Hey guys! I know it's been a while since I uploaded. Basically art school happened and I didn't have time to edit videos, which is sad because I did really miss uploading videos for you guys. Anyways I'm going to try and get through editing the videos I already have recorded and we'll go from there. I'm going to shoot for an upload every other week- which I know isn't a lot, but I think that's all I can manage in the free time that I have.
But seriously, thank you guys so much for sticking around! And welcome to anyone who found my channel during my hiatus! Hopefully I'll get back on track with a better schedule soon.

It always annoys me when people say Cinderella is helpless or has no character. Girls a saint. If anything the new version is more helpless.

@nightwish1453
@nightwish1453 Год назад
@@mooshmooshtime7535 pretty true honestly, she basically gets saved by pure luck at the end. her independance actual creates more plotholes especially when it comes to leaving as she has friends who actually seemed willing to let her live with them but proceeds to decline and her reason is completely diminished at the end

@@nightwish1453exactly!! In this Cinderella, she actually has a hand in saving herself; in the new one, it’s cause someone heard her by chance, not because she was trying. So dumb

I think the reason lady Tremaine is so terrifying is that she’s actually somewhat realistic. She doesn’t use magic or strength to intimidate Cinderella but you can still tell she has so much power over one person.

I get why you'd be bothered by the sewing line, but if I may: "Leave the sewing to the women" wasn't said by some male character putting the female characters "in their place". Jacque (the skinny male mouse) was offering to do the sewing- a fairly gender-equal and bold thing for a character to do given the time period- and the female mouse who sent him resource-hunting meant, in essence, "Thanks for the offer, kiddo, but leave this to the professionals. You just get us something to work with." Worth noting is that in the opening scene, the female mice shoo the male mice out. Keep in mind that in American cartoons- particularly around this time period- speech-capable non-humans who shared screentime with human characters were basically human themselves (with some exceptions, i.e., Lady and the Tramp, and Bambi), including in the way of birds and bees, so the female mice help Cinderella with showering and working with her clothes already. They know her measurements. She's probably shown them how to sew and they've honed it as they help her in private business. I understand there's kind of a metal detector we have for these older films for regressive portrayals, and that's fair to have, but this is one case where I for one think we can rest easy.

This was the golden age of Disney creativity and artistry. When you remember that each and every frame was hand drawn and inked, both the characters and backgrounds, it's simply mind blowing, the level of work that went into these. These early Disney films are literally works of art set into motion. It's an art form we'll probably never see again. In 2018 Cinderella was given the honor of being selected for preservation and entry into the National Film registry at the Library of Congress.

i know this is an old video, but it hurts to see that dress that cinderella's only friends made for her, using the base of her mother's dress, ripped to shreds with that deep red background. i can't watch this movie when i'm having an emotional week or i'll cry. the entire movie is so romantic and gentle and sweet, tinged with some true fear and very tense moments. i do truly think this movie deserves the word "masterpiece." the reason they didn't use silver/white in marketing is because disney didn't want to market white dresses to little girls- it would give the image of running about in a wedding dress. i think it's a shame, because her silvery white dress is stunning, and that transformation animation was walt disney's favorite piece of animation.

Well, Alice In Wonderland came out the year after Cinderella, so give it a go next. The tone might take you by surprise, but it's basically Disney artists, a set of character designs, and past that, letting their paints do what they want. Lady Tremaine I'd played by Eleanor Audley. She also played Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty, and you can definitely see the similarities. Lady Tremaine is quieter and on a smaller scale, but there are moments where you can see the makings of the villainess nine years later.

I really love the original aspects of this: why the ball is thrown, Cinderella's mother's dress, losing her slipper more than once, breaking the glass slipper, and so on. Disney had always made fairy tales their own with their creativity. And her silver dress is underrated--but changed to avoid it seeming like Disney was marketing a wedding dress to girls.

Lady Tremaine is voiced by Elanor Audley who later voiced Malificent in Sleeping Beauty. Also the narrator in the start is Betty Lou who voiced Cruella De Vil and Miss Birdwell in 101 Dalmatians, such a contrast between those voices.

They made Lady Tremaine look like the actress who voiced the character. I recognized her right away. I'm watching Green Acres from the 60s and Elanor Audrey plays the mother of Oliver (lawyer who became a farmer). She's good in that comedy.

You like the transition the voice actress gives from soft spoken to loud and commanding? And how intimidating the character comes across? Eleanor Audley baby! She also did Maleficent (and Madame Leota in Haunted Mansion of Disneyland), but Lady Tremaine truly is designed on the actress looks.

“Look at him! Big stretch!” Glad I’m not the only one who loves Lucifer basically on principle. I’ve encountered some mean cats in my time and, while Lucifer is indeed a very mean cat, I simply can’t help loving him. It’s a cat person thing. He’s a really smart cat, too, apparently I’m better at seeing the good in a mean cat than Cinderella is. Fun Fact about Lucifer: Apparently his design was based on his animator (Ward Kimball)’s own cat. That wasn’t Ward’s idea, though. It was Walt’s.

The voice actress for the step mother Elenor Audley also voices Maleficent in sleeping beauty and Madam Leona in the haunted Mansion ride at Disney world Also each Disney park Castle doesn't always pertain to Cinderella the Disney park in Florida is called Cinderella Castle however the ones in California and Paris are Sleeping Beauty Castles

Interesting bit of trivia. The voice of the narrator is Betty Lou Gerson (RIP), who would later go on to voice Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians.

