I thought Sterling played well. He had a couple of chances, but I was most pleased to see him tracking back and tackling back out of possession. Hopefully he will get fit enough to do it regularly.
@@ibinho10 definitely. He had a run of games at his less favoured position of LB last season and did really well until he came up against Leroy Sane. I think it's harsh to judge him while playing out of position against one of the best and quickest right wingers in football. Most fullbacks struggle against him.
I can understand what you're trying to get at but no. Just no, it was Preston North End... It's not exactly the high level football you're talking about. he's a decent player at best. We need to improve on him in the summer.
@@fabioruiz6602 I understand your point of view. I don't think he'll ever be a success at Arsenal unless Gabriel has a long-term injury (touch wood he does not). I also don't see what top class CB is coming to play second fiddle to Gabriel. Arteta's CBs are the least rotated position when fit. No top class player will do that to their career.
On nwaneri, the most positive thing for me is his decision making and his ability to see an incisive pass to unlock defences. It's ok running with the ball, beating players and scoring goals but having vision and mature decision making sets him apart from other technically excellent young players. He's going to be an awesome player.
Nwaneri is levels! If he's truly Ødegaard's understudy then it's time he plays in the more difficult games. I absolutely love the way he plays! He's such a gem
Unfortunately arteta has wasted the chances which should of been given to ethan , much like fabio viera when odegaard is back he wont get a sniff. Ive always been a greta fan of arteta but he doesnt trust youth and it is becoming damaging to the team
@radcliffebroomes9531 yeah but it was still basically a message to the academy after losing out on a few players and Ethan not yet signing his contract at the time. Clearly he had ability but it was a deeper message
It could have easily been a 5 or 6 goals in favour of the Gunners. I wish Raheem scored, it would have helped him gain a good boost in confidence before playing the games away from home.
Was at the game last night brilliant support. I cant remember seeing a player at this age that the ball literally sticks to his feet when hes on the ball and is so calm under pressure. Big future ahead for Ethan no doubt.
I thought Sterling was unlucky to not score, in a lot of instances Preston defended pretty well. Think they had 2 goal line clearances, that one when Kai was through and squared it to Sterling defender was spot on in the goal.
In regards to load management, people tend to misunderstand what the concept entails. Load management is not just about taking time off. Load management is balancing an acute load with a chronic load. Reducing the risk of injury involves establishing AND maintaining a chronic workload without large changes in the daily(acute) workload. Athletes need to play or train to maintain fitness/workload
Seen a couple of podcast interviews with physios. They all say the same thing. Which is why I never get the anger when a player comes on for a few minutes midweek.
Can't, and mustn't, rush a 17 year old. Football isn't all about ability, it's also about having the mentality and experience to read what is going on and the tactical awareness- especially in a system like what Arteta implements. There's also managing the expectation that is placed upon him and protecting his mental state. He will, and MLS as well, will play more as the season progresses though - especially in games we're leading 3-0 with 20 minutes to go. I think he's already played more minutes than Saka had at the same age? And i guess Foden too?
Exactly. It took YEARS for Pep to make Foden start with any kind of regularity. No rush at all. Getting play time when you can is great for a talented kid his age, especially when we're challenging for the title, as opposed to hoping to return to the Top 4 like when Saka came onto the scene. 👍
People forget he came on at 1-1 vs southampton and changed the game in 10 mins. He was taking on southampton defenders treating them like they were 17, then he didnt get another chance for weeks and arteta played 3 dms vs bournemouth .. which we lost by having no creativity
Arsenal content from the reliable CW, part of my daily routine, appreciated with thanks. May I put this out to your viewers for consideration - When Arteta began his reign, the fans creative new songs for players - awesome, loved it. Our stadium developed an atmosphere again! Sadly, most songs are not timeless, after hearing 10000+ times, some make me cringe, hearing the line in Arteta song 'he knows exactly what we need', almost as lame as last line of the great belter "we are the Tottenham 'haters'". (Haters, really, is that the best ending.) To our vocal supporters, please, please keep singing and to our creative genius's please keep creating. - IMO Kai deserves new song + current only should be sung at Chelsea, no one else cares how much we paid. Also - We got super Mik Arteta - should be the only line sung, repetitively, maybe a few areas of stand singing like we did with " we are the 'north bank or we are the south bank' of Arsenal. Tribalistic, minimal worded continual rolling chants seem to be proven for atmosphere and offering longevity. - Arsenal need chants with longevity as will be winning and singing for many seasons to come.
It just goes to show that Arteta knows exactly what he needs to play the kid at the right time. Okay, it’s against Lesser opposition but he will get plenty of opportunities this season. Maybe not against Newcastle, Chelsea or Inter as we need experience against these teams but his time will come. I know there’s a lot of managers on social media that thinks she should be playing now. I’m just glad it’s our manager in charge of that.😂
I just can’t stop thinking about what might have been if Ethan started the last few PL matches, instead of such a make shift midfield in Martin’s absence
Arteta cost us the game at bournemouth and nearly shatkar for this reason. Ive always been such a supporter of arteta but this season he has been far too cautious and it has cost us points, especially with nwaneri at bournemouth
Nwaneri's goal and the similar shot he had hit the bar, no PL keeper is stopping either of those and, very much like Saka, he's really up for taking the shot instead of waiting and waiting for the perfect pass.
