5:14 I believe there was a hoplite at the Battle of Marathon (at least I think it was Marathon tho I might be wrong) who painted on a bumble bee, not a large massive one, but a life size bumble bee painting on his shield. When his mates asked him why, he simply replied: "I'll be so close to the enemy, it'll look like a lion."
@@PixelatedApollo1 Oh you might be right actually about it being a fly and not a bee, I think I got it mixed up when I heard you talking about the bee on the shield which reminded me of that story
I appreciate you taking the time to cover my replay Apollo. Great coverage and commentary as usual. I'm glad you enjoyed the battle as well, you have an awesome and friendly community!
Hey Trent when you were talking in 19:23 about those archers. I just wanna say that archers in ancient world 90% of their shots went up in the air and then down to the target. So, the only change in firing over building would propably be that they wont know if they hit or not lol.
Never change Apollo, the way you are is unique and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. Your commentaries golden and no one can match that, no matter how silly you think you may sound sometimes its what makes you unique and its you being you and a lot of people I feel hold back from that. I've Watched your channel for years and you've never failed to make me smile with some of your commentary and you're just a great guy in general. Hope you're well Apollo:)
Hey man I've seriously watched all of your videos, and I just wanted to say you're by far my favorite creator. You don't take yourself too seriously, and you seem like a great dude. Keep it up man. I really love watching all your stuff. Thanks for posting brother.
Nice Apollo really an interesting match. I noticed you've been sharing some of Joe's plays a lot these days and it's really so kind of you really appreciate your support. I'm subscribed to him as well, I love when he coincidentally clicks on a unit and the stats says 69 then you know what he's gonna say next "gigidy" lol. Anyways God bless 🙏 and all the best
Apolo you are my anti-depression drug, you are my teacher, you are my war god and you are one of my favorite you tuber.....thank you for this glorious battles
Rome Total War Remaster was not a full blown blunder to my personally. Not exactly the remaster I wanted with UI and Graphical choices, but a good game and brought me a lot of joy playing with the new look. Love your channel PA!
Apollo some of your suggestions for games are so amazing it makes me sad because they will probably never do it. The idea you said of customizing troops armor and weapons WOULD BE AMAZING ;,(
I would like to see naval units, with variants such as warships for ship to ship combat, carriers to drop off land forces, and artillery ships to bombard cities and defending troops. Seeing the attackers launch a beachhead into a city or the defenders blockading the entrance to a harbor and going toe to toe with attacking warships would be intense.
I always hear in your videos about club levi or something. i wonder what's that club and how one gets accepted into the club. I could not found anything on google.
I love the fact that you dont pretend to be some ESPN guy. Its ok to not know the name of every ancient faction. Some of that shit doesn't make sense at all lol. Keep doing it Apollo im not even a nerd and I absolutely love your channel.
Hey Apollo i used to play this game on xbox360 it was a History channel game about the 100years war and in that game it was kinda like total war where you have sections of infantry, archers, cab, etc. but you can customize your units like you were saying you’d like in total war. You can change their colors, shields, swords, armor, pretty much everything you said. Maybe you’d like to check it out. Just throwing it out there for you!!
Yes! I agree about the short battles, its why I just dont ever really watch TWW anymore. I did for a bit, but once watched a Rome 2 battle it was night & day for many reasons. But it really shows the crap these days with how the system pushes these thing having to do with harmfully short attention spans with quick appetite for stimulus for the endorphins & all that carp... among other things. I can go for days on that problem that is very over looked, but yes these good old TW game are the best
That's not the same thing. The closest tw has had to firing modes for infantry units was in shogun 2, and I believe napoleon or empire had it as well. "Fire and advance" where each rank would shoot one by one and set you up for a charge. The benefit was if it actually worked, you'd set them up for a quick break because all three ranks would fire causing a lot of death b4 the opposing line could retaliate or b4 the opposing unit could charge but the problem was it'd bug out and a lot times soldiers just wouldn't fire :/ Medieval 2 also some clear passive firing modes. Crossbows for example would fire a much more deadly bolt If they were looking straight on, but if they were lobbing bolts over a wall/incline....well, they did near no damage. The range was also increased for units if they were on a hill. So the unit higher up typically always had longer range and would fire first making terrain actually matter for ranged units. Modern tw, just has "abilities" click a button and you get "Stat bonuses " there's no passive abilities like longer range/harder hitting ammo in medieval 2 and no actual change in how the unit is firing like "fire and advanve" from shogun 2. All it is now is button pushing. Very lame imo.
i think battles should more regularly consist of one faction vs one faction. like 4 Roman armies vs 4 Carthaginian armies for example. would give it a cool story type feel.
Yes I agree tae the great by the main picture to the video pops up with a. Spartan I suppose with a arrow right between his eyes glorious site tho sad to
WHAT MAP IS THIS??? I have been playing Rome II since it came out and I have NEVER seen this map. Edit: The map is Diospolis in Aethiopia province. Man I never knew this was such an awesome map, kind of similar to Seleucia/Babylon, Ancyra, and other cities with a river running through them. We need a map update for Rome II among many other things. I get tired of fighting cloned maps, I want each individual settlement to have it's own unique map and sets of challenges and advantages.
