shinaz000 I know I am 4 years late but if anyone wants to learn more about Qadr from Hamza Yousaf, they should listen to the audio "Aqeeda of the Muslims" by Hamza Yousaf which is available on muslimcentral.com, he discusses it in Part 6 of the series I think. Jazak'Allah.

Muslims believes Prophetic teachings supercedes man made ideas. It is also true to say non-muslims religious believers suppose to believe the same rule.

Non Muslims are to be tried by their law. In Madina, a jew was tried by jewish law for example

With regards to the adopted children, actually the parents can gift 1/3 of the inheritance to them, then the rest must be distributed according the law.

@Ocean Flyer, anyone can give one third of their inheritance to anyone at all. Sheikh Hamza just clarified that you can't give them your surname, they must retain the surname of their biological father. Apart from that, of course you can take care of them, keep them in our house, give them your inheritance, anything actually.

@18:54 One of the things that Shariah came to do was preserve lineage : that people should know where they come from. And this is why women, it is prohibited for them to change their names in Islam. A woman does not take the name of her husband because it changes lineage. @32:09 Rumi tells the story of the scorpion and the frog. They are at the side of the river. And the scorpion asks the frog, give me a ride across the river so i don't have to walk around. The frog says i'm not stupid, if i give you a ride, you'll sting me. And the scorpion says, you know that's ridiculous, think about this, if i sting you we'll both sink and drown. so the frog says that makes sense. Takes him across. Halfway across the scorpion stings the frog. The frog says, why did you do that, he says that's my nature. @42:44 In Arabic, Dunya means the lowest. In other words, this is the lowest, we're at the lowest level, what is above us is hierarchy. The highest level is the presence of God...One of the meanings of the root word of Dunya is grapes, like the famous fox in Aesop's Fables. The grapes are just out of reach... @52:40 In the Islamic Culture, traditionally, at about 60, there's open mixing, in many many cultures, as the woman enters into that period of life.

If the second question is who is your prophet what would the people before the time of prophet Muhammad pbuh say? Of course it would be the prophet that was around at their time but then I wonder why this question is asked then. Allah knows best

Good lecture. But, Qadar is one of the very important and controversial concepts. Therefore it needs a more insightful lecture than this one. That is not because H. Yusuf failed to explain it properly, but there are too many digressions asked by the students. Although these digressions are quite useful as well, but they somewhat dominated the lecture and left less time for the original topic. Qadar must be elaborated more concisely. Particularly I love to hear more of HY's opinions on Qadar.

لعل وعسى هذا دين الله القويم Holy Quran 2:62 ------------------ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَالَّذِينَ هَادُوا وَالنَّصَارَىٰ وَالصَّابِئِينَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews or Christians or Sabeans [before Prophet Muhammad] - those [among them] who believed in Allah and the Last Day and did righteousness - will have their reward with their Lord, and no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve. هذا دين المذاهب Holy Quran 6:159 ------------------ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَرَّقُوا دِينَهُمْ وَكَانُوا شِيَعًا لَّسْتَ مِنْهُمْ فِي شَيْءٍ ۚ إِنَّمَا أَمْرُهُمْ إِلَى اللَّهِ ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ Indeed, those who have divided their religion and become sects - you, [O Muhammad], are not [associated] with them in anything. Their affair is only [left] to Allah; then He will inform them about what they used to do. Holy Quran 30:32 ------------------ مِنَ الَّذِينَ فَرَّقُوا دِينَهُمْ وَكَانُوا شِيَعًا ۖ كُلُّ حِزْبٍ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ [Or] of those who have divided their religion and become sects, every faction rejoicing in what it has.

It's not prohibited for a woman to change her name. I'm confused as to why this was said. Once married, a woman can choose to take her husbands surname. I've never heard anything against this before.

@@saieidashik3492 I know this, but this isn't what Sh. Hamza said in the video. He said women aren't supposed to change their surname. He didn't say a person shouldn't change their surname with the intention of denying their lineage. This is a non-gender specific prohibition, it's not something solely directed at women.

@@saieidashik3492 (1) Women's birth surnames are always given by their father. So this point is irrelevant. (2) Women *are* allowed to change their surnames. (3) women *and* men are not allowed to deny their lineage (i.e. deny who their father is). Changing your surname has no bearing on this. So, again, women *are* allowed to change their surnames.

Teaching Islamic Law, without the Concept of an Islamic State (Khilafah) applying the Law is very confusing. Useless even..

Islamic Law (sharia) and Islamic State are two separate things. Completely independant to one another. One can exist without the other. Islamic Law is purely doctrinal while Islamic State is purely political.
