Representational art winner Teresa Hill was born and lived in Houston, Texas before relocating to Southern California to persue her degrees in art. Her paintings stem from her life experience as a biracial (White/Mexican) woman, and she uses the language of art to tell her story. Her winning entry, "La Luchadora" represents her own personal struggles of existing in the gray space between her two cultures, and using art as a way to communicate about who she is and how she sees the world as a biracial woman.
