I'm neither Meitei or Kuki but most of the description of the ongoing Manipur conflict by Indian mainstream news channels are not accurate or incomplete or worse distorted. This media should invite neutral people and get the sense of the conflict.

What happened in manipur is GOI gameplan to end insurgency plus they have geopolitical importance on myanmar in order to stop china and ofcourseto secure act east policy. However , their strategy somewhat failed and led to clashes of ethnic groups in Manipur, which we lived together for ages. Same strategy used by british is still continuing in Manipur. Divide and rule policy! Sometimes, i asked myself, am i Indian? because of the way GOI treated us.

What is lengthening this conflict is Indian Government playing its geopolitical game. The indian govt is supporting the National Unity Government by arming and training the Kuki Militants. This is done through the hands of Assam Rifles. The NUG on the other hand returns the favour by fighting the militant groups who are not in talks with the indian govt.

Nobody talks about how manipur king was house arrested in shillong and was forced to sign merger agreement with India without any proper information to the king nor its people benefit from it!! Indian agents look down upon Northeastern states as wild and savages which they thought could easily rule with military AFSPA but never imagined the terrains are totally different from mainland india and firece resistance will occur due to the grievances of Merger agreement. Till today Indian policies and agendas are like British era divide and rule the different communities!! Ruthless military actions against common people and killing mercilessly was also a reason for tge rise of many insurgency!! Now the present situation that is happening in Manipur is basically refugees kukis who dont have any land to claim for themselves plan and dream for decades a separate land zelangam only for themselves carving out of manipur alongside with support from Indian military Intelligence in return helping indian military to crush Meitei and Naga insurgency!!

NSCN IM, UNLF, KYKL are allies of Myanmar Military regime thus said where they get all their arms and ammunitions they are supported by the Myanmar Military Junta regime their monthly food rations and arms and ammunitons and not part of NUG of Myanmar (Democratic Govt). KNA-B, PDF, CNF/CNA are part of NUG. Thus are not on the same coin one one Military Authoritarian and one in Democratic NUG allies.

Manipur has been 'The Powder Keg of NE India' just like The Balkans was before World War 1. The violence in Manipur has resulted in rise of Ethno Nationalism in NE India. Zo nationalism has reemerged after laying dormant for so long (since MNF days) in states like Assam, Tripura due to Manipur and also the ongoing conflict in Chinland and Chittagong Hills. Nagas have always been vocal about their aspirations though it has toned down with NNPGs adopting negotiation measures with GoI. But NSCN IM is an organization that thrives on chaos and the NIA wouldn't come public with their charge sheet without credible evidence. Remember Apam Shimrah,NSCN IM Kilonser caught by Nagaland police last year for siphoning ammunition to Meitei groups? Meitei seem to have been handed the toughest hand due to 1. Keeping Manipur territorial integrity 2. War with Kuki-Zo. Now scraping FMR with Burma due to Manipur violence has been categorically objected by Zo Reunification Organisation who have proclaimed a Declaration of War if India goes ahead. The coming months will be detrimental for whole NE

Nice work....however the march to Assembly house in 2001 is due to the signing of ceasefire agreement without territorial integrity. The protest against the rape and killing of Manorama is in 2004 in front of the Kangla gate. In addition to the present discussion, it would be interesting to discuss the same trajectory since 1949 after the accession of the state of Manipur to India from the perspective of TRUST, LOVE & RECOGNITION. Things would have been pretty different. I always hear and read since my childhood about the necessity of mililitarization of the ne region. In the last one decade or so we are happy that we are gradually heading towards normalcy, but the recent conflict and all the unraveling taking into the geopolitical aspects, most people are begining to get convinced that the nation state would never allow this region to have a long lasting peace. This is no secret.. In Manipur, Meiteis and NSCN-IM(manipur nagas) are both an alliance since the past. The Kukis suffered Ethnic Cleansing from both the NSCN-IM(Manipur nagas) and meiteis during the 1990s and 2023 only to marginalized the Kukis in Manipur. Sadly the central govt always failed to bring Justice to the genocide victims. Such sadful tragedies faced by Kuki population will never be forgotten by the Kukis in the future to come.

