Near Asakusa, Tokyo in mid-April, Ichiyo Sakura Matsuri Festival features two tayu (oiran) courtesans appearing in a colorful retinue and on stage . They reenact the Yoshiwara red-light district's oiran dōchū courtesan procession held in the 17th-18th centuries. Held annually on the second Sat. of April at 1 pm on Komatsubashi-dori street north of Asakusa Kannon Sensoji Temple.
