As Nodt: THE FEAR | BLEACH Character Analysis 

I feel like As Nodt is the personification of some of Kubo’s personal demons. Anxiety, panic attacks, chronic pain, existential dread. He’s such a great villain because he draws from lived experience.

I get the feeling that As Nodt was someone who survived Auswahlen. We know that even if the light doesn't strip away your flesh and power, it still leaves a clot in the victim's heart that can kill them eventually Here in his past, he was (un)lucky enough to have survived the selection, but the clot likely still made his bedridden days painful. If this is the case, then its truly unfortunate that the one who gave him a second chance and the one who gave him his worst feelings of fear was likely the one who made him suffer so much in the first place

One of my favorite villains in the series. Great design, power and fights. Always loved how As Nodt was a God-fearing man, that was granted the power to inflict fear upon others by his God.

Kubo was must’ve been on a mission to produce straight up nightmare fuel after hollows became basic jobbers, AND HE SUCCEEDED!!!

As Nodt was an instant favorite character for me. The design, the abilities, the backstory and poetic irony of his character. He’s like a vertical slice of what I love about Bleach

The flesh that appears afterwards is an analogy for his illness and the idea his religion is rebirthing himself into a new body that has ZERO PAIN23:36

It's ironic, yhwach lied to asdnot. He acted as if he saved him from dying permanently. But would eventually get caught up in ashwalen one day.

Barragan's Resurrecion and As Nodt's Vollstandig are two of the best character designs.

As nodt is walking nightmare fuel. Kubo did a great job creating As Nodt. He wanted to create a terrifying villain and he succeed.

One of the few sternritters who we actually got to know a bit about. I still think he was taken out way to early & more could have been done with him especially since Rukia & Byakuya didn't do anything after the As Nodt fight. Here is me hoping they extend his fight a little like they did with Renji & Mask cause for someone who got introduced as an absolute menace we didn't see much of him . Also hope we get to see more of Rukia's.Bankai Vs As Nodt since this is her last big fight of the series

I think I know why he asks Yhwach for forgiveness at the end. Yhwach is in universe Jesus and the one way to get to heaven is to accept his sacrifice so he can forgive your sins. He’s asking for that forgiveness so he doesn’t end up in hell. Truly a man of God

He thought fear was "cool", but I guess he "Froze" when Rukia gave him the "Cold" shoulder. Maybe he shouldn't have lost his head in the big moment.

As Nodt is Scarecrow of Bleach. Both use fear to shake their enemies and both love to install psychological and physical horror to their opponents.

He was a great character. I can't wait to see this animated. A true villain. He was a a great character and Kubo really went all out with this one. This is one of the fights I have been really waiting for.

literally Yoshitsugu Matsuoka's best work ever

You know, As Nodt is the second Bleach character to have multiple eyes in his strongest form, the first one was the 7th Espada, Zommari Rureaux. Now that I think about it, both characters seem to have similarities to a Yu-Gi-Oh Dual Monster, specifically, One-Thousand Eyes Restrict. Think about it, like One-Thousand Eyes Restrict, both Zommari and As Nodt use multiple eyes in order to affect their opponents. Sure the way they use said eyes are different, but the principal is the same. Am I the only one who noticed that?

Thinking about As Nodt’s monologue on fear, I almost feel like it was a missed opportunity that he didn’t meet Hisagi. They could have a great debate on whether fear makes you weaker or if it can be motivation to be stronger. In a alternate world I’d like to think we’d have gotten an epic bankai moment from Hisagi as he turns his fear into a weapon

The Scarecrow. Even read his quotes in the manga and subs (until the anime gets English Dubbed) in the portrayal of John Noble, the actor who voiced Scarecrow in Batman: Arkham Knight. Me personally next epsd fight will qualify as great adaptation if they just extend and add stuff lil bit, like as ndot throwing hands to rukia, the fight in the manga is one of the fight that I hate, he just talk Rukia not get punch or anything she just got scared and overcome it and got scared again when as ndot do he's holy form, and that's it,

Both of As Nodt's voices in the anime really bring out the creep factor of this character. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka gives us a menacing deep voice that strikes fear into many, while Elijah Ungvary has this unsettling monotone that is very unnerving to hear. I do look forward to this week's episode where he gets to fight Rukia and we see him become susceptible to his own power.

(Unpopular opinion) As Nodt is one of my favorite Sternritters. I, somehow, love him FAR more then I ever loved Jugram and Uryu COMBINED.
