Pac was just like any other Young man of his age, no wife no children, just cementing a solid foundation of his career before starting up a family and deal with multiple baby mama’s drama. Took advantages of all his opportunities to the maximum. Young people today don’t make a good use of their opportunities. It’s tragic that he didn’t live long enough-to see his life’s work come into fruition. R.I.P🕊🕊
Haroon Ali Money Matters Not true at all I lived in this era. Deathrow was already making 100 million a year selling the most records when he joined. They were already the standard of Hip Hop labels. The first Chronic was one of the best records ever made sonically and creatively at the time. And still is in my opinion. It really raised the bar in Hip Hop because it was something nobody had heard before. And Snoop was the king of the throne in the rap game at that time when Pac came also. They were already well established trust me on this! What made Death Row crumble was when Dr. Dre Left, FACTS! When he left my era kind of moved on and did not take them as seriously, but Pac kept us engaged with the label. When Pac died we moved on. If Dre was still there the hits would have never stopped. The other people on the roster needed Dre's sound to make it work. Dr. Dre and the D.O.C were the ones responsible for all of the magic 1991-1995 prior to Pac getting there.
@@kiambupowell2700 You're not the only one who lived in this era, or area where & when this all went down. deathrow was making 100 million a year selling records before Pac joined; TRU, but 100 million wasn't coming to NONE of the artist, not even DRE! Before Pac, Deathrow wasn't selling double albums better than most sell single albums. So yes, Haroon Ali is correct that he took them to new heights. Now what you Money Matters don't get is the fact that Pac was leaving deathrow after his Makaveli project. Only problem is Sugar Bear have this thing about artist that try to leave deathrow. Remember Sam Sneed? Go find the history as to why he had to go into hiding trying to leave deathrow. Then go peep out why in the HELL would an artist who got the masters to one of the BEST Rap albums of all time, just simply leave the label with NOTHING of DR.'s previous work. When you uncover that, then you might stumble over the revelation that why his baby moma just became his bosses baby moma. Malcolm X said something to Dick Gregory that made sense to people in leading positons. Dick asked Malcolm why is he going to have this speech since he knew he was going to be assassinated . Malcolm said if eye run, what do you think my followers would do? Pac knew the only way you leave Deathrow is getting restraining orders like Dre did Sugar Bear, OR........... Pac couldn't make Hit'em Up, diss one of the greats he idolized (dre), just to turn around and go into hiding after revealing he only got 250,000.00 in cash for RAPS BEST ALL TIME double album (everything else given to him was in sugarbear's name). He wasn't going to run, and if he did, he had nowhere to go. Factor in the whole quincy jones chyt, factor in the FBI's thick ass folder on 2Pac, factor in why snoopy the informant was continuously asking Pac if he's going to vegas after the fact he knew Pac was feeling betrayed by him. Factor in the body of work his mother did and the environment he was raised in, factor in Pac's following, and how dangerous these group of black men would be on the same page. Factor in Pac shot a busta in the ass for a black man he didn't even know (and that busta turned out to be a cop). Factor in the jail rapes, every time he gets a visitor, they going up in his ass cavity (how many times you want someone to visit you then). Now look at that last pic Pac took, and tell meh what you're reading in his face. Pac knew, all the devils to be was ready to "cash out" (which only takes place at a casino). Seeing 2Pac run from this situation would be like seeing your favorite rapper wear long hair, getting lady like nails, coaching gay football, calling it gangsta to hang with a white woman who's done more jail time than you, all while hatin' on a white man who is not only a better rapper than you, but who stands for more black chyt than you. Ohh wait we have that already.
@@kiambupowell2700 Thats true but its more than just that. When we lost Pac, our attention turned away from Death Row, so that was definitely the begining of the end. Snoops second album suffered from production not as glossy as what Dre would have done. Plus, that 80s/90s west coast gangsta rap sound that they refused to depart from was starting to sound dated (Both the east coast supremacy cycle *and* the Pharrell supremacy was just around the corner at this point). But what really fucked Death Row up was the government agency investigations on Death Row that ultimately locked Suge away. With Suge gone, various assests frozen and nobody really qualified to lead the label, Death Row was fucked.
