Hey Charles, I work for Islington Council and am a manager for a service that will be very seriously impacted by any potential parade. The original date proposed would have caused us a HUGE amount of trouble. My boss first broached it on the day of the first Bayern game with "Apparently Arsenal are doing really well in the league so we need to plan for a potential parade." The trouble became apparent really quickly but I couldn't bring myself to care very much. Yes, I love my job and I do care about the service I run, but oh my god I want a parade so badly that I just don't care. I responded to the trouble by going and putting my Arsenal shirt on. Priorities man!!!

If Wojciech wants to coach in the future it would make a lot of sense to be number 2 keeper under Arteta and be a part of that system.

Hi Charles, avid listener but first time contributor. My question is regarding the goalkeeper situation at Arsenal in light of the links to Wojciech Szczesny’s possible return to the Emirates, I read a tabloid article this morning and saw additional links to Brightons Jason Steel and Diant Raman of Ajax. I would like to put a name up for a back up keeper that as far as I am aware, no one has mentioned and that is Thomas Kaminski from Luton. From what I have seen of him he is absolute quality and has been a stand out performer in an otherwise average side and for mine, a big reason Luton are still in with a shout of staying in the PL. If they do eventually get relegated this season surely a number two spot at Arsenal would hold more appeal than playing in the championship. He is 31, so a great age for a keeper and as it looks like he will be the first choice keeper for Belgium at the Euros due to the injury to Thibaut Courtois, this will have no immediate impact his international aspirations. What do you think?

I only want players who are desperate to play for Arsenal at the club. It sounds like Zubimendi doesn't want to leave. If he's home sick we won't get the best out of him. I think we should explore other CM options. Great content as always Charles! Best, Rob

Arsenal did win the Community Charity Shield this year and that's a trophy. Even if it does not win any other trophy, the joy that this team brought to the fans has been incredible this year. It is so much more fun to watch the Gunners play these days vs days from the end of Invincible era to start of 2022/23 season. COYG, onward and upward!

Hey Charles, to me the keeper question is about profile primarily. I agree that we need an older keeper that would be happy to sit on the bench but is still a good quality (not a runnarson v2) However we need that keeper to be able to play as high as Raya and be comfortable on the ball. I haven’t watched much of Wojtek since he left, but not sure he could do that role. I wonder if there are any ball playing GK’s in there mid-30’s at all?

I also think we should take a look at Marcin Bulka at Nice for GK. He's homegrown too

Does Szczesny make sense as the signing for Arsenal's second choice goalkeeper? Shouldn't Arsenal be prioritising signing a goalkeeper that can play with their feet so the goalkeeper can fit the style of play? Don't want to have a Matt Turner situation again.

If Szczesny is available we should go for him. He is still playing at a very high level and we know we would get an experienced reliable keeper. If we have an inexperienced goalkeeper who has to step in at any stage next season, we are taking a big risk. As we see in the run in, a single point even goal difference matters. An experienced number 2 keeper is vital and Szczesny fits the bill.

Hi Charles - great stuff as always. The more I watch Arteta and his team, the more I think we are missing the point talking about "signing a 5 or 8" or "signing a 9 or 10". Would you agree that Arteta thinks much more about skillset and areas of the pitch that a player can cover? That is why the Guimaraes rumours are so interesting. He is one of those guys that isn't necessarily a 6 or an 8, but just a very good all-round midfielder, like Rice. If Partey and Jorginho are both staying, that would give Arteta fantastic options in midfield. Partey could be rested, and you could go Rice at 6 with Guimaraes at 8 or Rice could be rested, and you could go Partey/Jorginho at 6 and Guimaraes at 8. And you could certainly try that Guimaraes/Rice/Odegaard midfield with Bruno deeper in the central role. I just think if you bought a Zubimendi type, you'd have 3 guys for one position (if Partey stays) and no real cover for Odegaard or Rice in the 8 role.