It's not an animated film, but Ever After (1998) with Drew Berrymore is one of the best Cinderella adaptations. Give it a watch if you get the chance, and a reaction would be great, but I know it doesn't fit your format. Enjoy either way!

Mary Blair was the (main?) concept artist, for this film, Alice in Wonderland, and few others. Her work for this is unbelievably stunning and they actually kept a lot of the dreamy, organic elements.

Those riders that were sent after Cinderella was just sent to stop her and bring her back to the castle but if she was stopped and brought back, how would she explain once the spell is broken and she stands there in her tattered dress. At the least it would feel awkward and embarrassing, not to mention that Lady Tremaine and the Step Sisters would have found out (and probaby attempt to send her back home), though the prince might not have cared if she realized that Cinderella was the same girl (in fact, there was a scene after the trying of the glass slipper where Cinderella were brought to the Prince and were a bit surprised who she really was but ultimatley didn't care about it and wanted to marry her anyway, but since it wasn't necessary and dragged the ending abit, it was obviously cut) but that's not how the fairy tale went so that's why it happened. There wouldn't be exciting or dramatic that way, not to mention the film would be a lot shorter without the last third. The riders were just shown in black to make them seen more frightening to increase the tension cuz Cinderella had to get home before the spell was broken.

Around the same time this film came out the Mickey Mouse comic strip, which as you know featured Mickey going crazy serialized adventures, ran story line in which Mickey comes home to find two people from a country called Mousepotamia, which is currently under rule by an evil dictator called "The Iron Mask", and Mickey is the 287'th person in line for the thorn making him more so worthy to rule, when asked what happened to the other 287 people in line he's told that The Iron Mask gave them "a little bad luck." And so Mickey is dragged into the conflict against his will and soon finds himself disguised as a jester so he can listen in on Iron Mask's plans and prevent them later. The reason I bring this up is that the two people who come to Mickey's house and tell him all this and act as sort of sidekicks for him on this adventure are Gus and Jaq, the two mice from this movie, and before you ask, yes, they are the same size of Mickey.

4:25 Honestly if I were in her shoes I should've got smart and marched out of the room, I don't do attitude. As a side note, while she isn't my favorite I never understood the notion that Cinderella was a damsel in distress, the only time she needs help is in the climax, but the motive highlights that her strength is how much she has to deal with at once. I don't think many people would put up with what she does, me I would just have an attitude, especially with Lady Tremaine, tell them off and leave. And even so, Cinderella does make an effort to free herself, she comes up with the idea to have her bird friends to get the dog to chase off Lucifer because he trapped the mice who has the key. In the live action version all she does is prance around the room humming until the situation is revolved for her, I agree the story of this movie has problems that were all fixed in Cinderella 3 (what I consider to be the definitive version of the Cinderella story) but Cinderella was when Princesses started to have personalities and weren't just definied by one thing. Or in some cases like Aurora, none at all. Unless you count sleeping as a personality.

The Cinderella movies after this, in my opinion, isn't that bad but they get a bad reputation a lot. Silhouettes were implemented a lot. The Cinderella castle looks more modern than what the castles of the time actually looked like🏰. And Cinderella's shoe size was wrong👠. If the shoes actually fit her, then the shoes would not have fallen off. And the voice actress for Lady Tremaine was the same voice actress for Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty🎶🤩!!! The movie Ever After also made the dress slivery white, unlike many of the other Cinderella adaptations that made the dress blue🔵. The ballroom dance scene didn't make too much sense in terms of lighting. There were not spotlights back in those days🤭!!! At least there weren't spotlights in the scale that they animated it. And Disney movies love to animate sparkles✨!!! The bed that the king and the blue suited dude we're bouncing on must have had some super springs😮!!! Lady Tremaine is one of the best but underrated villains. She was a more real villain than one who used magic and had a whole group of minions. She's the kinda villain that I'm sure Mother Gothel from Tangled was inspired by. Really enjoyed all of your reactions. As someone who wasn't too interested in these movies once I got older, you've made them a lot more interesting just from your educational commentary😁👍!!!

You might want to have a look at "The Adventures of Prince Achmed" (1926), a beautiful and unique piece of early film animation. You can find clips online, just be aware that various scores have been used to accompany the amazing visuals. And of course you probably know my own favorite Disney, "Lilo and Stitch", with its absolutely gorgeous watercolors.

My gf and I had a funny and long going argument about the original color of Cinderella’s ball gown (and hair color). It all started when we were playing Kingdom Hearts. I argued that in the original film it’s more silver like in the original animation cels but she was in the camp that it was always blue like how Disney markets the character currently (dolls, costumes, etc.). Anyone else have this weird argument?

We need to realize that she was in a abusive and manipulative relationship with her stepmother and sisters. If you think about it being able to endure all that takes strength. Name me people who is still kind and compassionate despite everything they've been through. I bet people nowadays are more revengeful. I myself can't be as strong as Cinderella if I was in her place lol. It's also a fairy tale dates maybe in the 14th century and remember what can women even do on those years? NOTHING so I think it's best to know the history and origin of the story before judging it.