@@universalconquest4447 Suge was dumb! He was a football player trying to play mafia in front of the whole world. He was not a gangster. Suge paid for that image. DR was NOT printing its own money then. From 92-95 they released The Chronic, DoggyStyle, Above The Rim, Murder Was The Case, and Dogg Food. 10 million in 5 years is great. But it takes a lot of money to produce albums. And Suge was spending a lot of money with no recoup that’s why he wasn’t paying people. All them albums platinum yes but Dre and Snoop don’t write they own shit so it an ensemble group making ONE album. So that takes longer to put together and cost cause you gotta bring all these people in from all over. On top of that it’s A LOT of money hands on one album. So after Interscope took they 50 or 60 percent. You still gotta pay bills and floss at the same time. And them millions don’t just come flowing in. Royalty checks are slow coming weeks or months before you see any money. These dudes had all types of bills and child support and legal fees. So that album money gone. Look at how much more you saw of Suge once Pac came to DR. Why because Pac was an ATM. Pac printed his own money. Suge knew that and he used Pac to jump into the spotlight more. If Suge was so smart and built this power house label why did it fall apart after Pac died? Instantly! Because Suge is dumb that’s why he didn’t expand DR he chose to expand his fake gangster image!
@@bambamone3901 Yes, he was a professional athlete that took his NFL earnings and flipped those earnings into a record company in an industry that was and still is dominated by [insert censored word]. He was able to get Dr Dre and The D.O.C. out of a binding contract when no one else could. Suge was willing to take it where no one else would, which required courage and risk-taking, attributes commonly found among leaders. You may not realize it but we live in a World dominated by gangsters. The real gangsters are the shareholders of the 5 major music and media distribution companies. I won't even go into the banking cartel that prints money as they please and lend it as credit, creating inflation. Suge and the Pirus are a product of a criminal entity known as the United States of America. Was it Suge's fault that Snoop got caught up in a murder case that cost 1 million in legal fees? Nate Dogg Robberies? Tupac bail? All the homies from Compton that were given a second chance in life after being institutionalized? Death Row was a money making machine before Tupac got there. Suge's decision-making definitely played a part in the downfall of Death Row, but so did a dozen of other conspiring events; this is the game of life. Dismissing Suge as an idiot and failure is a pessimistic view on history. Why not focus on the part where he built a blueprint for entrepreneurs in a hostile industry? All his ex-wives are still living lavish and all his kids are university-educated and well-off. Suge brought power and prosperity to a lot of people, unfortunately he personally had to pay the price for that.
@@universalconquest4447 What NFL money? Suge barely played in the league. He worked security in Vegas Clubs and afterwards did the same for artistes like Bobby Brown and D.O.C (which was how he snaked his way into Ruthless). Most of the funding for Death Row did not come from him. He didn't have that kind of dough.
But it’s not like that Tupac fault. He came to death row wanting to work with everybody. Suge made Tupac his priority. Pac just wanted to work and work
Exactly plus Pac never blocked any of them he just did his thing and moved out the way. He pumped out songs and that was that kept his work ethic high.
@@ItsAnEndlessWorld facts. The same lady of rage album that was shelved had Pac on it. Same for Nate Dogg album. He wasn’t tryna block nobody, he just wanted to make a spot for his own.
Lies. Every song on All Eyez was from someone else's project that was given to 2Pac. From Cali Love to I Got My Mind Made Up, which had Inspecta Deck from Wu Tang on it and Pac removed his verse, that's why you hear "INS The Rebel" at the end of the song. Pac had a classic album given to him. Cause that 7 Day Thoery shit was nowhere near as good as All Eyez, cause he had to work with less talented producers.

@@mr.cooper656 But according to Tupac ex wife Keisha story it is not true that Snoop was behind the arrival of Tupac at the Label. According to her story Tupac went through difficult times. He was shot five times during that infamous robbery at Quad Studio. He then lost court case as a result he went to jail whilst he was badly injured. Things were really bad. The only person who was in a better position to help was Suge Knight. According to her this is what she personally told Suge Knight. Suge Knight listened to her story and gambled with his money and paid for Tupac release. Obviously he took a good gamble because added a huge value to Death Raw in terms of growth and popularity. The Label became huge and its competitors felt the heart.
