Art Supplies Haul! Christmas 2022 

A no buy challenge sounds like a good goal for 2023. I'd love to see videos of what you're doing with all the supplies you have. More art making please! Wishing you and yours a very happy New Year 🎉

Nicks owl gift is going to give you a lot of pleasure in the long term, and none of the guilt! It is perfect for your new cabinet! I am still looking for one similar, to me that was your most interesting ‘find’ of the year…. A low buy, plenty make year seems likely for you! I always love your making, you are very free spirited with it, and unstuffy, I just love that. After you have both had your well deserved break I look forward to seeing you making loads with all your recent goodies. I watch more for your inventiveness than for the goodies, but also love your enthusiasm for just having for the joy of arty perfection! Hi Becky, what an awesome art haul you showed us! I too have the green and blue antiquarian books. Yes, please show us the purple book. I would like to buy it, but I am putting myself on a low buy until I catch up on some credit card debt. As always, thank you for sharing your amazing haul!

Hi Becky, I have a set of the Pebeo Prisme Fantasy paints and I love them but you don’t use them like other types of paint. They need to be stirred really well and then poured onto a flat surface such as a small framed canvas (Pebeo sells those too) or a pendant. I think you probably made the mistake of working them too much with a brush because once poured they don’t like to be agitated or they will lose the honeycomb effect. Remember to have your surface completely flat, use a spirit level to make sure. Also remember to open a window as the fumes can be quite overwhelming. The effect is wonderful and worth the effort involved to make interesting art.

These Faber Castell pencils look stunning in their wooden box. I could smell the pencils too when you opened the box, haha. For the Derwent sets I would love to see a long video with all sets (I love long videos). I really enjoyed this haul. Happy New Year to you and your family!

Wow, what an incredible haul Becky! So many beautiful, artful items. I waited for special effects, with bright white light beams emitting from the Albrect Durer box when you opened it and it looks sooo gorgeous! Hi becky, the pebeo paints are fantastic I've used them for years but you need to put them on really thick, stir well then use a stick to drop onto where you want them, they are no good with a brush but they are gorgeous like metal when dry or mother of pearl. I did my sketchbook cover with them. Happy new year

I love watching your art hauls. You always have the most interesting things. That starry sky Lego set is just too adorable! I didn't know they had that. Or the flowers. I LOVE the owl statue. I'm an owl person too. And the watercolor pencils set is gorgeous! I got the set of six to try them, but haven't yet. Can't wait to see some videos with these supplies. I'd love to see a demo of that gorgeous Aqua Bronze powder... I too have seen work done with it and the finish it leaves always blows my mind. You got a bunch of nice things. I've just been getting into planners so I guess I'll need a new one for next year. I love the owl on books statue at the beginner, very Harry Potter like.

You will love the Albrecht Druher pencils. I adore them. I have had my small open stock set for over 30 years but last Xmas treated myself to the full set (not in wood box though) plus the lumys & lightfast through cult pens in the UK even though I live in Perth Western Australia and I didn't buy myself anything this year because I felt positively gluttonous from the previous years Xmas and now I am crashing my stash, it's saved me a fortune. Yeah for us, I also got a set of albrecht durer pencils for Christmas but a tin not the wooden box. That box is awesome! Amazing pencils they dissolve beautifully. Awesome free Albrecht Durer watercolor pencils woohoo! I’m very interested in the Canson 100% watercolor sketchbook. I like the idea of a spiral bound sketchbook then it will lay flat. It will be fun to watch your Van Gogh Lego being assembled. Have a rest Becky and Happy New Year!

I can remember mum doing paint pouring with us kids in the 1980s. The artwork was up at our place for about 15 years. Used up a bunch of old paints.

Oh gosh those Sennelier iridescent colours look amazing; I have the schmincke limited edition metallics in half pans and I've barely touched them because I am so scared of not being able to find good replacements 😆I might have to check those out when they arrive in the UK and check that they use ethically sourced mica. The Traveller's Company/Midori stuff is always amazing - I have a standard Traveller's Notebook and am waiting to see if I can get my hands on their limited edition Diner set. I just recently bought a couple of stamp sets which are monthly/weekly sets, meaning I can create a combo insert with different sections instead of having separate inserts per item (e.g. I can have a general note insert that includes a few week/month planner pages rather than having them all separate). I know there's other people and companies that make TN like planners but I like my genuine one and hope to use it more in 2023 💖

Dang what a haul! Those Sennelier iridescents - I really don’t use metallics much, but those are so pretty! And the Albrecht Durer score. That was a good deal. I have the full set, but I’m glad they are not in a beautiful wooden box like that, I don’t think I could ever break up the gorgeousness of it.

