Today I tested some viral art videos on Instagram! Not hacks this time, just insanely talented artists making some crazy artwork in the weirdest ways. The expectation vs reality is pretty strong...The videos are viral for a reason...

Bamboo: You need rounded surface in contact with paper for knife to push paint to both sides. Too much paint. Don't lift it up so high off page for making notches.

The guy doing the upside down painting had a monitor or mirror, so he could see what he was doing. You did it blind, and still kinda got a face shape. Impressive.

To be fair Chloe, on the bamboo one, it would probably work if you had similar paint as to the person (consistency wise where you could get a thing line) and if you used a palette knife, not an actual knife.

The person in the video didn't use paper. It's like a tile, i think. At 8:23 you can see the light reflecting off of it.

I've done it before and it's very hard, but you're supposed to use some kimd of ink. that's what i can remember tho.

im fairly certain it isnt paint, its ink on a tile, and you do it with a palette knife

I tried the hand too. I was found crouched over my paper, muttering 'Where's the thumb? There's no thumb!'. 🤣 You'll definitely get the knack of the bamboo after a few tries. 😉

Pretty sure it's to make sure you're legitimate, and not just using a vpn to repeat the free trials. There's probably also the fact that most adults have cards, and if it's a child trying to use it, the card system would probably also make sure that you had parental permission, since you probably should have that for services like that.

@@katethekitkat8826 yes, it's for proving legitimacy & also because they hope ppl won't go to the trouble of cancelling, so more likelihood of gaining a new customer than if we could just do it without. Personally I really love SkillShare, I'm so glad I started using it! 🙂❤️

You gave them a good go and love the humour! The bamboo one needs a curved blade, that's what gives it the darker edges and gradient into the shine in the centre as only the centre of the blade touches the paper. Also unfortunately the Wacom code never ended up working for me, I tried it throughout the week.

LOL it ain't that deep, son. She's just making a video & adding comedic value. The fact that you time-stamped her jokes & asked if she's okay sounds low-key self-righteous. I may be misinterpreting what you said, but it sounded kind of moral superiority-ish to me.

I pretty sure that bamboo technique is done on a ceramic plate with come dessert sauce. Have seen techniques like this before being used to plate food. So i don't think paint and canvas/paper would work..

Chloe, have you seen those videos where they squeeze tons of splodges of paint directly onto a canvas, smooth it out, and make an impressionist landscape with what seems like WAY too much paint? It looks cool but it’s so much freakin paint! Still, I think it would be cool for you to try it. Most of them are called “Easy Abstract Landscape”.

Chloe, the reason the anamorphic images (the rainbow and ladder) appear 3d on the camera is because they only really work when being viewed as a 2d image, like on the camera. They’d probably look better to you in real life, if you closed one eye while looking at them. Viewing angle is key though. Great job. Love what you do.

You mentioned painting over the painting you did without looking and that made me think, would you do a video about fixing or re-doing/reusing old art? That would be super interesting. I have some old canvas paintings I did as a teen that I'm super not into anymore and thinking about painting over them to reuse the canvas.

in the bamboo one, the tool looks very different from what Chloe is using. That one has a bigger point in the region where the shiny white of the bamboo is (it is actually a palette knife). Chloe is using a rounded edge and that too at the point. Moreover, I think the IG person is using ink and not paint. SO that might help too.

I'M EARLY, 💕💕 I love you Chloe!! I saw a art hack where the wax of the crayon would be overly waxy and you would scratch off the wax and supposedly it'd make it more smooth and brighter. From what Ive heard.
