In this deck tech we discuss strategy and card choices for an artifact token deck lead by Tivit, Seller of Secrets. Decklist: www.moxfield.com/decks/93mjXq... Discord Group: / discord
Thank you!! Not only are you providing a solid list of cards, but you’re giving a detail explanation of how the card works, and why it fits in the deck appropriately. Very thorough and well thought out!
There's a boardwipe that I currently added to my Tivit deck is Stick Together, Tivit is a Rogue after all, and you run recurrssion pieces like Archaeomancer that are wizards, so you can save them both.
@@casual_commander I’ve already got your hinata deck in paper and love it. Currently building my version of your krark thrasios deck. Starting to feel like a casual commander groupie lol
This is amazing! I immediately sleeved this up with some alterations. I think a card that needs to be put in asap is Mechanized Production. We win if it sticks around to our upkeep with all the tokens we make.
Glad to hear you liked it, let me know how it goes :) I was considering this, but I'm always wary of playing cards that cause my opponents to quickly gang up on me. Though honestly, as far as win-cons go i think its a very strong one in the deck.
Piloted this deck for the first time tonight with a few personal tweaks to the deck and won the first two back to back with Marionette Master and Cyberdrive. Super fun deck!
Keep your eyes out for when i ask which channel decks you would like to see me play next, so you can put your vote in for Jinnie :) Thanks a lot Avan :)
I have like 80% of the cards you talked about so I'm honestly interested in trying this deck and the kitten you were so hyped over for this deck I'm excited to say I own a copy so I'll finally have a deck that will abuse this adorable kitty
@@casual_commander unfortunately I do not have the capability to buy things like urza and whatnot but I'm improvising for things like that but usually it comes out well....I'm good at it I should be trying it out on Tuesday can't wait to try it
@@Lokigrim13 I don't either, but my playgroup and I are very proxy friendly, only buying cards as budget allows and if you REALLY end up loving the deck. But I can understand if you and/or your playgroup prefer only using real cards :)
@@casual_commander I finally got a good showing of this deck with a proxied urza and I won pretty fast with cyber drive awakener with the amount of treasures and clues I beat everyone down with it loving the deck it's so fun
JC, I built a modified version of this in paper as a blink deck and good lord its powerful. Opponents often fall straight into the trap of giving me clues over mana, when unbeknownst to them thats how I end the game. An absolute beast in this deck has been the include of tamiyo’s journal. A late game slap down to instantly tutor up your wincon by sacking 3 of my billion clues. I also found that when established, dropping Tezzeret Betrayer of Flesh has been golden. The static of drawing a card for absolute free on everyone elses turn is just too much value. Wow, what a deck. Would still love to see your gameplay when it does become available if at all🙏🏼
That's the beauty of Tivit, whatever you get, treasures or clues, it all ends up being great regardless :) I would definitely run Tamiyo's Journal if i didnt have the personal restriction of running no tutors in my casual decks. But Tezzeret Betrayer of Flesh actually made it into the list a little while back after testing and your right, it quickly becomes a very good card. Until i introduce paper games to the channel (and it will probably be a while yet), we unfortunately won't be able to get Tivit gameplay videos as it looks like they are not putting him on Magic Online :(
Surprised you didn't mention Time Sieve since he could go infinite once you cast that since you should be able to make 5 artifacts no matter what your opponents choose. Then sac them for an extra turn.
Loved the vid, great stuff in here and I can’t wait to put the deck together myself! I might be misunderstanding the part where you mentioned copying displacer kitten so that you can blink your commander twice with each noncreature spell, but I don’t think it works how you suggested. If both the kitten target Tivit when you cast a spell, the second kittens ability will fizzle after Tivit is blinked for the first time, since when Tivit reenters the battlefield he is not the same target. Sorry if I’m misunderstanding!
Its so good that its a little too good lol. I decided to keep it out because i generally don't play one-card win-cons in my casual decks, but if you don't play with such personal restrictions, go nuts lol!!!
