I loved this! I'm currently waiting for my Easy Colour dyes to come and I was becoming nervous about how they will perform. All my worries are at ease after watching this. That purple was to DIE for.
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 6 лет назад
Yes. The purple is to die for. That is the Amethyst which is not FDA approved and batch certified to use in products you sell in the USA. Any other country can use them no problem. Ugh. Available now batch certified and FDA approved is Red28 and that is a bright pink and then the new purple which was made with the red28. Still very pretty. This is an old video, but I still use the amethyst for personal use which is completely fine.

I love your video!! So helpful, especially when you show how the different embeds had different results. I wonder why the red didn’t work well whereas the amethyst was amazing.
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 5 лет назад
Thank you. Well, I haven’t watched the video in a long while, but if I’m not mistaken, the red had slsa in it so it didn’t react as fast as the others. This is why I do all of my embeds basic fizzers, this way it’s different than my main bath Bomb mix. When the water reaches the embeds it will fast fizz forcing the color to shoot out of the bomb and create bath art!

I don't do Facebook so it's to bad for me on asking to join a group. However, I'm trying to understand the concept of asking to join a group for purchasing powdered colorants...Extremely interesting. Oh, I loved your video... the colors are indeed gorgeous!!
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 7 лет назад
Well, that video is a bit older. At one point, that was the only way to get them as Maria is in the U.K. But now she has them available on her website which is www.eazycolours.co.uk. She ships worldwide. The benefit of being in the group is that she has all the information there in the files regarding these colorants like msds, all the safety info and info in colors that are FDA approved for USA. The group is filled with very helpful people and it's a place for sharing ideas and your products and video demos. If you are in the USA, you may use all the colors for personal use. If you plan on selling your products with using these colorants, the only FDA approved FD&C colors that are batch certified are the red, yellow and blue that you MUST buy in the kilos to be batch certified. You can make a bunch of colors by mixing those three colors. It is well worth the money for the kilos as they will last forever. Lol. I've purchased mine and they are the best colors out there and you need very little to get the vibrancy.

Thanks so much. I am in the Eazy Colours fb group. If you'd like to join, come on over. Just know that only the Red, Yellow, and Blue are FD&C colors and are FDA approved and Batch Certified ONLY if you purchase in the Kilo amounts. You can use those three if purchased in the kilo size to put in your products to sell in the USA. All the other colors and the smaller amounts are completely legal, but not fda approved or batch certified. You can use any and all colors offered in your products for personal use. Just some info in case you join. You might want to join to look in the files for any info you need. All msds and anything else regarding these colorants is in there for you to check out to see if they are for you.

So, I am new to making bath bombs and have not tried yet. I bought mica powders as I do not want to use anything not natural and safe. I also don't want to use polysorbate 80 in them. Will this still work if I mix the micas with alcohol before mixing for the bombs not just the embed.

Can we make embeds and use them the same day or do you suggest waiting for them to dry for a day or so
@artisanloom3251

You can use them the same day as long as they are dry. Since there's no oil in it and I use alcohol as the binder, the alcohol evaporates quick and they only take a couple hours to dry.

There are only 4 lakes colorants. You can mix blue and yellow to get the green. You can go to etsy and search for the Workshop Heritage and they also have a magenta which is the pink. But...I do believe I was using Eazy Colours for most of these in the video and those are dyes.

Can you post a link for those colorants I would love to purchase it and can you use the color for bath bombs too?
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 8 лет назад
You have to join a Facebook group called Eazy Colours and More. The admin sells them. She is in the UK, but her prices are reasonable. All the info about the colorants is in the files. All you do is message her with your order. You need very little because they are concentrated. You can find her page and join the group if you'd like. I use the colorant in most of my bath bombs which are for personal use. I use lakes colorant if I sell any as they are not FDA approved for selling in the US which is absolutely absurd. They do not stain and no Poly80 is needed. I super love them. Other countries are approved but for some reason, the US hasn't gotten on the bandwagon.

What are the ez colors made of? Are they all natural?
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 4 года назад
Easy Colours are dyes and they’re super vibrant and water soluble. Micas aren’t water soluble so you’d need poly80 with mica powder and you won’t get the color you’d want in the water. Most makers including LUSh use water soluble dyes and they are available and fda approved. His is an old video, so it was way before the dyes were available fda approved in smaller amounts. I use water instead of alcohol now to get them he vibrancy they possess. Water in a fine mist spray bottle helps the bombs get rock hard as well as long as you spray and mix to stop the activation. Hope this helps. You can join EazyColours bath bombs group on Facebook if you’d like!

Why do embeds instead of just color part of the solution of bath bombs that you already made and put that in the middle? I've never heard of this way and am wondering the pros and cons
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 7 лет назад
I already color the outside of the bombs and do a couple colors throughout and put the other colorful embeds in the center. The reason for using embeds is that they are a different mix than the bomb mix and they just fizz and when it gets to the center of the bomb, the embeds fizz out and create the bath art. and slow the bomb down.

