White ash or green ash? I cut some green ash last year to make a traditional Sioux bow and that takes on a reddish hue not unlike the brindle of hickory when cured (I waited two months - as is custom - for that particular bow and still have some that has aged since then.)
+Chris Collyer Hi Chris - A friend of mine at Saxon Forest Archery www.sfarchery.co.uk/ kept it in the garage to dry naturally until its moisture content was about 18% then took it indoors until it reached around 10% then worked on it. He used a moisture meter bought cheap from Amazon to take readings. Hope this helps you out.
