Jon, i would love to win that keyboard. Im just starting out as a producer at the age of 43. Made alot of wrong decisions early in life, but now making music helps me wash away all that. Love the vlog, watch everyday. Thanks for taking the time to make them.

Not a single reviewer on YT mentioned the USB port, the fact that the connector and the plastic part behind it goes inside. That ensures that the port wont break off after a week if you're traveling. Genius on Arturias part.

I've had two different little Casio keyboard that I broke the USB port on (one I tried to fix and failed, one I didn't try) and I've been looking at this controller as an upgrade (the functionality I miss is controlling midi on PC anyway) and hearing this is insanely encouraging.

It's funny because I went to the music store to buy a ROLAND FP-30 piano but ended up buying the 61 key version of this as well lol. It's nice to have piano for more more "hardcore" instrumental/orchestral compositions/bass lines, but the intricacy of the ARTURIA, with its dials and sliders, is also great too! I like to play piano, which is why I got the ROLAND, for the weighted/hammer response keys, but I also enjoy creating New Age/instrumental music. I never thought I'd buy an actual MIDI controller like this. I've owned M-AUDIO in the past but they were more weighted keys with little, to no, sliders or dials. So buying this was a bit of a apprehension but I am SO glad that I did! The fake wood sides don't bother me to be honest.. Gives it a sort of retro feel lol.

I haven't alot of money so I can either buy a cheap 88 key weighted digital piano or this, what would you recommend. I love playing about with different virtual instruments and making beats but I've wanted to learn piano for a very long time now. Do you think this midi controller would be good for me to learn piano and use for a few years before upgrading and is 61 keys enough?

The key advantage of keyboards like this the integration with Arturia plugins, every VST you pull up is properly mapped. Having said that, the Native Instruments controllers also work with Arturia products, and not vice versa. You need to think what your long-term objective is, and if you consider diving into Kontakt samplers, the NI keys are a strong choice. And I don't think Arturia minds, someone who uses an NI keyboard after purchasing the full Arturia software plugin line up.

You know what professionals like Kygo, Alan Walker, Charlie Puth, D.Imman, etc., use non-weighted synth action midi keyboards that aren't even with 88 keys! If you are good at playing you can play anything on everything!!

Jon, hope you answer, I just get the 66 key and it is horrible, really i don't need the daw control, but the unit is like an maudio unit, nothing special, or nektar, first it crashed my cubase pro and cubase LE licenses, had to reinstall ., then had to reinstall the labs but this takes for ever to load up as a vst in , tried in two computers, so slow, other vsts pop up in seconds, including massive etc.. i spent 8 hours yesterday trying to get things to work and 4 hours today, now the DAW does not function followed their online guide, it does nothing. i think i should get a nektar 88 for the same price, I thought the library of vst's would be a great addition, but i am not so impressed

Thanks for the awesome videos. I am getting into recording my own music and use GarageBand. Looking at getting a new keyboard and a bit intimated by all the faders and knobs. Would they be useful for studio recording or are they mostly for live?

QUESTION: are those 9 knob encoders really ENDLESS (360+ degrees)? That is: can you really turning them endlessly without that "stop points" on left and right (like 160 degrees at maximum)?

Interesting. How about key action in Keylab? I am using Roland FP-30, Yamaha Grand piano, and a couple of upright pianos. But I need something small for making an electronic music. Something inexpensive but with good keyboard.

yes it's pretty easy you can have a setting or shortcut to assign any button to any midi just by clicking the virtual noob and turning the real one afterwards but I forgot how :)

Why buying a weightless midi keyboard if you're interested only in weighted keys, and also not being interested in actual faders and knobs, and those pads? Its a contradiction with own principles :D
