Poor dude is so used to people yelling at him or getting angry at him for keeping secrets he looked so surprised that Thea actually hugged him and thanked him.
He didn't even registered her gratitude and emotion until she said "thank you" even when before she said "you were saving someone's life". I will forever feel sorry for Oliver, he was extremely misunderstood and judged, no one ever wanted to look things from his perspective they only wsnted to question him.
This is a great scene, and I feel like it's the most accurate reveal scene for a superhero. They always have somebody get angry or something, which makes no sense. Thea appreciated that Oliver was saving people, that's a realistic reaction.
It might have something to do with the fact she kept her training with Malcolm a secret from Oliver and understands what kind of life it is after spending that time with Malcolm
I think pretty much all of the reveals in this show are accurate. Even when the show is terrible, the reveals are still amazing moments that feel realistic. Everyone is pretty much in awe of Oliver when he tells them (in a good way). Except for Tommy but, it makes sense at least one person would hate him for it and it also makes sense that it would Tommy.
Wow the differences between Thea and Diggle is huge. Diggle called Oliver a murderer and Thea was opened and very thankful for her brother. Love Thea’s reaction.
Yeah but Arrow was still new, he wasn't known as a hero yet to be fair. I think the night Ollie saved the hostages from Merlyn was the night people stopped calling him a vigilante.
This has been and always will be my favorite superhero reveal because Thea actually treats it like a normal person I would imagine not freaking out about being lied to like some cry baby it's not lying it's just not related to you thank you so much directors for making this scene
It's my favorite reveal of the entire arrowverse. Oliver is just sitting in the back kinda expecting (to me anyways) for thea to be mad and yell at him for lying all these years but she totally swerves him by hugging him and being happy about it.
Thea has the best arc in the first seasons. She went from a pain in the ass to a mature young adult very quickly but not without few key developing moments.
I always come back here to appreciate how this remains the BEST reaction to a superhero identity reveal imo. Actually giving the hero the thanks they never expect to get.
i cry every time i watch this scene. knowing that someone appreciates you for doing your thing instead of being who people think you should be is very heart warming moment. Thea could have turned on him but instead she loved him for what he had been doing. probably the best moment in this whole series
I ❤ Thea's reaction when she found out Oliver's secret. It was so sweet how she said "thank you" and hugged him😍. I also ❤ how @ 3:55 when she was talking about how Malcom was trying to "drive a wedge between her and Ollie", she stepped closer to Oliver as she was saying it. This will always be my favorite reveal. 😍 My 2nd favorite one is when Roy finds out. I just ❤ how instead of being angry, they both say thank you, and Roy said that Oliver saved his life. 😍💚🏹😉
The only bs thing about this show is the fact that thea was able to hold her own against oliver in a fight after having only a couple months worth of training. Oliver was trained by shado and slade for almost five years to get to where he was at so the fact that she improved so much from Malcolm's teaching on top of the fact that Malcolm wasn't as good of a fighter compared to slade is beyond me.
Think abt it this way, On those five years away oliver wasn’t training constantly. He had multiple problems to solve along the way and yes he did become a damn good fighter because of it, but in the then span of around 8 or 9 months thea was only training every single day with malcom. She’s also the daughter of malcom who became a very skilled fighter in the time that he left to nanda parbat. And ofc there’s some plot convenience that can be attributed to thea’s fighting ability.
This scene is the most realistic secret-identity reveal and is also my favorite. The way Thea acts is the way that most family members would act on real life. Most T.V shows and movies have family members or close friends freak out because they were "lied to" Supergirl I'm looking at you (when Kara told her best friend the truth she freaked out for being "lied" to) This scene always puts me on the verge of tears.
Sibling bond vs. lovers. Thea had secrets of her own. Iris didn't. Stop comparing them FFS. Barry had a billion chances to tell Iris when he was flirting with her. Iris is not a bad person for getting angry about someone boldfaced lying to her. She has every right to feel how she feels. All I see in the comment section is men wanting women to just get over it already and be OK with a man's behavior regardless. SMDH. 🙄🙄
@@misspriss2482she’s not seeing his side of it tho. If his enemies found out that Barry was the flash Iris would be a soft target. I mean come on, the guy is a MASKED SUPERHERO. Oliver actually made this point in season 1 of arrow when Laurel asks the hood why he hides his face. “To protect the ones I care about.” Thea understood why he kept his secret for so long and was grateful not because she had secrets of her own but simply because it’s a really fair reason to lie. You have a less chance of being outed if you’re the only one who knows. Keeping the circle small is what keeps your identity secret. Iris needed to get over herself.
