This is our P&O Arvia ULTIMATE SHIP TOUR and GUIDE! We sailed on Arvia for 14 nights and this gave us a unique opportunity to explore the ship in detail. We were on the maiden voyage of P&O newest ship Arvia! We were onboard for 14 nights. The cruise visited a number of ports in Portugal and Spain over Christmas and New Years. This was our first experience of a Christmas and New Year cruise, and also, this will be our first P&O cruise. We have together this ship tour to provide you with information on Ariva and the venues onboard.
We are Tom and Dom and we experienced our first cruise on the MSC Virtuosa during her UK staycation cruises in 2021. We are relatively new to cruising, however we can now say we are officially hooked.
Our mission is provide a fair and balanced review of our travels. We look at the types of food that is available onboard, from main dining rooms, room service, buffets and pool side snacks. We include menus for each of cruises so that we can share the selection of drinks and meals that are available. Entertainment onboard a cruise ship is important to us and we enjoy theatre production shows, live music, quizzes and game shows. We love to explore different ports and destinations and enjoy sharing tips and tricks so that you can make the most of each port. We often explore ports independently but also book excursions that are interesting to us.
We have created a list of our cruise essentials. These are items we take with us when we travel and we hope they may be useful to you. We have also added a Wine list which contains some of the wines we have tried whilst cruising.

Tom and Dom, thanks for giving this thorough tour of one of the world's newest cruise-ships. It was a special occasion to witness the christening in Barbados, including the presence of many officials, not least of all the Prime Minister Mia Mottley. I appreciated that narrated with clear voice and in an unrushed tone. Thanks for providing links to all the details of menus! That is one of the most important things in a vacation!

Thank you so much. Nanortalik is a really interesting place like no other we have been to. If you can get out and see the icebergs then that’s our must do. Other than that take a look in the museum if you have time but most of all try and chat to the locals. They are very friendly and have so many interesting experiences to share.

Thank you so much! We appreciate your feedback 😀 You will be able to reserve seats to the main theatre and speciality restaurants 2 weeks before you depart through the P&O website. For daily activities, quizzes, bingo, comedians etc you will not know when these are until you are on the cruise! And even then you will only know the night before when the horizon planner is delivered to your cabin! I’m sure the entertainment manager knows exactly what’s happening but things are subject to change on a daily basis! Hope this helps 😀 Have a fantastic time 😀

You can do it without paying for food at all very easily on Arvia. The buffet, the Quays, the American Diner, Mediterranean restaurant, poolside grill are all included

The sports court is relatively small and hidden. It is located next to the entrance of Altitude Skywalk and Mini Golf.

A lot of these venues look very plain, but I’m sure it’s just the camera and that you’re visiting at the wrong time of day. Hopefully they look a bit more rich and atmospheric when the lights are dimmed.

Living in Manchester and having family in Ireland, I’d normally go SailRail between Holyhead to Dublin for the 3 hours crossing, but because Dublin Port in recent years has been expanded to take cruise ships, I’d love to join one of these cruise ships at Liverpool and make the 8 hour crossing to Dublin instead - surely these cruise lines have spare capacity on their ships and it would be a much more luxurious way to cross the Irish Sea, as this was done in the years long before flying and air travel - with the Irish government’s proposal to restrict and/or ban “short-haul” flights between the U.K. and Ireland due to EU “climate change” directives, this could very well happen in the coming years, as earlier proposals for a high-speed rail tunnel between Holyhead and Dublin were shelved yet again due to lack of private investment as it also looks like HS2 in the U.K. is about to get scrapped

That sounds like it would be a fantastic opportunity. MSC do short cruises one or two nights to places such as Rotterdam and QM2 sometimes does 2 nights to Hamburg so we don’t see any reason why Dublin shouldn’t get the same

Majority of the ship doesn’t feel to busy. The exception would be the infinity pools on a sunny day and the main dining rooms at around 7-8

Thanks for your comment! You can book entertainment and restaurants up to two weeks before you board by logging into the P&O website! When you are onboard you can do it when connected to the ships Wi-Fi or in person on the day you board! 😀

Hi thanks for your comment! Additional costs are your drinks, alcohol and soft! You can get free tea and coffee in the buffet while it’s open and juices in the morning. Speciality restaurants onboard all incur an additional charge as does the Mission Control experience and The Limelight club. Food wise the zenith, meridian, 6th street, olive grove and horizon are all good so you do not need to spend extra on food as these are included in your cruise fare. You’ll be able to have a look at what is available for an extra charge on the P&O website, you’ll need to log in with your booking reference to see everything. I hope this helps, our biggest expense onboard was drinks! 😀

Hi Tom and Dom, I have been following your videos on the Arvia. My wife and I have booked to go on Arvia in June and I know its not an easy one to answer, but we are humming and aarring as to whether we should buy the drinks package or not. Do you think its worth it?

Hi 👋 thanks for the comment! 😀 This is a tricky one! The Ultimate drinks package on P&O is currently £39.95 and your are limited to 15 alcoholic drinks up to £6.95 per day. It does include unlimited premium coffees, teas, draught soft drinks, water by bottle or can and juices. Most small glasses of wine are priced around £6.50 mark most beers/lagers were around £5, single spirits with mixer were £6.50. Their standard cocktails were £6.95. You only need 4 drinks at 6.95, two coffees and a few soft drinks to break even with the package! You are limited to what you can have in the package, P&O do some really nice drinks above the £6.95 mark but overall we felt we did save money! Our best advice is to see how you go on day 1 and then check how much you’ve spent! You can then buy the drinks package on day 2 of your cruise, P&O allow you to do this, if you feel it’s the best deal. 😀

If you use the shuttle bus to head into city (barcelona, marseille) is there only 1 bus at a set time that returns ? Or is it a on the hour type deal ?

Thanks for your question! 😀 Shuttle buses usually run backwards and forwards throughout the day, every 20, 30 minutes for example. You will be told the time of the very last shuttle bus back to the ship, there are signs everywhere and in the daily horizon planner, after that there will not be anymore! Hope this helps

We’ve been trying to book the restaurants that are included but the times are too early… how do you join a virtual queue? Can you just go to the restaurant and wait to be seated?

Hi thanks for your question! 😀 You can only prebook really early sittings! For anything later you have to use the virtual queue each day onboard! Once onboard you can connect to the onboard Wi-Fi, this is free although you won’t have internet access unless you pay for it, go to myholiday.pocruises.com on your smartphone and you’ll be able to join the virtual queues that way. You can also go down and ask at each of the restaurants, they may give you a buzzer. We found it was much quicker just to use the virtual queues! 😀 Hope this helps!

That’s difficult for us to say as we did not have the opportunity to go in and take part! There’s no information regarding accessibility anywhere that we can see! However, P&O are generally very good at making their ships accessible for all!

@@kellymitchell4597 if it’s your first cruise and you want Southampton we would probably suggest either P&O or Princess. There is a cruise out there for everyone but it’s important you choose the right one
