This is getting close to being a great commuter bike for those of us lucky enough to have their job in a 20 mile radius. Love the removable batteries, the light weight, upside down forks, ergonomics and look of the bike. Only things I don’t like on this are the brakes being linked and not having a 75mph top speed, which I’ve found to be the Goldilocks number for a city commuter. If they manage to bring this to the level of a CRF250M which is my preferred everyday commuter than I’m in.

I had one of the original Evo 3 bikes and it was so much fun as a play thing. It was a great commuter and easily paid for itself because it's far cheaper than the yearly train ticket and a sight more reliable than any UK train service.

@@spartankittygames customer Support was pretty decent in germany, actually. I drive it every day to work and twice the rain killed it. Including the controler (energy management system) both times warranty was there for the repairs. But took a long time once to get it back. All in all not too bad of a cheap electric bike. But I might sell mine after this season. Gonna buy an electric car for the daily Business or a small older petrol one, so this bike is a bit down on the use. And if you do not use it batteries die faster.

These at least have a much better price point than the Zero's. I did the maths (?) and spend about $500 on petrol a year commuting during the 7 months I can typically ride. That would take me 20 years to recoup the price of the Zero FXS 7.2.

Seems like it'd make a good starter bike for a 16/17 year old to get a feel for riding. I'd be tempted to pick one up to start learning especially at that price. Then sell it half a year/a year later and get a proper petrol one. Only issue is I'm not sure how well they'd hold their value second hand vs a petrol bike

My review after I receive this bike and test it in 115f temperatures will tell me how well the Samsung lithium batteries work in hit temps.Generally lithium is finicky for charging in hot and cold environments, and discharge can be low in cold temps.Im curiouse to see how well the Samsung bats take a charge after they are near discharged and have been in the heat.I suppose the stuff fork he talked about was due to the dirt bike conversion option. The sound does sound bad ass for sure from this bike during acceleration. It seems very nimble in traffic.I haven't seen many reviews of the banshee upgraded dirt bike, and how well it holds up to the constant off road use, such as any loose or broken parts, how well the fork, shocks and tires hold up to dirt bike conditions.Generally any bike I've had has gotten trashed quicker when used off road, and gets much dirtier.Time will tell.

The 2022 Kawasaki klx300sm is a couple hundred more, has twice the range, over 100 miles to a tank that only costs about $6 to fill up. Has a higher top speed and makes brap noises. I do love the idea of an electric motocross bike tho, less maintenance, can ride in city limits without angry neighbors and just plug it up overnight and role. I really wish someone builds on what Alta started. Or builds one off the 2022 Yamaha yz450f, it's by far the best gas powered bike for amateur and pro riders, chassis and suspension are perfect, an electric powerplant would be dope in one.

It seems great, but the chain drive is still a weak point. Probably stretches and needs lubrication. Would be nice if they just also offered it with the off-road tires without the street. Could maybe save a few hundred dollars that way. I would still want it to be road legal. But at the speed it travels it seems like the knobby tires would be fine.

Interesting bike, thank you for the review. Although I'd expect better quality for this price and defo do not agree with the "built for price" sentiment as one could get an Aprilia RS 125 for this kind of money and that bike packs some neat technology in a polished package, although petrol. Remember this competes with the 125s, not the big bikes with big price tags. Electrics should be simple to build, even bicycle manufacturers can ace it. The battery is a rip-off though. I asked Artisan how much for a spare battery cell for this one and I was told an eye-watering £980 + VAT per cell. So £1960 + VAT is the dual cell set's worth if you need to replace them. That's a write-off right there, lol. What is the expected life of these? 1000 charge cycles they say before losing range, so that's about 50000 Km realistically. Give or take.