Unfortunately Z, until I start playing paper games on the channel, we won't be able to see Tivit, because he isn't actually available on Magic Online (because I really would love to test MTGO with all those triggers lol). I will always put gameplay vids of a deck tech I just did straight after it is released, so if you don't see me post them, it'll be because the commander isn't available. Just have to keep your fingers crossed we can do some paper games on the channel one day :)
Tbh, i didn't feel like i needed ethereal investigator, as it didn't do enough when Tivit is out and it does nothing when he's not (compared to other token enhancers). Ephemerate is probably the only blink spell i would consider for the deck due to its raw power. Otherwise, i prefer permanent sources of blink due to their repeatability, seeing as we don't intend the game to end quickly.
@@casual_commander that’s fair, though you do have many ways to blink the investigator if tivit’s not out like teleportation circle, soulhearder, deadeye. And it can provide you an army of flyers for each clue you crack on any player’s turn. Ideally, you’d want to save them for cyberdrive or rise and shine (Katsumasa’s also not a bad way to beef up artifacts), but it’s a good way to generate bodies and pressure life totals while stalling the game out and digging for answers.
@@bend5963 apologies, i actually realised i thought you were talking about Erdwal Illuminator instead lol. For four mana, i still don't feel it does enough, especially because it scales down the less opponents we have and you'd have to crack two clues during each opponents turn to get the spirit.
@@casual_commander my bad I didn’t realize the two clues part; yeah you’re right about that. Aside from that I think there are other good cards to consider like Kappa Cannoneer and some other cards with improvise or affinity for artifacts
Hey! Tivit seems really cool! I see the wincons seem to be Cyberdrive Awakener and Rise and Shine, but are there any others? I mean ,commander damage is possible, but, without those 2 (or 3), what else could the deck do? Would love to build this, but I'm not sure how consistent it would be.
We also have marionette master as a third "hard" win-con, but we can also win with multiple tivit beats (e.g. clone effects like sakashima, spark double etc.) and flickering urza multiple times for an army of construct beats. Because the deck can generate so many resources, we don't typically have a problem drawing to our win-cons, but until we do, we control the board with our significant interactive package. It might be a good idea to playtest some turn 1-6's on Moxfield where the decklist is available, to get an idea how it plays out :)
@@casual_commander Nice, will do! I think it seems fun! So, if I'm understanding right, the only way to get those treasures/clues is from Tivit--so, if he is removed, say, a few times--are we screwed?
@@RequiesAeternaGaming if they manage to remove Tivit a few times, it will make life harder. The thing is though, they'll have a hard time doing it because: 1. Ward 3- this makes single target removal a much more expensive proposition, especially because... 2. Interaction package- we can protect Tivit quite well with the cards we run. 3. Treasures- the first time we cast Tivit, we can get two treasures from the vote, paying for the commander tax. So the first time he gets removed isn't a problem. Failing that... 4. Ramp package- we run a lot of ramp, so recasting Tivit a few times really shouldn't be too bad.
I considered this Tezz for the deck, but it just missed the mark for me personally, as i didn't feel it did enough for the cost. But its definitely a strong consideration for sure and i wouldn't fault anyone for including it.
@@casual_commander I think it may be worth and include. The mass drain as an up-tick ability can be a brutal game winner and the static of affinity is crazy good for all your other artifacts. But great deck tech. I hope we will eventually get a game play video
@@IamJoshEast i liked the mass drain effect and returning an artifact can be useful, especially for cards like academy manufactor. Just keep in mind affinity is only for your creatures and PWs, not artifacts. If it was, there would be no argument from me that its a hard include lol. As the deck gets played more, if i get feedback it needs more win-cons this will be the first on my list. I hope so too. That way people who intend to build the deck see how it plays out :)
@@casual_commander my mate has this in the 99 of his Kamiz deck and as soon as it comes out its straight value. He almost always gets 2 treasures and 3 clues, and if it sits around it becomes an instant evasive threat that accrues value. One card that came straight to mind watching your deck tech that I’d throw in is a Teferi’s Ageless Insight. A small investment to draw two cards everytime you crack a clue…value.