Strange comment. A premier league keeper or any keeper for that matter doesn’t have to save a shot that’s off target! 😂 Nobody scores when they hit the crossbar and the ball goes over! Nwaneri is a great looking player his shooting is dangerous I’m not doubting him just your comment
Mr Charles one of the best in the game very informative calm and arsenal like 👍 Ethan is him Arteta needs to play him that prove himself even from pre season
Extra Time: Hi Charles and James. Do you think Arteta is taking the Carabao more seriously this season was shocked (in a good way) by the strength of the squad yesterday and do you think the strength of the squad is motivated by the fact that Arteta (obviously) wants to win silverware this season
Extra time: Morning Charles from Texas! As we approach the January window, have you heard anything about potential targets? What positions/who do you and James think we should target?
EXTRA TIME As difficult as it will be, I can't wait for the next 3 games before the international break. All away from home, big stadiums/atmospheres. What a week & a great opportunity to get momentum going again. What is your favourite run of 3/4 games in yesteryear? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have a memory of the 15/16 season where we beat Spurs in the league cup (Flamini at the double!), then smashed United 3-0 at home & then went on to beat Bayern 2-0 a few days after! The Invincibles season had some great weeks too. Cheers! Ben
Regarding the question of why bring on saka and partey in what feels like a pointless game, I believe it's because they will now get a day off from training, so this actually is better for managing their load
Kiwior and Sterling deserve respect. The defender has been mostly good when he's had to fill in. We've had worse defenders starting in the last decade. Arsenal fans need to separate their personal feelings on Sterling from the player representing our club. He's been dangerous making things happen and keeping defenders guessing. Hate him or love him, you can't deny the fact he keeps opposition defenders on edge when he takes them on or makes runs into the box. Get behind the team!
I know Sterling hasn't exactly hit the ground running, but without signing him it probably would have been saka played on the right wing again. Giving him these rests will be invaluable by the end of the season
Question for later show. Concerning our transfers, we have been much better, recently had a profit after a while, but I always feel we could do even better. How much blame do you put on Arteta when it comes to our sales, knowing that he has had tendencies of freezing out players instead of giving them enough minutes especially in games we are winning so that their value doesn't tank??
Kiwior seems like a player who is too down to earth and needs some more confidence / arrogance. He needs to believe he’s top class because he’s got the potential.
Is his slow introduction to the prem something to do with him training different to other players? He’s 17 and 18 in April, so I assume he’s on a part time table at 6th form. Maybe he can’t do as many sessions as the rest of the team, so Arteta sees him as not fit enough ?
Extra Time - Hi guys, just a quick one to follow up the recent ref/VAR calls, what percentage of Refs actually stick to their original decision after being told to go to the monitor? I would think it’s pretty low.
Charles line so many Arteta fanboys are in total denial. This season is a write off. Our attack is absolutely rubbish. Under this manager and Edu tjey jaave spent 800m plus. Bought 29 of 26 defensive players. We have no strikers, no comp.for Saka, no comp.for Odegaard We will struggle all seadon to score and now Gabriel, Saka, Odegaard, erc are all struggling. Jesus has been catastrophic failure, Zimchenko is a failure, Haveetz will ultimately go down as a massive mistake costing g tje title two years in a row. This manager has failed completely to deliver any trophies and we are glinf backwards this seadon. He is high off all tje false liase he keeps receiving. We are basically a boring team to watch mostly defensive with no proper strikers , no attacking playmaker. You can see gje type.of.playwr qe need when Nwaneri players last night. Instead qe got Merino another DM. This seadon is finished we will win no PL and no CL. Arteta OUT Edu OUT Kroenke OUT Charles OUT Le Grove OUT Untold OUT
Im sorry bro don't know what you're on about unless there is a sterling agenda on the go? Seriously don't get arsenal fans añd how impatient they can be and most cases theyre always proven wrong with the biased assertions they have for certain players as opp to their least liked. First Partey/Harvetz to Jesus and now Sterling dont yall ever get tired of being wrong?
Extratime: Given the news that Odegaard is targeting a return soon, and that Partey is in best form recently. Is Merino the one dropping out of the starting eleven?
What questions? And why? Why the impatience, the kid is 17 until March. Why the rush!? Surely Arteta, who knows the lad personally, is more capable than you to see what's best for his development?
I disagree. It doesn't matter at all whether he starts or not. 🤷🏻♂️ It's about progressively getting more play time when it's the most useful for the team & when his development can be managed the best IMO. Why would Trossard or Kai be dropped for him? It's already _amazing_ that he would be in the rotation, coming from the bench, etc. :)
The moaning about certain players getting minutes is utter nonsense. What do you think they’ll do if they don’t play? They’ll train and it might be a harder session than 30 minutes against Preston. Could they get injured yes but how many times has Partey been injured at training! The important thing is they won’t be injured from fatigue in 30 minutes.