@@misspriss2482Why did you make it a gender thing? If you find out someone close to you was secretly put every night risking their lives so that they could keep others safe, the normal reaction would be to be notably worried, but proud more than anything. Look at how well Barry’s dad took it. Even Moira who was actually threatened with an arrow by Oliver in season 1 never got offended by not being told. The smartest thing to do is keep your identity secret to loved ones
I think the Supergirl show saw potential in a sibling bond because of Oliver and Thea. They realized the arrow had wasted an opportunity to make a bond that goes beyond romantic love. Alex and Kara are the heart of that show and it's all thanks to Thea and Oliver. I wish the Arrow showrunners had seen what they had sooner instead of ruining it with Olicity useless drama
Thea was Oliver's greatest strength and most valuable relationship. She loved her brother very much. Yes there were times when she was mad at ollie, but she never stopped loving him, believing in him and supporting him. Diggle left him at the end, Even the self righteous felicity left Oliver for a stupid reason and didn't hesitate to move on without a second thought, but thea always loved and stayed by her brother's side. Their relationship was the best in arrow.
The scene where Thea confronts Malcolm is the kind of scene the other hero shows never do but should. People kiss and make up way too easy on these shows. I can think of so many times in this other shows where betrayal and manipulation are never discussed after they kiss and make up
Yeah, I really enjoyed this because this reveal never allowed her relationship with Malcolm to ever recover. Because ever since oliver remained an open book with her while Malcolm always kept dangerous secrets from her. But as much as she resented him, he did love her in his own way he knew how and died to save her.
Thea je neuvěřitelně empatická, chytrá a povzbuzující. Vždy ví co správného říci v danou chvíli. To umí málokdo. Umí povzbudit a dát člověku naději, radu...
I really wish we would have gotten more Oliver and Thea moments. Seasons 1-3 you honestly felt they had a brother sister dynamic. Like one that is sincere. Yes, they get mad at each other but their bond is really something. But nah.. let's get more drama with Felicity..
We can all agree that THIS SCENE IS BEAUTIFUL, BUT you have to stop acting like this was the only time Oliver revealed his identity without pissing people when -BARRY -LAUREL -FELICITY Where totally ok with Oliver's secret & acted pretty rational about it
Yah but Barry did have an issue with the way Oliver handled his vigilantism which is what people kinda mean Barry got mad at Oliver for torturing people dig called him a murderer and what not
The thing is she got. To know the truth straight from. Oliver but iris. Figured it out herself that Barry was the flash and. If she hadn't. The would have kept. Lying -there is a difference
So go watch the mothers reaction too and come back and say it's about being told vs figuring it out. It's about better writing. Iris was an awful character the entire time thru with zero consistency and forced into the script more and more.
@@_martinirvana Yep in the 1980's Fury of Firestorm, the character started out as an NYC-based software corporation CEO who had an antagonistic relationship initially with Firestorm. She eventually married Ed Raymond, not knowing that Ronnie Raymond was half of Firestorm. Oh, and she was initially not blond, but had raven-black hair.
I'm surprised that Thea's happy about finding out Oliver is the Arrow. She was already mad at him for not telling her Malcolm is her father even though he just found out, made a big deal about how she hates being lied to and alienated both Oliver and their mom for being liars. She was mad at him over a secret he just found about, but she's not a mad about A MUCH BIGGER secret he kept from her for 3 years?! And this is after everything he put her through to keep her from finding out (lying to her, alienating her, making her leave town with Merlyn, telling Nyssa she's Merlyn's daughter causing Nyssa to kidnap her, etc.)
I feel bad for the actress playing Thea- the writers didn’t do a good job allowing her to be the blend of Malcom and Moira. It makes sense that Thea has flaws; Moira and Malcom had them. However, Moira and Robert raised Thea and I don’t see a lot of Robert in Thea in this show. That was the mistake of the character, she’s not like Tommy and she’s not like Robert. The good qualities are Moira and her terrible qualities are all evil Malcom and that’s just not how that works with adoptive children.