Forgive the silly question but why? I've never seen inside the bomb from the outside view and when it's in the water it's fizzing so can't see what's in the middle. I've seen just drops of colour in the middle so it changes colour in the water. I've just started making bath bombs so I'm a bit confused.
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 7 лет назад
Alanna Mendez These are embeds which are the basic fizzers that go inside the bombs and they shoot out colors and make the bath art. They are a different mix than the more complicated bomb mix.

@natalievegas
@natalievegas 7 лет назад
Thanks. Last embed batches I made I practically was making a mini bomb lol. I like the way my embeds turned out after doing them like yours from this recipe. Here's a thing I'm still wondering about though...I take my dye powder in sm bowl, add a ml or 2 of distilled water, then in a large bowl put the b soda then add my colored water mix to that. At that point, I sprayed some alcohol to the colored b soda before adding my citric thinking better now then having to spray so much more after citric is added. What's your opinion on spraying alcohol into the soda before adding citric?
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 7 лет назад
+Mermaidia Honestly, I don't do mine that way, but I understand why you do. It's like blooming. I usually don't do mine that way because I paint my bombs and so I most of the time have my mix white and then I rely on the embeds to give me color. But, if you add a few drops of water to your dyes and then add to your baking soda, that most likely will help with the concentration spots and make your mix a more smoother color. If I did do mine that way, I would definitely use alcohol. It's my preference because I don't want to activate my mix. If you want, you can bloom your dyes by adding the dye powder straight to your baking soda and add water and rub between your hands till it's all mixed in and you get the vibrant color you want. Then let it dry overnight to make sure it's totally dry. This way it won't activate your mix once added to citric. A lot of people make up a bunch of different colors and have it ready for when they need it. All up to you.
@natalievegas
@natalievegas 7 лет назад
Thanks for your advice. I understand why you use your method a bit better now. It's all about experimenting I think and finding what works best for each of us. But honestly, I love getting tips from you because I think your bombs are simply amazing. So thanks again.
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 7 лет назад
+Mermaidia Awe. Thank you! Everyone does things a bit different. I try to keep it simple. For me, blooming is a waste of time, but for others, it's the only way.

@artisanloom3251 6 лет назад
If you’re talking about embeds, you take them out of the mold immediately. Idk if you use a mini ice cube tray or a teaspoon, but whatever you use, take out immediately and let them sit overnight. I also put a fan toward them to help with drying. But they should be dry completely if you let them sit overnight.

@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 5 лет назад
I use alcohol when I make my embeds because it doesn’t stick to the teaspoon or whatever mold I’m using. If I use water, it seems to stick. But for my bath bombs I use water only. It dries really fast and gives you extra time to get multiple bombs made. You can use either water, alcohol or witch hazel to make the embeds.

I am in a Facebook group called Eazy Colours and More and the admin in charge sells them. All the info is in the files and all you do is message her with your order. She's in the UK, but reasonable in my opinion. You need very little because its concentrated. You can find her page and join the group if you'd like.

How long do they need to dry for
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 4 года назад
Usually 24 hours is what I wait, but maybe a few hours would be fine. I make sure they are rock hard. I also put a fan on them to help with drying process.

is it better to Alcohol or witch hazel
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 7 лет назад
Honestly, I love using 91% alcohol. I got over the smell long ago. I just think water and witch hazel gets too damp. I prefer alcohol for myself.

What is an embed?
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 5 лет назад
Embeds are basically basic fixers loaded with color to put in the middle of your bath Bomb so the colors shoot out making the bath art. They are 1:1 ratio of Baking Soda and Citric Acid.

What's the difference between ENBEDS and BATH BOMBS Recipe?
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 5 лет назад
Well, an embed is basically a basic fixer with just equal parts baking soda and citric acid (and colorant and binder) and my recipe for my bath Bomb has different ratio’s of baking soda and citric acid and also added ingredients like SLSA (which slows the fizz and creates foam) and butters. The point of an embed is to be a basic fizzier so when you add them to the center of your bath Bomb, they have a faster fizz and will shoot out color to create the bath art.

This is an older video before I found bioglitter. It is cosmetic glitter in this video. But I now use a .002 micro glitter that is outstanding.

Excuse my ignorance but what is the controversy with the amethyst?
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 5 лет назад
There’s no controversy except for the fact that it’s not fda approved/batch certified here in the states for commercial selling. You can buy for personal use though. This video is quite old and at that time only 3 colors were fda approved. Now there’s a lot more!

Is there an easy color in canada or US?
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 6 лет назад
+Chantal Roger Yes. This is an older video. Now there are EazyColours Distributors here in the USA that sell FDA approved batch certified dyes in smaller amounts. You can search for EazyColours on fb and join our group. Here is a distributor website www.krunchiboutique.com.

while equal amounts of baking soda and citric acid, and not 2:1 ? Thanks.
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 7 лет назад
Because you want it to be a different mixture than your bath bomb mix. Embeds are fast fizzers which cause the colors to shoot out of the bomb and give the color stream.

I would like to have seen how you use these embeds for bath bombs and how you insert them, its more a video about colour
@artisanloom3251
@artisanloom3251 7 лет назад
Basically, I place like 3 in one half of the round bomb and overfill with mix. Then I place like 5 in the other side and overfill with mix. Then take the two sides and push them together. The key to make the bombs spin is putting more in one side than the other so that one side is heavier. Hope this helps!
