As a commercial artist, I would *_definitely_* trace. Your job is to get the work done very well, but *_quickly._* You don't get celestial brownie points by making things hard on yourself! ;)
hey Roth Dog.... I own an art company in the UK and have struggled finding an artist to do our commissioned work the way we want it. So I've decided to have a go myself. I've never even tried digital art myself as I prefer pencil scratching and oil painting. I've now got Artrage 4.5 and am trying to decide on the tablet, What size would you go for and given today's choices which would you pick? PS I don't get on with Mac so will be a Windows user if it makes a difference???!
Roth Dog thanks, I was leaning towards to the pth-651 which I think is just an updated version of what you have, thanks for the reply. Can't wait to get stuck in.
Great work! You lay in flat color UNDER your pencil drawing, then when you go to render, is that done ON the pencil layer, or ABOVE it? Super result. It also looks like a lot of the soft shading is done with gray; is that right?
Roth Dog, amazing work! I was wondering about drawing lines in artrage. Are all lines freehand? Or is there some sort of "line" tool like in Adobe Illustrator that uses nodes and handles for precision line drawing, arcs, etc? Thank you!