If anybody should have been pissed it was Rage because she was up next after Dogg Pound and by the time her album came out Death Row was on the way out except for 2Pac releases.her album was dope and that production from DJ Premier is🔥and he mixed a lot of her album.
2pac is the definition of a gifted/talented ⭐️. You could see it in his eyes/body figure/music ability/etc. Even Suge Knight said to the partner of Death Row Records. Quoted from his mouth. All I need is 2pac. The guy is a genius.
Let's be honest... all them artist on Death Row Records was jealous and mad at Pac when he joined label.. none of the people on that label had love for Pac except Suge Knight.. Suge Knight the only one i believe had genuine love for Pac
I used to work in Louisiana at the oilfields, I knew a lot of people who didn't care for P music but respected P for his hustle also his ability to get shit done. I can dig it
Snoop was always jealous that Eminem and Dre became a huge success. Like he was jealous when Pac came and took his shine on Death Row. I like Snoop's music, but he comes off as an insecure guy.
I remember when Death Row hit the scene.....it was amazing. It made folks proud. These stories are equally amazing. It's oral history and should properly be cataloged for the future. LOVE These Interviews.
@@dianevrules shoulda did 3-4 albums a year or 20 albums a year - who gives a shit... none of them albums got released at all... my point was that master p showed that its possible to flood a market and drop 5, 10, 20 albums a year and all of the albums will sale if the fans want em... everything Death Row dropped was selling like hotcakes... they coulda did whatever they wanted and it woulda sold
@@dianevrules P also had a better deal than all the Young Black CEOs of the time, I believe only Baby and Slim's deal came close. Not Ruff Ryders, Rocafella, Bad Boy, or Death Row. One thing P knew, it wouldn't last for ever, and no one got a split like it again. He maximized it while the numbers were good. 2 great companies with their own strategies. Lol, you just cant call P's strategy that BS 😂😂😂😂 Watch Thirty-Three Hip Hop on RU-vid.
So someone being upset that their album was shelved means they were jealous? Maybe they were just mad their album wasn’t release which means less money. That’s not jealousy
Suge had an entire label of good artists that he shelved. A lot of those artists werent eating cos Suge didnt allow them to release their own shit (Rage signed in 92 and had her first album pushed back until 98! Warren G didnt even get a Death Row album release). So how can they not feel some kinda way about Pacs presence? Altho, Pac did try and include most of the artists on his albums so they could get paid and have credits on successful albums by him, so I gotta give much respect to him for that. 👊🏽🔥
Warren G wasn't signed to Death Row, but to Def Jam. He wanted to sign to Death Row, but Dr. Dre told him not to and to get his own deal, which worked out better for him.
Ill never forget Snoop Dogg rhymed on PAC’s Life Remix something like ‘I stepped down to give you shine’ GTFO. Even the bodyguards were mad at pac, that old ass hating dude James *cough cough*
Pac is on record speaking on artists like Rage taking forever to record music while he's banging out 3-4 songs in a night...it shoulda been those artists taking it as a challenge rather than getting salty.
True but let's be real anyone in that position would take offense if you're called out publicly about your work ethic. I'm a pac fan but I can be unbiased, pac should have kept that private unless you got real animosity for someone.
@@lokey987 I respect your opinion but I see it as a challenge and being who Pac was it should have rubbed off on the rest of DR(making them better not getting in your feelings...it's not time for feelings were trying make records)
@@anthonyarmstrong1423 doesn't take a way from the fact that you'll get offended. how you respond to it is another thing. In most cases that doesn't help unless you really trying to hurt someone's reputation intentionally. It's all good everyone has their opinion.
Snoop was so jealous that suge gave pac his own label with distribution that he wouldn't let his team work with 2pac. Thats why kurupt, daz, nate Dogg are not on pac tracks from mid 96 on.
Which part of 1996 do you mean? Because if you use his og tracks as reference he did a FEW tracks with Kurupt, Nate Dogg and he and Daz even worked on a whole EP together that Daz later pieced together and finished after Pac passed. And Nate Dogg is on Teardrops and Closed Caskets. Kurupt is on Initiated on a few others here and there.
