Just finished up the making of this cute little flowery number. It's a rather traditional type of Art Nouveau stained glass design and I think it looks rather gourgous in this smaller window 😁
💚🧡💛💚💛🧡💚
Hope everyone's had a fantastic week

Great job! Thanks for the video. I was inspired by your work last year and started doing it too. I also thought that I would cut the lead profile as easily as yours. But in fact, we sell a very hard lead profile and I use a hammer to help the knife cut it))) Greetings from Kaliningrad!

Yes the lead came does look softer in the videos than it is in real life! With the videos being spend up people do think it's as soft as butter 😂. Super happy to hear you're enjoying the craft 💜🧡

So pretty. Can you do an art deco decoration please? Also are the ingredients still the same for the cement or have they been modernised? Thanks for showing your designs. So lovely to see traditional crafts still active and in use 👏

Hi Louise, I'll be filming the next interesting Art Deco project that comes along for sure 👍. All the videos I post up are just jobs that come through the door. I don't ever seem to have the time to make anything for myself 😂🫶

Another great piece! Question: When doing the cement process, do you do one side and then wait for it to dry, or do both sides right after the other? Just wondering if doing the other side right after would make some cement oozes out on the opposite side?
@LightLeadedDesigns
@LightLeadedDesigns 6 месяцев назад
Nah I cement both at the same time, I want the cement to ooze through as it shows I've not missed any bits 💜

Very nice! Boy, this one had a few small pieces that looked fun to fit with the lead. You don't grind much, is it because of the transparent glass breaking so easily? And, I liked the owl in the background. 🙂
@LightLeadedDesigns
@LightLeadedDesigns 6 месяцев назад
Tbh it really doesn't make a difference if it's opaque or transparent glass it mostly cuts the same 🍻🍻🍻

these pieces made for doors don't need any reinforcement?
@LightLeadedDesigns
@LightLeadedDesigns 3 месяца назад
It all depends on the application and size, there are a few ways to add extra support from secondary glazing adding external reinforcement bars 🧡

You make it look super easy! I see you are using paste/liquid flux to solder? Is there a reason why you don't use tallow? (I suspect cleaning the mess might be a factor :)), but I wondered how do you clean the paste/liquid flux off the lead after soldering?
@LightLeadedDesigns
@LightLeadedDesigns Месяц назад
I use a standard plumbing flux paste as I like using a brush to apply it. It really does save from all the mess 💛❤️🩷
@anetaaureliapetrankova4470
@anetaaureliapetrankova4470 Месяц назад
@@LightLeadedDesigns thank you! May I ask how do you clean the flux off the lead came afterwards? Do you use any soap and water or even a flux remover? Do you just wipe the joints or soak the piece completely to wash and rinse it off? That would add extra time to the process I guess in terms of drying..

Quick question. I’ve seen some videos where people use whiting to both help polish the glass and harden the cement. Do you ever use that? I tried it and it was the messiest part of the whole process. lol
@LightLeadedDesigns
@LightLeadedDesigns 20 дней назад
I still have a big bag of whiting at the workshop but I prefer not to use it as it is super messy!!

You would be very wise to wear rubber gloves working with lead came. I gave that same advice to a husband/wife/daughter stained glass artisans some 30 years ago who all got lead poisoning.

I have regular blood tests at the doctors to make sure my blood levels are very normal. Been doing it for 26 years now ❤️
@alandavis6429
@alandavis6429 5 месяцев назад
@@LightLeadedDesigns then you need to compare the cost of rubber gloves to the cost of dying a terrible death. If you think your hands are somehow different than everyone else then you are a fool. There is absolutely no medically known way that you have been handling lead came for 26 years and not absorbed the lead, I would question the testing. Care to guess how many people have said "I should have listened when I was younger" ?

My mentors who have been doing SG for 30+ years tested every 6 months. Never had a high lead level result. I would venture to say Jan is cautious and certainly knows the risks involved. No need to be rude.