The only problem with this bike is recharging. £4000 is an OK price for 80-100 range (plenty of bike have small ranges) and 60mph is fine if you don't motorways . . . but that 3 hour charge time is a real problem. If it had a quick charge function where I could plug it into a standard EV charge port and get 80% charge in around 15 munites would really allow you to plan some day trips . . . 1.5 to 2 hours riding and a 15 minute break seems like a good trade off for an electric bike.

oh no... the law is saying bikes have to have front and rear linked now? As bikers we are trained to use back and front independently. I have never once in many years of riding ever lost control or locked a wheel... and I have once even ridden over ice (caught me off guard and I realised I couldnt get off the bike or I'd slip anyway). Linking brake would probably make me likely to crash tbh. Maybe one could get a mech to de-link them if its not against the law?

I have the Kollter Banshee. $7K. Biggest problem/challenge is you want charge batts in the bike. If you live in a 3rd floor apt. Like me, it is a major ordeal to take out, haul, and charge in you apt. Have a house or access to a plug at work. It is tall. If you are less than 6 ft. Sit on one first. Good looking, lots of compliments. Well made, some cheesy things but mostly over built. Besides that, good bike for half the price of a Zero.

I don‘t think the the Zero SR/F should be the comparison in any case. If compared to a Zero, then it should be compared to the FXS/FXE. Then your at least comparing two supermotards and the price difference is “less” dramatic. What makes electric motorcycles so fun, is the torque. So it’s questionable if anyone who owns a petrol bike would even consider an electric motorcycle, if the typical acceleration from an electric bike is missing. I own a Kawa Z650 and a Zero FXS, if the Zero wouldn’t have as punch as it does (0-60 in 3,8 Sec every time and even more impressive is how it just continues to push from 40-85), I would of never considered an electric motorcycle. If it wasn’t for Zero motorcycles with their known punch and range, I would of likely never changed my perspective on electric motorcycles. Luckily I tested a Zero and I’m certain that electric is the future. I fear that these less powerful e-commuters, may make it hard for the typical powerful electric motorcycles to stand their ground. this is likely to lead to Petrol motorcycle riders, thinking that e-motorcycles are lacking power and range, which isn’t the case anymore. The only problem e-motorcycles are facing right now, is the price issue but I’m sure this with drastically change in the near future. Otherwise thanks for the great video, keep up the good work. 👌🤙

Still can't import them into Australia and we still have speed limits that would drain the battery a lot faster. There really is no point with the govenrment policy the way it is on the taxes that these vehilces attract. You triple your amounts in pounds and double the USD value fo these bikes. That and most of the power to charge the bikes will still come from coal powered plants - which keeps our electricity costs down.

For those on L plates and a short commute, say up to 10 mile, at town centre traffic speeds, it looks okay. However it's £4k, so a learner could get a very good brand new petrol 125 , top speed of about 70, with ABS, decent handling, a range of nearly 300 miles, and the semi blind drivers might hear it coming. Running costs on petrol 125s aren't exactly high. Nope , not for me yet, even as an inner city commuter, a petrol 125 looks a better bet than this bike. The Zero A1 bike looks good, but at £10 to £11K that's too expensive. If you already have your "A" licence, and something like the Street Twin , why bother with this as a second bike? £4k is a lot of tweaks to the Street Twin, or maybe the cash to swap it for a second hand Speed Twin. All that said, borrowing someone else's bike like this, does look like fun :)

Don’t buy. Piece of crap. You get what you pay for. Or in this case you get even less. Bought one it has never worked. I’m out 7k. And have never ridden 1

Hi Stephane... I would say the build quality isn't great and parts a hard to get. The specs don't match real world riding. Top speed 52mph at a push. Difficult if lots of speed changes. Geographically, low power on hills speed drops. So be careful on busy roads. Batteries are 800 cycles but replacing them both you could buy another bike. 0:00 Switches like indicators are small and not very convenient as you have to swith it back to the middle there is no cancil middle click. The back light doesn't come on if the day lights are on. It needs a rear foot brake. They are a round trip pony of about 30ish miles and take 3-4 hours to charge. You can't buy the oil over the counter for the transfer box, I only found it on amazon the oil stinks. The manuel does not match the sump capacity for the actual amount of oil needed. If you follow the manuel it will be over filled. There is some storage so some what practical. Can go off road and if you can get them a set of mx wheels and tires. @stephanefiore4585
