Damn BBC forgot to mention why the name did have heritage. For those who don't know, Ascari is the surname of an F1 driver from Italy who was world champion in 1952 and 1953.

Agreed which is why I find this car so interesting. Even most rich people won't want it because of the qualities it blends despite it putting luxury and speed together so well. It really targets someone who loves cars more than someone who just lusts after cars because of price tags and horsepower numbers. I really think these cars will find themselves in the same garage as some of the most coveted classic cars in the world.

Well the package also includes exclusivity, a gorgeous interior that rivals a Zonda's and access to a resort that has a race track, tons of different cars to use as you please (production and race cars) and of course the ability to see what your own machine can do. They're not just selling you a toy but rather a whole playground.

A roof flap is an aerodynamic feature of modern race cars, especially stock cars. The roof flaps serve as a situational spoiler. A race car's body is designed to optimize downforce, but if that body is spun so air is flowing in reverse, lift is generated instead of countered. The roof flaps' job is to disrupt that airflow and prevent lift.

jonnie has a good point. Other than that, supercars usually achieve 500-700 bhp at higher rpm. Trucks need massive torque to hurl the massive weight thus requiring the engine to maximise the max torque output at lower rpm, in return reducing the power output.

i think it's something like NASCAR cars have.. it keeps the car from roll over and help stoping with that wuge aerodynamic drag, but only when the car goes backwards, like there, when it spin.. it also have an aerodynamic brake for auxiliar braking power, but is a regular buggati-like one.. you can see it on the video

You're right there with that list... not too sure about inc the GT in the list however as the Steering rack is from the Aston Vanquish, Lotus set up the handling, the wheels are made in Germany & someting on it comes from Italy but cant remember what.

that makes sense. at first I thought he was be overly dramatic about it not being crazy enough, but if you actually stop to think about the price and its competition, it is a little to tame to be a supercar. It really is a beautiful car though.

Really reach folks usually separate those qualities - they buy hypercars for performance and luxurious vehicles for the times they want to be seen in a gorgeous car... and there you have it - Ascari is a gorgeous luxurious car with a great performance... and that's all...

first impressions to me, it looks sorta kinda like the body of a Jaguar XJ220, the front end of a Honda NSX and the rear end of a TVR Griffith, not identical of corse, just what they immediately reminded me of.

If you notice, hammond will notice all the good points of the car and speak them out clearly almost never coming to the bad points, but if Clarkson was doing a review of this car, he'd give out all the bad points and say what the car really is... not saying that this supercar is bad, it's goooooooodddd!!

the difference between the ascari a10 and the kz1...the kz1 is what you pull up in at your lavish party showing off the nice interior and flexing your super car muscle..the a10 is what you take to the track where theres no one paying attention to the interior just the daunting lap time.. n you secretly know the a10 is your favorite because of this reason lol

I wouldn't say handling is subjective. Either it gets around a turn fast or it doesn't. A nice car makes it easy, but a good car is just fast.

it is considered a supercar. when hammond said it isn't that is purely his opinion based on his aesthetic point of view. Just like a chevy guy saying a mustang isn't a real sports car, or a European saying all american cars are rubbish. it is just his personal opinion.

the clock is wrong after 3 seconds it went straight to 5 seconds and skipped 4, and 6 seconds was longer than all the others

Koenigsegg is not a supercar. It's a hypercar. Zonda is also now considered a hypercar. Supercar you can buy for $100k, hypercar is 10x+ that.

Um.. id probably say the aero corners fairly well a lot better than a bugatti anyway. It's slightly lighter than a zonda c12s so that makes it almost half as light as a bug. Nuf said

A lot of ppl hate on cars that arnt their favorite. Wat ppl have to understand is that each car is like a peace of art work. Each one has its ups and downs. They're all great in their own way. U cant say, "Oh this car is a peace of shit and this car can kick its ass". In my opinion each car is great in wat its supposed to do. If one car can beat it in a way, another one can beat that one in another. All im sayin is that each car is great in its own way and ppl shouldnt be hatin on them.

It is a supercar. What hammond is talking about is his own personal point of view. To him, and his vanity, the car doesn't have the outlandish look of a 'supercar' as he views them.

This... THIS is my dream car. You can have anything that's been on their leaderboard since, and I'd rather have this. Yes, a Pagani Zonda is lustful... but where would I drive it? The KZ1 is literally an everyday supercar.

They made an 'R' package, which stepped aesthetics up with a wing, some canards, a few other trim bits, and contrast trim paint... but I wasn't a fan. You know that chick? No... not the centerfold.... THAT chick..... the one who you always had that inexplicable attraction to? That's the KZ1.

Type R Civic, done. Look it up. Mazda RX-8. Very decent, done too. Golf GTi, Mazda6 MPS, Ford Focus ST and RS, and more, all done. So decent cars aren't a problem. VK Commodore... They know holden as vauxhaul. I love my holdens, but the VK is a bit old, a bit lackluster. So they did the Monaro. And the R8. and hell yeah for that.