The history of Manipur is quite embarrassing and challenging for the Government of India (GOI), which may be why the GOI takes the Meitei community seriously and generalizes them as insurgents to demoralize the entire Meitei community. Here are some points to notice about how the media are being misleading: Assam Rifles engineered Kuki militants to fight against Meitei insurgents and Naga insurgents. (The majority of the Kuki population are foreigners in India.) The GOI gives free rein to Kuki militants because of the Kaladan project, which crosses Chinland in Myanmar (Chinland is an area inhabited by the Kuki). The GOI is interested in Myanmar as a strategic point to counter China. The Kuki community has been fighting in Myanmar, Bangladesh, and India to form a nation called Zalengam, which means "doing whatever one wishes without any restriction," as clearly written by P.S. Haokip (a book expressing hatred towards every community apart from the Kuki). The Kuki are a community that is the greatest enemy of the forest and the largest poppy planters in Manipur and the Northeast. Please conduct your own research and do not just believe this biased and misleading information from unethical media houses.

I didn't get the aim and objective of the narrative..was it about Kuki- Meitei conflict or is it about the chronology of Manipur base militants..you failed badly in both.. even facts you read from your research is not accurate.. Have you spoken anything about the role of Govt of India and Asssam Rifles in the present crisis in Manipur as well as the series of actions taken by Govt of India towards Manipur that, today majority of Manipuris are first picking up arms or inclined towards it, rendering one of most armed society in India.. I have few questions..Why did Manipur joined India Union..Was it done WILLINGLY or Was it FORCED merger... because you are talking about how Manipur joined India Union and conditions of Manipur before joining India.. Militancy in Manipur started somewhere around 1966 as per uou.. However Manipur has NEVER witnessed PEAK militancy anytime in more than 50 years..whereas Mizo militancy peaked within 10-15 years and India has to resort to Air strike to control it..Naga militancy peak within 10 years that India has to grant Statehood for Nagaland ( a district of Assam) by 1962 while Manipur, a princely state as well as having more population than Nagaland 0:19 was granted Statehood only in 1972 What was the demographic of Manipur in 1950 verse in 2024.. Manipur has a history over 2000 years.And it was ruled by different kings of Manipur. During the British raj Manipur was once a princely states.On 21 September 1949 Bodhachandra the king of Manipur signed the merger agreement, disputed as having been done without any consultation of the popular ministry under Manipur state Constitution Act 1947 and denial the king's request to return to Manipur to discuss the same with his people. Under 'duress' and 'coercion' the king signed the merger agreement merging the kingdom into India which led to its a Part C State (After Manipur got independence from British in the year 14 August 1947, Manipur was the first democratic Constitutional monarchy in South east Asia.And it was ruled by its own elected representative for about 2 years) Followed by contestation of the merger by the people of Manipur, resulting in a 60 years insurgency in the state inorder to restored the lost sovereignty of Manipur

Burning of Assembly is about implementation of ceasefire without limited boundary, when any insurgents die in encounter you will not see much protest. About Manorama is the way she is killed in their custody. The result of this is the protest by the women in front of the Assam Rifle gate naked. Kindly correct me if I am wrong. Wherever the Kuki's live, they get all the job opportunities equally as the local tribals, land, equality and so on, as our own. In no way they are being discriminated in any way. It's just that they claim each and every land they inhabit to be their ancestral land. And when it comes to land issues, NE tribals will never compromise with anyone and that is why Kuki's have issues North-South-East-West everywhere in northeast except Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim since they migrated through Myanmar and not China and these two states border China so it's logical.

Well researched report on the role of insurgency in the present conflictin the state. The govt contracted 'think tanks' and 'experts' should study the history (not the doctored versions) of the region and its people before giving their 'expert' advice to whoever makes the decisions for the GOI. As a Meitei, I identify as Indian first and Manipuri second. I do not support the secessionist movement among the Meitei, which has significantly dwindled over the last decade. However, I am concerned by the increasing alienation among youths who, due to central government policies, believe that the Indian army is not here to safeguard Manipur’s integrity against external threats. Now, it seems that Indian agents are using the Kukis, arming them to gain geopolitical leverage in Myanmar, indirectly supporting their fight against the Meitei. Arming illegal settlers and backing them against native people is an unforgivable and unforgettable act. The Meitei community has been confined to a mere valley area, which is testing the patience of every Manipuri. Since joining India, we have seen the loss of Kabaw Valley to Myanmar, handed over by Nehru. Now, we are at the brink of losing half of our land to illegal settlers who came in droves after the 1950s, availing themselves of all the quotas enshrined by the constitution. This is a major bone of contention among the Meitei. I hope the central leaders understand this and amend their policies. If the situation spirals out of control, it could lead to a major crisis for India in the coming years. I hope this does not happen and that central leaders adopt wise and transparent policies to address the situation in Manipur. We will support transparent policies that ensure justice and fairness for all communities in the region.
