ARW - Anderson, Rabin & Wakeman performed at The Beacon Theater and NOT at The Radio City Music Hall in NYC!! I got confused with seeing YES at RCMH on July 9th, 2014. This was on November 1st, 2016. Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman played the music of YES. Great nigh for sure!

Gonna see them in October - God willing .My all time favorite band, I will miss Chris being there, he was my inspiration to stay with bass guitar and practice my ass off. There's something to Jon's voice that I find very calming. It's amazing that it hasn't lost any power over the years. He sings so effortlessly. His tone and timbre are his own. What were Yes thinking?

First time I heard "Lift Me Up" (back in the day) I thought, "damn, Jon's voice sounds good on this." Then I found out Rabin sang it...

And he NAILED it this night! It was truly a beautiful moment which is why he got the reaction that he did - including from me.😅 Anyone that had attended earlier shows (I had) or viewed footage of that 1st tour, know he struggled with lyric recall when it came to LMU. The entire concert was one of the best performances of that tour in my opinion - it was a very last-minute and spontaneous decision to attend, but SO happy I did!

This is real Yes ¡¡¡¡ JON ANDERSON RULES ¡¡¡¡¡
7 лет назад
The spirit essence of Yes is lyrics 50% and music 50% more or less, lyrics is Anderson, plus music, I found here a 75% of yes or more, the other one without Anderson is nice only nice, but this is more artistic for me.

This is great. Thank you so much for posting this excellent video. At this point there's no question in my mind as to which of the rival "Yes" factions is doing proper justice to the Yes catalog on stage. I love Steve and Alan, but their version of Yes sounds tired and lacking heart and vigor. They seem to just be going through the motions. These guys sound great and are genuinely enjoying playing with one another. I am rally looking forward to seeing them this summer Side note: The Meeting is not a Yes cover, it is from the ABWH album and not an actual "Yes" song.

Hi I saw them at Cardiff last night a fantastic show. Someone in an earlier post talks of the real yes being Anderson, squire, wakeman Howe etc. That is wrong yes we're Anderson, squire, bruford, banks and Kay. Two albums released prior to the yes album. I saw them play in the original lineup several times, saw rick first ever live show like a warm up gig for him and the yes album tour. So the original Yes is no more and never will be as two of them have left this world. What we have now is ever expanding group of musicians who will carry yes music on, who knows where. And it is a matter of opinion to who is better than the other , which one is a cover group etc. At the end of the day as long as the music is out there being played live , enjoy it, life is to short.

The actual Yes has a combined 36 appearances on Yes albums compared to ARW's 28. There is no argument to be made that ARW is the real Yes. None. But, wait! You say Anderson was an original member? He was not. Yes was once called Mabel Greer's Toyshop. They formed a year prior to Anderson joining. So that argument won't work either. You can look all of this up if you don't believe me.

Good video. Kept it still, sound wasn't horrible. I know at the time they were called ARW, but it was essentially Yes in a different configuration. Shouldn't have tagged the songs as Yes covers. Technically maybe they were, but this band isn't or was never a Yes "cover band".

Yes are whoever the Management say they are. Sad but true, and it’s always been those that stayed in the band. That’s why when ABWH formed they couldn’t use the Yes name so when Yes were working on their new album with Squire, Rabin, White, Kaye and Sherwood they invited Anderson to sing. Then the others came back and we had the 9 piece Yes of Union (which I was lucky enough to see as well as ABWH) once that was over Wakeman, Howe and Bruford were once again jettisoned by the Management and we had the 90210 line up until they all started leaving and being replaced again. Kaye left. Igor Khoroshev joined and left. Rabin left and Howe rejoined. Geoff Downes rejoined again. We lost Squire, Sherwood finally joined. Anderson left and Benoît took his place, then Davison. You can hardly keep up and I’ve probably missed someone. Oh yes, Oliver Wakeman joined and left. It’s still Yes. Whilst ARW are Yes in all but name, same as ABWH were. They just can’t use the name. But it’s all Yes to me as there have been 4 vocalists, 3 guitar players, 2 bassists, 3 drummers, 6 keyboard players (again, I bet I’ve missed someone) but throughout all those changes it’s all still Yes whether they are the legal named band or some offshoot.

That leaves the problem as who the bassist is gonna be for the performances. I heard Geddy Lee is inducting them into the HoS though, so maybe he could do it? (That'd be amazing.) I think it's gonna be either him or Billy Sherwood (since he's the current bassist for Yes and he was a good friend of Chris).

