With all the quick jump cuts and associated camera trickery we're accustomed to with Top Gear, the unedited raw footage of the top speed challenge was excellent to see. Clarkson conveyed it the best in my opinion, that visceral thrill of high speed.
I didn't think Hammond would ever do a TOP SPEED run after his crash... He may be a funny little man, but he has the heart and soul and charm of a saint.
He is by far on my knowledge is the only host from Top Gear who has a racing license (or maybe trained for it). The three of them are great drivers but since they know it's just for show they didn't pushed the cars to the limit as if they're risking their lives for it. Hammond had 2 huge accident caught on camera (Vampire Dragster and Rimac incident) but that didn't stop him from loving motorsports, instead he'd become more cautious when he does it. Both accidents are on the place where he never knew how to push the limit due to the type of vehicle he is unfamiliar with, which are jet powered dragster and a full-blown electric supercar.
@@moneymonkeyman8280 you can’t even afford that car or even have a balls to say it directly to Mate Rimac, you should log out of RU-vid after that comment.
@@mawwalmazie chris harris is a racing driver but i expect after all the years of driving all of them will be highly trained drivers over the years you could see how much james improved. The car richard was driving if i remember right had steel brake discs and they were overheating quickly his brakes were wearing out so i expect this would play a part.
Wouldn't surprise me in the least lol he's just such a weird guy in the best way possible you can't beat Clarkson for a good piss take but James May makes me laugh hysterically without even meaning to. I loved the time the put on the rave music and tampered with his radio so he couldn't turn it off, such a shame it had to end but the last couple of seasons just weren't the best anyways so I suppose it worked out for the best the grand tour is great and after the first season of the new top gear disaster it has got pretty watchable.
Just to point out something Captain Slow didn't mention, the previous version of the Imola circuit didn't have the quick Villeneuve chicane either, so it was basically full gas from Rivazza to Tosa (they added Variante Bassa to slow the cars down a bit, but still...). I've tried the old layout in an old Genesis racing game called Super Monaco GP (of course, not extremely realistic) and 9 times out of 10 I ended up slamming in the walls outside Tosa. Bloody fast indeed. (Side note: I'm actually from Imola, and the circuit is my favorite place in my hometown)
humans are cancer AI is Superior, humans make AI possible I was gonna make a point with that but it’s 3:30 in the morning right now and I don’t really care that much.
Watching the Stig do laps of Imola unedited is great to watch, wrestling the car in the braking area and through the corner and seeing he is absolutely on the limit is fantastic!
The MP4 12C does not have its wheels connected by anti-roll bars, the wheels are independent which explains this. It is also one of the most comfortable supercars (as I have heard).
The best thing about the green Airbag thingy is, that you finally can crash as many times as you like to. If an traditional Airbag went off, you need a new one. Not with the green thingy. That is economical!
Nobody: Whoever made Imola: “ohh no we have a straight and it’s boring!!! What do we do? Ohh I know we go left then right really quickly that’ll fix it.”
Thanks for this video! It's all great stuff. The trio doing their speed runs and The Stig doing laps with just the sounds of the car and watching his steering inputs was excellent! 👍
I think it looked rubbish, choppy, poking the track with a stick for the corners, at night, with a huge light in front of you. I mean it was obvious he didn't know the track and wasn't focused at all. I swear watching these I feel like I could easily be the next dead guy in a corner.
I don't think we'll have a better trio of gentleman ever again on TV and it makes me sad.. I was always looking forward to seeing what they did next and they're genuinely funny. Well I guess there's always reruns lol.
Agreed. Three years after your post, I will say I am still watching reruns. All season, they just rotate through and I start over. Don't really care for current stuff on TV, well other than BTCC, F1 and football. And, TG remakes are all rubbish. Not sure why they even bother.
@@SPFLDAngler Free is much better considering I already paid for it once on cable lol, Thanks "The Flixer" for helping me with just that. No downloading just streaming and enjoying.
@@SPFLDAngler Not a shameless plug just saying that it's what I use. Check it out for yourself if you can in your country "I'm in the USA" and hopefully you'll be enjoying it as I am. Commercial free!, just the boy's and their comedy gold uninterrupted.
It tells alot when James goes totally silent and just focusses on driving , I will bet anything that even captain slow was kind of afraid when hitting over 300 you can literally see the focus in his face.
I have watched the Italian special like five times now, this footage is incredible, the raw Imola lap and Jeremy not only showing his pure passion for breathtaking cars like his Aventador and him being genuinely scared screaming when he was doing the top speed run. Watching the edited special showed Jeremy's face when he was screaming and he was in pure terror. The MPG segment being completely cut from the final makes sense as that was a mess f

@@gosh7001 It's really amazing how Amazon took this and put even more money into it than the original show. They basically have even more the toys and freedom to fuck around and make a great show now. So hyped for season 3.
I love these guys - the camaraderie between Clarkson, May, and Hammond are unrivaled - arguably surpassing the league of the Marx Brothers or Three Stooges.
I don’t care what car the Stig is in. I could watch him pound round a track all day long. The skill and ease at which he completes the laps is breathtaking. Arguably one of the best shows ever made.
