After running the same gearing and KV setups I will probably stay with the 39T limitless spool as the 45T would get really hot if I was running hard or trying to top out. However even if it was over 100 F outside already, I was surprised how well it handled the 45T. Using the spool I didn't feel like the loss of speed from dropping several teeth was enough that I really noticed. I have since stopped worrying about power and more about strength, I want to hit the 100 club. 100mph and 100ft jump, maybe in the future I will even do it with the same car LOL! Thanks for posting!
Oh since you just said this in your video. Yeah, get some ear plugs, I did and im never looking back. If you wanna MAD Science it because your broke or bored you can take a blow torch and very SLOWLYISH... lol... start heating up the diff so the silicon already in it, after most of the moisture evaporates, will solidify and you'll have a very similar substance in viscosity and the only difference I found was the ear plugs have a sticky tack feeling and start hard then loosen up after being run while the dried diff fluid has a very consistent feel the entire time after a short warm up.
My temps haven't gone over 120F with the 43t. Now it is Fall here so when I was out it was only 22C. I won't know now till next summer if I can keep the 43t on.
@@MrCovain apologies for not understanding you question and feel free to elaborate if I answer it inappropriately. From Arrma as it is the original "Spool", not Spur, that comes with the limitless along with a 29T "Speed Spool". Both gears have an 8mm bore and accept a locking pin through the center. I tested running each of these as pinions on the 8s Kraton with good results depending on the goals and demand. Hopefully this helps and wasn't too much rambling. ~ FBRC ~
@@fastnbashrc1630 no, not at all. So what are you running for your spur? Sorry for not understanding you. I have been trying to find a 39T or 35t spur gear or will any pinion gear (the right size of course) serve as a spur? The spur seems to have the D shape and therefore wouldn't need a set screw to hold it like a pinion does
Hi friend. What do you think would happen if instead of 800KV motor I use 1100kv or 1200kv castle motor ? What would be different? Top speed? Torque? Or your thoughts.
Jason how did this power hobby servo hold up? I’m about to replace my stock servo on my k8s and was looking at those along with a few other cheaper options.
i install the same setup but the reverse is faster then foward and when i applie the break slow it stops real quick and kicks in reverse quick any thoughts to it?
How those badlands the best so far for speed like 80 plus mph? My beefed up kraton 8s im having hard time finding the right tires that dont balloon alot.
So when you guys say silicone ear plugs do you actually mean silicone ear plugs that go into your ears??? Lol seams strange. I just purchased a 8s Kraton.
Hi i need some advice. I don't know if it a first but my motor's shaft just broke perhaps a small rock jammed I don't know. I saw that its not replaceable and i will have to change motor. So do you suggest to go for that upgrade 800kv or it should be best to buy again the OEM? Note that i don't want to change ESC or SERVO for keeping cost as low as possible.
Nice set-up Jason I run the HW system at this time but may be i will change for a Castle system after winter that is comming too fast, I'm Canadian also 😉Question for you man, what is the cooling fan on your motor? is it the castle one ? or is it the SkyRc ? and is it realy cool down the motor ?
I would like to buy a Castle system for the power. That being said bought a couple of Caslte ESCs and have had very bad experiences. I've had Max 8, Max 6 and Max 5 in my Rustler VXL with no problem. So for safety I would stick with Hobbywing. Love their performance but I don't want to be worrying everytime I use my ESC if it would work.
I recently got a kraton 8s and I wanted to change the servo for better response and speed what pinion and servo would you recommend for about 80-140.00 range
Perfect timing on this video. I just finished experimenting with the motors that I have and I will be needing something 🤔 I wonder how that system would preform with stock tires. I would think you would cut some weight that way, I wonder if it would bring the wheelies back. How did you like the power HD servo? I love it, it works really well on my K8S. If you haven't already, crank it up to 8.4 💪
Great Lakes RC I put the duratrax back on it to give them a try. I also had the bigger 7500mah in there. Going to run the 5000s next time I’m out. Yeah I like the servo. But the stock one on 8.4 wasn’t bad.
You mentioned that the 1100kv combination would be the sweet spot for this truck . What would be the difference between the 800kv and the 1100kv . And is there a really big difference of stock to warrant up grade
He is getting the speed- nobody wants to keep flipping it over. I have this exact truck and setup and an xmaxx with the same setup and you need the tall gears
I’m fairly new to electric rc. Used to run nitro. I’m struggling to understand the kv ratings. So just a quick question. What is the difference between the 800kv that you fitted, and the 1100kv that as been suggested? Cheers
@@DaveK155 1100 rpm per volt. So for 30 volts the motor will spin at 33,000 rpm. For a 800 kV motor at 30 volts will spin at 24,000 rpm (but at higher torque for similar motor size).
@@MrCovain I ended up with the 1100kv motor and 35/47 gearing. I would recommend that if you still don't have the 800kv. You hit top speeds way faster. No issues so far for me. And better battery life too. I got it off Ebay. The 35t I bought it from Saga Customs. Great pinions for the price
@@MrCovain How long battery life do you get? I get around 15 minutes with that 35/47 gearing 1100kv motor and 5500mAh batteries. Yeah these giant motors are battery hogs. 15 minutes is considered "normal". I saw someone running 40/47 gearing on their K8S and they were happy with that ratio. I tried 39/39 gearing when I had the 800kv motor. It was OK, but I prefer the 1100kv motors since they don't need very tall gearing to get things going. And it feels faster, since you get to 55pmh on grass/dirt quicker than the 800kv one.