Great haul!!! I would have a tough time touching those FC watercolor pencils!!! The full box is a work of art, in its own right! I would be tempted to buy 120 FC watercolors in a tin, to preserve the box set.

Your art supply hauls are so much fun to watch, but I feel you on low buy for 2023. I went a little wild in 2022. Those pencils and that wooden case are drool-worthy, though.

My hubby got me the full set of Polychromos for Christmas. I feel so lucky and happy. He also got me my dream easel too (Artristic tripod rotating easel). That purple book you have is beautiful. I've spent too much on supplies this year too. But I think other than maybe some top ups for oil paints, I don't need a thing. I've been focusing on building my connection and honestly I'm very lucky now with what I have.

Becky, wow so many art supplies! I love those iridescent Sennelier they have been out since summer. I first saw them in Artemiranda an online shop in Spain..they are more 12 more tubes but for me are still a little expensive. I am surprise you don't have the Paul Ruben set of iridescent they are very good too. All lovely supplies...thanks for sharing. Happy New Year!

i got the 36 tin of Albrecht Dürer pencils with my flybuys last year, was happy to find some art supplies on the site, but it is limited. i also got an officeworks gift card with flybuys and i got some new art supplies that way. was glad there's finally something i want to use my points on :)

The prisme Fantasy paints would be perfect for a painting of a honeycomb

Oh, please don't use Brasso on anything! It wears away the surface really fast! The real joy of brass objects is the patina that it develops over time. Just use a soft cloth or warm soapy water to rub off fingerprints. I'd love to see a video on all four Derwent paint pans, rather than four separate videos, and the oil pastel comparison would be really good!!! Those Sennelier iridescent paints .... Wow!!! Albrecht Durer ... a full set in its wooden box ... I have tears in my eyes - of envy, but also of very real joy for you, because you are going to love using them (they are really good when dry, as well as wet)!!!! What a massive 'haul'. I'm looking forward to seeing you use them. A low-buy 2023 does seem a good idea, but I wonder how it'll work out Meanwhile, please, Becky, Nick and the cats, please take as long as you need to get back where you need to be, mentally, creatively and physically, before getting back into work. Just taking time to use those planners to work out what you want to do, RU-vid-wise in 2023, and programming in family and 'me' time, is going to be demanding, and probably should be a priority *before* you get back into videos, so that you don't end up as exhausted as you are now. Y'know, we'll still be here when you get back. A gentle hug for you, and cuddles for the cats, and big thanks to Nick for his care and support of you this year. 😊

I got myself the 120 set of polychromos and a month ago I got a set of pencil crayons just like you showed at the start. Mine are a different brand but came in 4 color sets of 18 just like yours, and I love them.

Do a RU-vid search on the pebeo prism. You pour them after stirring them very good into pendants or a cradle of wood and they make beautiful shapes after drying that takes along time

As far as I know Schmincke Aqua Bronze already contain binder. You just need to use water.

Becky, St Cuthbert's Mill (who make Saunders Waterford paper) isn't part of Canson - and I hope that it never is! Canson has already bought Arches (which is probably what you were thinking of) but even so, Arches is still made in the traditional way in in the same village where it has been for centuries. St Cuthbert's Mill is now part of the FILA Group (since 2016, as is Daler Rowney (also joined in 2016), but is still run in the same way from the same place in Somerset, UK. I love your wol (AA Milne spelling of Owl). He is absolutely beautiful!!!!! Now back to the video...

I love your art haul! Amazon failed me this year so I had to order from Blick and I'm getting my big stuff this next week. I also love the new Lego sets! I got a whole box full of Lego boxes for Xmas from sets my mum got me over the last year. She also surprised me with the Succulents set because I love succulents, but have a cat that's a plant murderer. So even she agreed that the flower sets are a perfect compromise xD And my cat can't kill them! lol. What I'm waiting for from Blick here in the states is the Derwent Intense set of 72 pencils, the Chromaflow 72 and a few spares for my Derwent watercolor pencils. I have the fine tec metallic watercolors, Van Gogh watercolors too. Glitter paint quality has really improved in the last few years! I hope you have loads of fun arting over the next year :) I love how you saved the big cahoone gift for the end. I love Faber Castell products! I have the 120 set of their Polychromos and they've served me so well alongside my Prismacolors and Holbein pencils.

***Important news!!! Schmincke has come out with a NEW super granulating watercolor set called 'Urban', and Schmincke also made a whole new red color made with a new pigment code. If anyone has any more info, please let us pigment nerds know! Also, Becky, wonderful video. Thanks for sharing...much love 💜

Please do a swatch and peacock painting from the Sennelier irridescent colors. These are new and I would love to see the colors and how they rewet from pans

I got a kit of the iridescent sennelier watercolours too and I had the same problem with that green, it dried quite sticky.
