Art Toolkit Folio Palette Setup and Swatching 

I’ve gone back and forth about buying this palette…I love them, but I normally paint at home, so it doesn’t make sense, but it is so tempting!

When you do eventually get to Iceland, that Tundra Blue will do you well around the glaciers.

I was so tempted to get one of these, but it's only a tiny bit smaller than my FCLUB palette - not enough to prioritize it right now, for sure. It's great to see a good overview and size comparison though! I'm sorry about your trip. I'm sure you'll get to go someday soon, once things calm down a bit.

I’m sorry you had to cancel your trip. Last spring I was hoping to go to Scotland in the fall, but maybe next June, sigh…. I’m thinking to fill my Folio set with Jane Blundell’s Ultimate 15 in original size pans and then the remaining space with 30 mini pans. You don’t need much mixing space when you have a lot of colors. My most used set has been the original business card size with 28 mini pans. I work in a small sketchbook so have never run out of paint on a trip. I like that the Folio set is the same dimensions as a 3.5x5.5” Stillman & Birn softcover sketchbook or a small Moleskine Watercolor Album.

Thanks for this comparison. I liked the idea of using the standard pallette box as a mixing tray. Hadn't heard of that.

What a lovely palette and such a great size for travelling. Very sorry to hear about having to cancel your trip to Iceland. Let's hope next year turns out to be more relaxed.

Thanks for sharing your new Art Toolkit folio palette, I really love their products and use my Pocket Palette all the time! FYI, Grumbacher is an American Brand, based in New York since the early 20th century (I have vintage Grumbacher art supplies from when my mom was a kid and some from when I was a kid, too), but it's been acquired by ChartPak, another old American company based in Massachusetts. Blick's artist watercolors are made by Grumbacher, mostly the same colors, but they're about the same price.

So sorry about your trip. Hope this nightmare has an end date. Thank you for sharing info on the Folio. Love that you can get bigger pans for it. On Prime Day, I got the FClub thin palette. Unfortunately, their pans are not very interchangeable with Expeditionary Arts pans. I have a small collection of the EA pans and would have preferred their size. I have the Pocket palette. LOVE IT. When I ordered, I misunderstood pan sizes. I got two of the larger pans you mentioned but didn't show. Using a glue gun, I divided each of them into three sections. Those six sections hold the Daniel Smith essentials set. I have used the palette that way for over a year and haven't had any trouble with the paints intermingling from the bottom. The numbers in Iceland are much better than they are in the US, if that is any encouragement. And they are probably handling better. Nice palette!

Any issues with rusting of the pans? I know there were some changes to make them rust resistant but I wasn't sure how the weather and/or paint selection might impact whether or not the new pans have issues with rust. Thanks for the fun video!

Do the mixing areas stain when you wipe it clean?

have you found it to crack after setting the paints up?
