Naomi Osaka advanced to her first Australian Open final thanks to a thrilling three-set victory over Karolina Pliskova.
In a match of the highest quality and studded with electrifying winners, Osaka held her nerve to record a 6-2 4-6 6-4 win.
The two women combined for 76 winners against 51 errors under the Rod Laver Arena roof on a scorching summer day in Melbourne.
Osaka, the reigning US Open champion, would go on to meet Petra Kvitova in the final - where she became the first player to win back-to-back Grand Slam trophies since Serena Williams in 2015.

21 years is a normal age for being that good, if you start training with the right intentions as a kid. All the tennis champions we know where good on that age. These form of commentary is like life is a fairy tale, and not realistic. Osaka is much better than the tennis top of that day. Better talk about that. Something wrong with the level, or the players. Only Serena can really play tennis like a winner, and now Osaka. Serena made sure that nobody will forget the introduction of Osaka, and Osaka is ok with that. This was the best introduction of a new star to the world. One who can entertain like Serena. Brilliant, hammer it in everyone's memory. Commentary stuck on how Naomi was robbed from something. I don't think that Naomi see it like that. Just a win over Serena would be too little, so Serena made sure everyone will know this. I always say people don't understand Serena, same goes for Naomi. These girls are serious, and mentally strong.

@@deusexmachina9776 Ahahahahahaha, very amusing. She is stronger than Serena. Serena is now an Hysterical girl who gets out of mind as soon as things don't go like she wants. She wasn't like that years ago. She was stronger (even mentally), lighter and faster. Now she cannot even move on the field, and this is frustrating, maybe. And, I remember to you that Osaka has beaten Serena in US Open, in 2019, showing much more mental equilibrium than Serena, in that match. Serena is the GOAT, actually (although I think that Steffy Graf is the real GOAT). But I bet than in 10-12 years Osaka will be the new GOAT. She has more more than simply talent.

Yes you have to admire a very good player like Naomi Osaka that ad a lot to the game of tennis, Not to take away anything from any one else,but Serena Williams and vinous Williams will always be my favourite players and before Serena it was Martina Navratilova she was a excellent player in her time, there is a lot of final that Serena lose that she should have won, she went in some of the final with out a positive strategy, Three things that you need in tennis you have to be consistent and you have to have a good technique and you have to have a solid strategy, and holding on to your serve is key, when a player break your serve it make the game a lot harder for you.

Very good commentators, among the best in business, commentated on one of the best matches between these 2 great players. Naomi went on to win this Australian Open for her second Grand Slam, and this week added her third Grand Slam by winning her second US Open. 3 Grand Slam at 22 years old, and possibly many more to come. Already the highest paid female athlete in the world ever at such a young age. A legend in the making indeed

I love both of these players!! Naomi is the future and present of tennis and Pliskova has such a beautiful and steady game. She reminds me a lot of Lindsay Davenport. Hopefully a future Grand Slam Champion!! : )

After viewing this whole match from bottom to end, I could tell even from an amateur’s perspective that one of the biggest reasons why Osaka lost this match to pliskova is because of her new male tennis coach. He kept Sweet talking her and never giving her any real or good strategic advice and also pretended to take notes etc which was why Osaka basically lost this match. If she hadn’t fired her former coach, Sasha Bajin, who helped her win two of her first major grand slams, I definitely think she wouldn’t have lost this match. Karma can be a bitch sometimes.