As much as I think Rabin is a brilliant player, I cringe when I hear him play Roundabout. Worst cover of a Yes song I've ever heard in my life. And I've had to sit thru it many times. Anderson was the youngest member of Yes originally, but they're all past their prime. Wakeman and Rabin had a really good time throwing licks back and forth for the Union tour, otherwise there's other keyboardists who could have done a better job with ARW. Tom Brislin, for example, but Wakeman draws crowds.

It says "yes cover" on setlist dot fm for a reason. When a band plays something which their band did not create, then its a cover, technically speaking. Did not all three of these guys quit Yes? So, how are they still in the band if they quit? They are not and hence they are covers. It's that simple. Some people don't like to accept facts. But those are the facts.
@d5uncr
@d5uncr 6 лет назад
donut, by that logic the band currently called YES _also_ plays covers whenever they're not playing something created by Davison, Sherwood, et.al, no...? None of the songs in this set is originally credited as written by YES. Hold On and Owner are written by Rabin, Anderson and a dead guy, Lift Me Up by Rabin and the dead guy and most of Changes was apparently written by Rabin before he joined YES - are Rabin and Anderson, in your mind, doing "covers" when they're playing their own songs? I had no idea you could write a song and then do a cover of it...
@keviniles8748
@keviniles8748 6 лет назад
Indeed. By that same logic, Paul McCartney is "covering" The Beatles when he plays Let It Be, Hey Jude, etc. Seems kinda silly. He wrote those songs same as Jon, Trevor, & Rick wrote or co-wrote the songs they are playing.
@mikemadunic7960
@mikemadunic7960 7 лет назад
Trevor Rabin is the real fuc**ng deal. As good of a "classical" player as Steve Howe is I find his playing puts me to sleep. Rabin is one of those guitar heroes that kind of flies under the radar. (Steve Stevens is another that comes to mind) I've seen both Rabin and Howe play live with YES and Travin Rabin blew me away. Man that guy can PLAY! Better than average singer too. No offense intended toward fans that prefer the "classic" period of YES with Steve Howe but given the chance to pick which guitarist that I'd rather see play live with YES, I'd choose Rabin every time. That being said, thanks to the uploader for sharing this concert. I really enjoyed it. RIP Chris Squire, you are certainly missed by all YES fans.

I don't want to speak evil about anyone, but Jon Anderson has something that Jon Davison or the awful David never had : charisma. He both has rock-grit and angel-like softness. Who's playing bass? I've scrolled thru the comments but can't find it. I should know, but I'm not familiar with him or the drummer, who, by the way, is Good!

Bassist is Lee Pomeroy from Jeff Lynne's ELO - when he's not working with Rick Wakeman's British Rock Ensemble - and a few other groups, as well. Drummer is Louis Molina III - from Philadelphia, I think.

Steve Howe used to be okay - if just a tad over-regarded - 'til he, himself, started believing all the hype & PR. Never cared for that picky-choppy style - that often was weird simply for the sake of being weird. Far prefer Rabin's smooth, melodic choices. Far more complimentary to Wakeman's playing.

Noora, do you know why they stop recordings and photos? It interrupts the musicians who have to concentrate and annoy the people watching, especially at the costs of shows today. I am a photographer and have been shooting concerts for almost 40 years and in the late '70s so many people, fans and musicians alike had complained about photographers getting in front or their flashes annoying them that the whole system was changed from being able to photograph an entire concert to just the first 3 songs and no flash and to stay off to the side not in front of people who had been paying top dollar to have people stand in front of them, flashing in the eyes of the performers and basically pissing a lot of people off. Today front row seats can go for 300 bucks a shot. If you payed 600 for you and your partner to see a show, would you appreciate having people stand in front of you to get their shots and just keep doing so? I bet you'd want a refund. Before things were tamed, earlier shows in the 60s and 70s didn't have tight security, so people just flooded the floor areas blocking the place up tight to the point riots used to break out - I used to see people beating up others at concerts even guys lighting off roman candles, burning the people in front of then very badly even one death I remember hearing about at a show I saw from a Roman candle. You may be a considerate person and would be satisfied with a few shots, but many aren't so imagine 16,000 people all flashing away for 2 hours. I once asked permission from Robert Fripp to take a flash shot during a sound check and he replied just 2 please and he stopped me later and thanked me for being polite.

I practiced every note Chris Squire ever played on every album and thought maybe they would pick me to take his place.Oh well , I'll just go back to writing and rehearsing my own stuff.
