holes on the outside center of the tires and then block the holes with epoxy, tape will come off eventually when bashing.

Great review! 👏 What wt diff oil do you recommend for the center diff? 500k or 1mil or higher? What about the front and rear diffs? They are 10k out of the box, so would 20 or 30k hurt?

Thank you! 😄 I run 500K in the center to make wheelies a little easier. I haven’t felt the need to go thicker in the front or rear, but switching to 20K-30K definitely wouldn’t hurt. 👍

The Losi DB Pro will handle better on flat ground, but the Kraton will be better at flips and getting over rough terrain. I prefer monster trucks like the Kraton, but it is ultimately up to you. 😄👍

The motor gets hot during the summer. I usually have to stop once or twice during a run for a couple of minutes for it to cool down.

I’ve been running this RTR version hard and haven’t felt the need to upgrade to an EXB. The EXB's upgrades are definitely nice for added reassurance, but they aren't required for what most people are doing with these vehicles in my opinion. 👍 I would say the RTR is the better buy.

I like the kraton but rite out of the box my servo started to make noise an had to replace it ! Shame for the money they cost !

@@ryanbetancourt583 Any decent Spektrum servo is a drop-in replacement. Anything with over 300 oz/in of torque will be sufficient, but also look for something with a speed of .15s/60deg or lower. Other brands will work but you'll need to get the appropriate servo horn to match the servo, as different brands have different splines.

Depends on what you plan to do with it. The Kraton is more capable when it comes to stunts and driving offroad, but the Typhon handles better. I prefer the Kraton, but they're both great vehicles.

I prefer the Notorious because I enjoy stunts. 👍 The Kraton is a great all-around basher though.

I really want to like arrma but I know the way I drive, I’ll taco a 6s or the diffs will shred. Erevo really puts the kraton driveline to shame, and honestly I haven’t noticed much durability wise. I did break one of the pushrods but that’s been it. No limit straps, no extra droop prevention, no super expensive anything. Even still using the plastic rear brace as it seems to hold up better than the aluminum one. Seems like my next move is the sledge.

This is bullshit! Wtf?? I crash my V4 6S into a soft, wet, round garden bed at a very moderate speed and i rip half the front end off (brand.new.Kraton :(....) yet these guys can flip it up a ramp 3 metres into the air @ 30mph, land it on the back corner (ON CONCRETE!!) and drive away.....

@@MLZDesigns lol fuck me this was a minute ago now but it's all coming back to me! Yah there was a skill issue - i didn't slow down enough and turn away from the inanimate object whoops haha, but damn, i still don't understand it from an engineering POV. It was so slow and soft and just fucking RIPPED the shockie mounts off, bent the swingarm and it's pin. Must have just been the way it caught 1 front wheel only and put all the pressure on the 2 or 3 points. I rebuilt it back then, did some nice upgrades and drove it once since lol. Rest assured, she'll get bashed eventually. Still as new atm.