To be honest Charles, I'd take Szczesny as a number 2, he knows the club well, the club knows him well and lastly, the fans know him well. He's an ideal fit in my opinion.

Hi Charles, hope all is well! Seeing the different opinions of people is interesting regarding the summer transfer window. I personally believe that any player who comes in needs to be able to add something to the squad. We could still do with some different player profiles in this squad to help propel us even further and to be even more unpredictable. I also believe that we will need a mixture of top quality young blood (the likes of Eze/Olise/Musiala) and experienced top quality players (Kimmich/Gyokeres/Watkins/Isak/FDJ). Extra time - Hi Charles, I hope all is well. It seems like Arteta has found his “closers” a core group of players that are relied upon to see out the good work done from the first half of the season. I think the summer will be about keeping players such as Jesus, trossard and another pacy attacking option on the bench as well as a new defensive profile, that could potentially allow us to push a centre half into the midfield and allow Rice to then push on into the 8. I am not convinced with Arteta being down with the Havertz left 8 project and it seems that, that side of the pitch is designed to evolve on a manner where people move out spaces and into new spaces. I think a new 6 will the ideal signing and bedding a new 6 in rotating with J20 would be a good plan and using J20, and Partey to see out the run in I would like Bruno from Newcastle as the 6 I like how ball playing ability, vertical passing and nastiness.

Young player of the year should have an appearance limit of say maybe a season or 2 so say 50 appearances and what about okwonkwo for 2nd keeper? Not sure how he's got on with Wrexham or will he just be loaned/sold?

Hi Charles, If I had the choice of a young talented marquee signing who is a potential game changer it would be Jamal Musiala, he is outstanding. he has the ability to take 2/3 players out of the game with his blistering pace and technical ability. No doubt he is one of the most exciting attacking players currently out there but at just 21 years old it is frightening the heights he could reach. No idea on he’s value but I would imagine him to be pricey. Would we be able to lure a player like that from a huge European club like Bayern? What’s your thoughts?

What about Alex Palmer from West Brom, he is very commanding in the box, very strong physically which would make him a good goal keeper for Arsenal as a back up!

People aren't very hopeful of Spurs doing us a favour but there's definitely a few things that could go in our favour which wouldn't them too. Liverpool playing Villa, if villa lose And Spurs beat Burnley top 4 is still very much a possibility. Villa also playing a very on form Palace team away with 4 wins and a draw in their last 5 Spurs have Burnley and sheffield which you would imagine would be wins meaning the city game could be integral towards getting ucl football. Also recent form with Spurs is a bad look for Ange who I can't imagine will be very willing to roll over to city considering his own integrity and the integrity of the sport. City have also never scored at the lane. I'm not saying they will beat city but I don't think it's a clear cut as everyone seems to think. COYG

Bad management of the GK situation imho. Arteta's failure to rotate the GK position has led to what Charles describes as a crisis. It seems pointless to bring in an old has been for the No2 position. What happens if Raya has to go off due to an injury and we are left with a second rate keeper as a replacement. We should have 2 top class keepers and Arteta should just get his act together and rotate the position.

Arsenal's biggest sellable asset at the end of season is Martinelli. I fear he might have reached his ceiling considering Arteta was willing to spend big Money for Mudryk just about 2 years ago. Leroy Sane will be an upgrade for sure.

If Wojciech’s wages are £100,000 after tax, that can’t be too far off Ramsdale (especially since his renewal). Google suggests Ramsdale’s on £120k. And we should be getting in excess of £30M for Ramsdale which is effectively a refund of what we paid (inflation included). So, in effect, you’re getting a refund of Ramsdale’s fee whilst paying out the same wages Ramsdale’s currently on. No brainer.

Hi Charles, Szczesny does seem like the romantic option, but serious question, does he have the character we would be looking for as a role model senior player? I remember the smoking in the shower incident which I think is why Wenger ended up being keen to move him on. Arteta worked so hard to purge our team of this with Auba & Laca, is there a risk that he’d be inviting someone into the team that doesn’t fit our ethos?
