Art Of Shaving Sandalwood - Muhle R41 - RazoRock Plissoft 

Had a great shave last night with Proraso green. Really need to get my hands on the red. Proraso has been responsible for some of my best shaves. Have a great day everyone!

More and more my feeling on aggressive razors is that I would rather favor the mild to moderate ones, adjusting performance with an aggressive blade and taking all the time needed to get that clean shave. I look upon the Muhle R41 a bit wary!

Cracking shave Kevy boy! I'm building up the courage to use my r41 on my face! Used it on my head several times as it cuts through the thicker hair with ease! Looking forward to it all the same though! Cheers Cris

I got the Grande version of this yesterday. Apart from a couple of tiny weepers and a tiny bit of razor burn under my chin (through lack of experience with this razor) the shave went well. But by GOD is this thing efficient. Takes more off in one pass, that my usual razor (Rockwell 6S plate 6) does in two passes and a touchup. Nice having a second razor in my collection to choose from. I paired it with an Astra SP blade, and I think these will be my blade of choice in the R41 for the foreseeable future. I want to gain more experience with this razor, and the last thing I want to do is confuse matters by putting different brands of blades in. Looking forward to getting some more experience under my belt with the R41. Definitely demands respect, but rewards with the closest shaves you'll probably get with a DE razor.

Yay, another upload. Happy to see a new video from you. I regularly shave with a Fatip Grande, and some will say it's aggressive, but it's smooth compared to an R41 or Ikon Shavecraft Tech (which I have) lol. Until you use a razor that's that aggressive, you have no idea what it's like. You really feel the blade, especially when you go against the grain. But, really, the shave from a super aggressive razor is just incomparable to shaving with a mild razor (in terms of the closeness of the shave, imo).

Well done Kevy, it's good to see you prepared to push it out and test yourself, a lot of us rarely move away from the razors we know we can use comfortably 😌👏 I've learned so much from using my shavette, it's made me realise what light pressure, angles, technique, etc really mean for that or any razor, and I'm sure it's no different with an R41 😌👍 Have fun at the theatre with Mrs P !

AOS Sandalwood was the first 'proper' shaving product I ever used, many years ago. There used to be a men's shaving concession in an arcade off Buchanan Street, Glasgow. When the arcade was refurbished, the concessions were forced out. I think they weren't posh enough for the developers! I haven't used it since.

kevy good video I got the laser blades they are sharp and smooth comfortable made in the UK shaved this morning I used Gibson razor with laser blade

TAOS is the most honest sandalwood scent, if I had my two cents. I love the Prosaso, but it's more of a sandalwood & shea scent.The R41 is a brash beastie. A great shave as usual, mate. Cheers! Enjoy the Scottish play.

Did you ever try the Skin Bracer from Mennen that your nephew picked up from Walgreens? I tried it for the first time tonight (11/20) and it was pretty good. I also did the conditioner trick for a preshave as you mentioned. It did pretty good and I ended up having a great shave. I also used a new Omega 6215 Super Badger brush which worked quite well. It still had the slight smell that comes with the natural hair, but it will fade with use and time. LOL

Kevy, nice vid. I have one of these but am a bit afraid of using it... . Most people seem to get cut on 2nd or 3rd pass. I think I am willing to only take one pass; how does it comprare to Merkur 37 or Progress @ 3.5? Thanks

Kevy thanks for making this video. I have recently started using Art of Shaving Cream. I notice you had a nice thick lather. I cannot seem to get a nice thick lather like you got. So, what generally makes the lather thick in most cases? The brush? How wet I get it? How much of the cream I put in the bowl before I start mixing? Your advise would be greatly appreciated. I love your videos and I appreciate you doing this cream.

Just received my R41 had a couple of shaves with it, it's a pretty lethal weapon if you being not careful! Surpisingly didn't cut myself as bad as I was expecting because I jumped straight from a merkur 38c to the R41.ahah Watching the video I was thinking the whole time there's going to be some sting in the after shave.lol

Careful Kevy, the 41 is a straight-razor in disguise. Oh, and you're right, "The Art of Shaving" is a division of "Gillette," which is owned by "Proctor and Gamble." Kind of takes the charm out of it, doesn't it? It's real nice cream, but it sells for $25 in the States. That's high.

I'm from Philadelphia and we have an art of shaving but I did not had a chance to go in the store yet.

When I shave with the R41 I just apply enough pressure to keep the blade in contact with my skin, and my version, the R41 Twist, helps with its own weight. if I take my time and keep my concentration for the duration of the shave, I get a fantastic shave and zero cuts. Obviously i got nicked a few times...

Nice video! Just wondering how close or similar is the Fine aftershave you used to the Art of Shaving sandalwood scent? I'm thinking about picking up some AOS sandalwood shave cream. I already have a bottle of the Fine sandalwood aftershave and I'd forgo the AOS sandalwood aftershave lotion if the two scents were very similar. Thanks!

Have you used a per-shave oil with the R41, Kevy? I do it helps me a lot not to get nicks and cuts and I get a better shave for it.

Hey Kevy. I found the Fine Sandalwood to be a nice smell, but VERY strong smell and filled the whole house with scent. My wife couldn't stand how powerful it was and isn't fond of me using it again. What was your impression?Cheers - Chris Ryan

you should of tried a derby blade in that razor it would been a more comfortable shave with derby blade in it

I've actually gone through several tubs of that cream. There's a false bottom that makes you think you have more left than you do. Great cream for scent and performance, but a bit of a let down in terms of packaging.

How would you compare the Muhle R41 to the Futur? Is it like a Futur set on 4?

I bought an r41 and have to say I don't think it's for me... don't think I need all that aggression. Actually think I get a much better and smoother shave with the Merkur slant 37c.