I don't believe they were jealous when he first got there. I believe after a certain time had past and Deathrow and Suge started to just cater to only Pac they felt a certain way. Why not put everybody out especially if they music is done! We were waiting for Snoop's album during that time. We were waiting for Rage and another Dogg Pound album during that time! Why not keep the #1's coming when you are hot! Pac came out in Feb, Rage should have came out in April and Snoop in June! They tried to release albums in November after Pac is killed but Nobody was feeling them or Deathrow!
Pac took Salli Richardson away from Snoop.. that would mess with anyone ego.. i see why he was jealous of Pac.. And Lady Of Rage did have a right to be mad as well.. she was on the label since the beginning.. and Pac joined and pushed her album back even more
Hold up if she was on death row from the beginning and Pac signed up in 95, it ain't Pac fault her album not released earlier. That's down to Dre and Suge, and everyone knows how slow dre works.
Snoop is lazy af he doesn’t have that same work ethic as pac so he should blame himself for being second best on that label..nigga always high taking two days to record one song and shit🤣🤣
Alot Death Row artists albums did get shelved Nate Dogg's debut album G-Funk Classics didn't get released until 1998 it was supposed to be released in 96
They where according to a daz interview they live like next to each other and pac would come earlier in the morning dock on daz door for some beats...daz said to pac early bird get the beats hahah
For her to be in a relationship, she sure was hanging out with a lot of Daz label mates. You can tell she was feeling Suge & Pac. She was hanging with them without Daz being around. In her younger years, she seem like a woman who gravitated to men who had power, money, & fame.
Let's keep it funky. Nooooone of them Death Row cats was pluggin only 1 woman. Nevermind what the pictures show about wedding rings and smiling faces...
Pac was crossing imaginary lines his label mates wouldnt have dared to cross due to theyre gang n neihborhood affiliations. Pac came in persona already established and wit the street clout of a nigga deep n the game already but a nuetral. He prolly interacted with suge more as an equal than a boss cuz he was already use to kicking it wit street bosses so suge felt confortable with him n found it hard to treat him like a basic artist cuz he didnt carry himself as such.
I totally agree with this! 2pac was already made and established before he joined Deathrow. He already had a number album from jail and has movies and all. So suge respected him more because he didn’t carry himself as a regular artist. He didn’t need Deathrow. Snoop and them other guys came up under Deathrow so without Deathrow they would be nothing
Why would Snoop be jealous of Eminem? If that was the case, he would’ve left Death Row to go to Aftermath with Dre. Instead, he chose Master P and No Limit.
he did dogg pound and snoop makaveli wasnt suppose to come out until 97.. dogg food 95 all eyez on me 96 doggfather 96 not to mention the soundtracks to the movies pac was doin
@@theodorebelmont7922 life after death was supposed to come out in 96 that’s why on the intro to bomb 1st he said other rappers pushin they dates back..because they heard about the makaveli album but the only reason makaveli came out in 96 was because he died dogg father came out the next month dropping albums that close is detrimental to sales
I believe everything she says as far as Suge treating Pac more as a brother than a artist because most pics of Pac with coat suits or just vibing doing his thang Suge was with him most of the time and practically in all the pics. Snoop or Dre barely ever made appearances with Suge let alone pictures I was always curious about that (I wasn’t born until a week after Pac death so imma youngin to the 90s scene)
Everyone knew Snoop was jealous of 2pac lol. But he always act like him and 2pac always been buddy buddy. But 2pac and Suge got mad when he went on the radio station and said he was cool with Biggie/Puffy. But the same dude who stood up at the 95 Source awards saying "East coast don't got love for Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre and Death Row" lol
They shelved Nate Doggs Album! HUUUUUGE MISTAKE!! that double album was & is a CLASSIC and nothing ever came out before or after its eventual release!! Today that double album is rare, worth like $80 used but it should've been released & promoted right at right time!! To me its up there with All Eyes On Me but on a singing type lane.
And Suge and Easy E beef Easy was the Godfather hands down Richest independent label owner first he had the Super bag at the time but he was a Crip and Suge was Blood and Dre loyalty was to Benjamin Franklin so it was going to be several issues.
I always lowkey felt like The Lady Of Rage had something against Pac.. she always says lowkey hating shit about Pac.. I think it's because when Pac joined the label her album got shelved.
