@@Vipa567 If you're talking about a topspin backhand, I agree, she didn't possess a great one. But there are a lot of girls out there who can hit a powerful topspin backhand. Can any of them hit a slice as precise and spinny as Barty's? Slice is a type of backhand too, and Barty's was one of the best of all time. So she did have a complete game and her backhand was excellent and unique.

This match was Sharapova's last quality match. You can tell her shoulder was bothering her at the end. Her serves were much slower but she still fought for her life until the end. Barty was lucky and I'm sure very excited to play a champion like Maria just as she was was about to make her big breakthrough on the tour. 👏👏👏

It did! She broke through after this. Same with Kenin, Sabalenka and Osaka. Maria played them right as they started making their marks on the tour...Definitely a huge confidence boost to any young player to get a chance to play, and play well, against an All time great fighter of the sport.

If there's a player I miss it's Ash Barty, MSwas a tenacious player that never gave up, but I don't miss her antics and gamesmanship on court, thankfully there were plenty of players that didn't fall for it, sadly alot did though too

Sharapova displayed much courage & strength despite being 33 & look tired twds the end. She certainly has slowed down a lot & not serving much aces like used to in her earlier years. Guess age is catcing up on her game.

You can tell Sharapova’s shoulder was already done by this point her serve is far from it’s best but I am surprised how fast she is. For some reason I remembered her being a slower mover at this stage than she actually was.

Maria Sharapova surely has the most beautiful pair of legs in the world. They are perfectly-shaped, not over-muscular, in spite of all the years of running around the courts. This is a tribute to Maria, not a sexist remark as some people might deem it.

I don't know how people can't see the differenc3 in the pace of sharapovas shots here without her meldonium the trickery of hitting it super hard is still there but the ball isnt going across as hard. the meldonium did make a difference especially when she was getting tired , she could still rip the ball. now she can't.
